8 weeks and clothes getting tight!!!

Post by lilmd »

I was 8 weeks on Monday and some of my clothes are already feeling snug in the waist especially toward the end of the day. Is anyone else experiencing this so soon? I have been walking 3 or 4 days a week and doing other exercises for my arms and legs... so it isn't like I am just lounging around all day eating ice cream or something. I know everything is teeny tiny right now but it doesn't feel that way. I have also been battling with constipation (TMI) so that might be some of it.... Just thought I'd see what you guys were experiencing. I am by no means complaining.. I am so happy to be able to start these experiences but I am trying to set expectations for myself.

lilmd - I was 8 weeks Wednesday, and yeah, I can't fit into my pants at ALL. Even my pajama bottoms and lounge pants are snug. Twice now I have opened my button and unzipped my fly sitting at my desk... and forgotten about it before getting up and walking out of my office!! Fortunately I'm pretty sure my sweater covered it. I have been thinking some of that is the hormone shots because my hips are bigger, too. But definitely I used to have a pretty flat stomach and now I can't even suck in in to marginally flat. My pregnancy book keeps assuring me that my body will be showing no changes, but frankly I'm just not buying it anymore. What I have bought is a pair of rolled-waist jeans and a few looser tops!

I guess that is why I was asking because all the books say that you may start seeing some changes BUT that no one would think that you are pregnant yet. I feel like each day I have to pick what I am going to wear very closely. I work with a lot of women and they notice if you start bulging in certain areas. I am not going to say my stomach was flat but I was for sure not busting out of my pants. Most fit with some wiggle room because I don't like my clothes to fit snug and by this time of day I do feel like I need to unbutton and unzipper to get comfy.

Have you noticed any changes in your eating habits? I am very hungry early in the day and by the evening I barely eat.

Have you told people at work that you are pregnant? That is part of my dilema because I don't want anyone to know until I know that everything is ok...

We are due within a few days of each other.. how exciting :-)

For me this was also a retrieval cycle, and I started to get puffy just from the hormones during that whole process. It very quickly went from feeling like I looked good in my pants to HELLO muffin-top to wow, these pants don't even close. Fortunately from my last cycle I have 3 identical pairs of stretchy trouser-jeans that at my normal size I don't even have to open to pull on and off. So I have been cycling through those and yoga pants. My mom showed really early, too, so she actually already bought me maternity clothes and shipped them to me for arrival tomorrow. Given how scatterbrained I am that seems better than loosening buttons at work!!

My eating habits have been severely crippled by feeling nauseous and headachy all day, every day for the past week. No meal sounds "good" to me. (OK, except last night at 12:45 when I got up and noshed through almost an entire jar of pimento stuffed olives while my husband gently snored next to me.) I never seem to throw up from eating, but it's awfully hard to force myself to eat sometimes. Are you having any nausea?

I have only told my direct supervisor. We are good friends, too, and I felt better about just giving her the honest reason why I was missing work during the IVF testing, etc. Like you, I don't want to tell anybody else until everything is "OK" - especially since as of last night I have now had 2 episodes of bleeding. My nurse told me today that the cervix is "more vascular" during pregnancy and what I had sounded like the cervical version of a nosebleed. (They did another u/s today to be sure, hb was 156 bpm and my little one had graduated from lima bean to shrimp in appearance) :) I haven't even told my grandmother yet, I'm still so nervous about it.

That is neat we're just a couple of days off. That's what I have loved about this board, talking to people who are in EXACTLY the same place you are in. :)

Yeah... I am pretty much feeling like a muffin top also... that is funny! I guess I also underestimate how much the cycle itself plays a role on your body. I know I always get bloated a lot when I started the progesterone so it may also be partially effects of that.

I have clothes from my 1st pregnancy that I lost at 22 weeks so if I need to I can resort to those. It just seems to early to go there and I think I have a hang up about it because of all the heart ache that come with that loss. I don't want to go out and buy new clothes either.. I guess I will have to find a way to get beyond that. I think I will feel much better when I know things are ok.

Are you planning on doing the 1st trimester screening or the CVS test? I go tomorrow for my 1st "real" US and a consult with a genetic counselor and to meet the perinatologist that will be doing to cvs. I feel like the only way I will somewhat enjoy this pregnacy is if I have those reassurances based on my past. My infertility dr. doesn't do detailed US with measurements.. they basically make sure all is where it needs to be and for the presence of a "strong" heartbeat. But they don't even give the heartrate so I am excited for tomorrow.

I wasn't really feeling good for a few weeks but this week I seem fine. The weird thing is that it didn't keep me from eating all together but just kept me from eating certain things... I am trying so hard to mantain a healthy and balanced diet... That is not always my strong suit in life. I am trying to stay active during during the day but by the time the evening comes I am DONE!

Are you bleeding or spotting? That is one thing that I usually don't have to deal with so I don't know anything but that I hear it does happen to a lot of people and it must be very scary.

...and let's face it, muffin top is not NEARLY the same thing as a pregnancy tummy!

I didn't realize you had already lost a pregnancy that far along. This is my first one and I'm so nervous, it must be much more nerve-wracking for you. Do they know at all what went wrong? Because the cause of my husband's male-factor problem was a cystic fibrosis mutation we did genetic screening/counseling before we even started IVF. I just had my first appointment with my regular obgyn today, and they gave me a lot of paperwork and brochures about the other testing, but she said I don't have to decide about the CVS for another couple of weeks. Sounds like we're on the same doctor's schedule, too! My next appointment is for 5/7 - I'm curious to see when yours will be!

My fertility doctor didn't do a lot, either. They at least did a more detailed second ultrasound, and gave me the heart rate and a length measurement. You must be dying to get your results tomorrow.

Eating is always a challenge for me because I have a lot of food allergies, including soy which is a ***** to avoid these days. Seriously, I have seen packages of bacon that had soy listed as an ingredient. Soy. In bacon. Huh? At least it means I am forced to cook all my meals from scratch, but let me tell you cooking meals from scratch has a very limited appeal when you feel nauseous. :( I have always been a yogurt fan, and I'm finding that a great stand-by for something healthy to eat quickly.

It sounds like what I have had is bleeding. It's a gush of very thin, runny bright red blood that quickly tapers off and stops within a few hours. Yes, it is VERY scary. It happened in the shower last night, and this wave of panic hit me when I saw all that bright red on the white shower. I almost cried when I could see the little heart beating today. Forget taking vitamins, I think I'm going to need anti-anxiety meds before this is done.

This can happen only if you are getting fat, just check the weight and you will be able to know what you want to.

abbadavis - I only gained the appropriate amount of weight during my pregnancy, all of which was in my belly. I started at a size 0 and went straight out - my rib cage did not change size at all. People in my office knew immediately I was pregnant, nobody just thought I was packing on the pounds. 9 months after delivering I am down to a size 4. If you think that's fat...
