Hi Loopy thanks for your kind message.
we are so happy we are going for our 1st scan on thursday then dh is setting off to Magaluf that afternoon so he wasnt there when you were, there are 11 going but dh isnt into wearing silly t-shirts he said he is too old, well he is 30 tHIS August which I do like to rub in
I can remember reading your posts about your bio-chemical pregnanacy we also had one in Jan on our last cycle, have you tried acupucture we swear this as helped us as I started it in Dec and I had the bio-chemical which we took as a positive as we had never got that far before then this cycle we have got our miracle,so I swear it helped as she has concentrated on getting my belly nice and warm to help keep a baby has she said I was cold,I also take chinese medicine as well.sorry for rambling hope it made sense.
Glad you are starting treatment again soon, wishing you all the best and I hope you can join me on the other side as you really deserve it.
Hope you had a nice break in Magaluf, hopefully we wont be having any aboard holidays for a few years.
Thanks again for the congrats

Hi Gem

I hope you don't mind me butting in on your thread but I am thinking of having acupuncture for my next cycle and was wondering where you start to look for a good acupuncturist?

I am hoping to start my next treatment in June, do you think it's too late to start having it? I am going to have reflexology as well and have been recommended a good one who specialises in women having IVF and has a very good success rate but no one seems to know a good acupunturist.

Where do I start? I don't just want to pick one from the Yellow Pages :?

Sorry for all the questions.

Hi Gem
I am just nosing in on this posting, and am so pleased to hear your good news - well done to you both!

I am also having acupuncture at the moment, and I am also hoping this helps me get a +ive this time around

Dagney - I have been having acupuncture since beginning of March, and I am currently down regging, my egg collection is on 1 June. I was (stopped now) also taking the herbs and pills, as my acupuncturist was chinese. I think you might as well give it a shot now, as every little helps, maybe (if you can stretch to it, as its not cheap) try and have two sessions a week. I am not really sure how you go about picking a "good" one, as I just went straight to the TCM place in the Metro Centre at Gateshead where I live for mine. Maybe your clinic can recommend one. My IVF unit has just started giving out leaflets on acupuncture along with a nurse who is qualififed to treat us.

Good luck :D

1 failed ICSI, 1 failed FET, next treatment starts in May with EC on 1 June 2004, hoping for a 2005 baby!

Thanks Lotti

I will give it a go even if it means only a few sessions but at least I am doing something. Sod the cost, if it works it will be worth it!

Hope you are feeling OK on your down regging and best of luck for your EC on June 1st.

Take care

Hi Dagny
I heard about my acupuncturist from a dh's frienda wife as she was having bad panic attacks and wanted them under control before she got married, which thankfully she did,it was her who asked if she could help with fertility as they had been trying for a baby for 9 months and when she said she did, they thought of us so they gave dh the phone number, luckly the shop is only 10 mins away,at 1st I was very wary and didnt hold out much hope, but when we had our 1st consultaion she talked alot of sense,I am also taking the medicine,I took both to get a quicker result, with the acupuncture and medcines it is £45 a week I only have 1 session a week but I did have an extra one this time the day of et and a few days after as in Jan I didnt have any during the 2ww.
There is is website which someone mention on ff http://www.acupuncture.org.uk Hope this helps,I ahev also heard good things about reflexology if this didnt work this time I was going to try that next.Hope I have helped you.Wishing you all the best for your next treatment.

Hi Gem

Thanks for your advice. It makes sense to give everything a go doesn't it? I will have a look at the website you gave me. Maybe the reflexologist woman knows someone, I will ask her too.

Hope you are well. Take good care and keep up the fluids. Very important.
I bet you are getting excited to see the scan now?

Dear Dagny
I will never forget the support you have given me over the last few weeks along with every one else. In my depressed state I found my acupuncturist in Yellow pages :!: but luckily he appears to be really good.trained at the Univ of Westminister. Being a nurse he was interrogated about what he was doing and last week he gave me a book to read so I could understand what he was saying particularly as I'm Yin deficient?!! Yesterday on the way back from a conference I speed read this book called Treatment of infertility (Jane Lyttleton) with Chinese Medicine 2004. Its easy to read and understand and I could pick my symptoms out and relate to what was being said. It gives wonderful examples of treatments with herbs as well as acupuncture and the successes. It truly was a fascinating read, this comes from someone who usually likes slushy romances :!:
After having only two treatments I think I feel calmer.... its hard to know but at least it has given me more hope as I'm waiting on my right cyst review which is not until 17th June which on Wednesday was devastating news. Acupuncture is my hope for a miracle. I have no idea how much this book costs but its published by www.elsevierhealth.com.
I hope that helps you like you all have helped me
Love Jane
Its even made me consider re training as an acupuncturist!!!

Hi Jane

Thanks so much for the info. It's like so confusing as to which or who is the best person for the job. I have had to put my faith into so many people over the last 4 years and sometimes you don't get a choice but with trying to find the RIGHT acupuncturist is turning into a mammoth task. Maybe I shouldn't be so choosy

I will check out the book you suggest as well as the other book some of the girls swear by, Zita West. You kinda get blinded by science when you talk to the doctors so having things told in laymans terms would be much simpler. I feel like a bit of an IVF veteran but there are still avenues I haven't explored. I will be writing a book myself soon!!!!

I am sorry you have to wait until mid June to get any information on your cyst. It's all a matter of waiting this whole blood process isn't it? At least we learn to become patient people in the long run. When are you hoping to have your treatment?? I am crossing my fingers that if all is well with my bloods I can get going in June. I will be 36 by then and time is a tick, tick, ticking away so loudly it keeps me up at night!!

As for training to be an acupunturist - Go for it girl 8) Can you perform it on yourself??

Thanks again Jane, keep in touch.

Love Dagny xkx

Dear Dagny

Its amazing how you watch this site waiting for news for instance from Gem and Trace! I do hope you get the go ahead for June, fingers crossed, maybe... I'll follow in July or August :? Its the maybe s of IVF that I find so hard to cope with. I just channel all my hope into acupuncture especially from all the positive replies to my question.
I do hope you find the right acupuncturist. Whats the acupuncturist book by Zita West :?:
All the best in your search and in June
Take care

Hi Jane

I know what you mean about the maybe's. It's so frustrating.

The Zita West book isn't an acupuncture book but a book about all the do's and the don'ts during IVF. How to prepare your body, vitamins etc, etc. It sounds like the IVF Bible! If you look on the book section in resources bit on the left of the page it has a load of books which are recommended for IVF'ers.

When you do start don't forget we are all her to hold your hand and help you through it. If anyone understand what it's like it's us lot.

Take care

Love and hugs Dagny xkx

dagny, glad to hear u are hoping to start treatment in june, not that
far off now, and with the summer approaching i always think it makes
u feel a little bit brighter. I just wanted to add my views on accupuncture,
due to my age i was up for trying anything, i started treatment during
my 3rd attempt (-itve) and then continued during my 4th attempt (+itve)
i realy found it helped me relax, and i could relate to what she was
saying about keeping the tummy warm to encourage the embie to
snuggle down, unfortunately i could not take the herbs, they were
so disgusting but i was taking lots of supplements. I think everyone
on here feels for you dagny and we are all looking forward to that
+itve post. alisonn

Hi Alisonn

Thankyou so much for your kind words, they actually made me cry  but I feel after I have had a bit of a cry I feel a bit better so don't worry. I am feeling a bit sensitive and weepy today though for some reason and knowing that I have so much support on here with all you lovely girls is my life line.

I know how important it is to have support which is why I am here all the time trying to give some wise words to the other girls but I also know I couldn't do it myself without the support and encouragement from you, Alisonn and everyone else, so thankyou very much.

It's always good to here a lot of +tives from girls who have had acupuncture.

By the way Gem sorry for hijacking your thread!!

Dagny dont be sorry for hijacking, you are all welcome to hijack me any where so hopefully you will all be joining me on the other side.
Hope you find a acupuncturist, but hopefully as you got pregnant last time with your percious daughter it will happen again and you will get the positive you deserve,I for one will be watching out for you and keeping up with your treatment.
Iam still going to my acupuncturist and taking the medicine luckly I havent took the herbs my are little round balls like tablets but in the begining I did have to take soem fowl tea which was bad enough but luckly I had to only take them for 2 weeks.
Jane the book sounds very interesting,if this havent work this time I was going to get the Zita book.
If you go to the fertility friends site they have a complimantery therapies (sorry about the spelling) tread where people have posted their views on acupuncture and reflexology.
Hope you all have a good weekend

Thanks Gem

You are very sweet. I am undecided as to go for the Chinese herbs and tea infusions. I have heard that they taste awful  and I am a bit of a baby when it comes to things like that.

Take care and looking froward to joining you on the other side soon!
