I feel stupid posting this but I'm a bundle of nerves lately! Yesterday I must have ate something that didn't agree with me because I had a horrible stomach ache and cramping. I know it was my stomach because eventually after a few hours I ended up having a bowel movement (sorry TMI) and after that I felt much better. But the whole time it was hurting I was so nervous it would hurt the baby. I am 9 weeks pregnant today. Is that possible? Should I call the doctor? My first OB appt is tomorrow but I'm worried it will be too early for him to check the heartbeat so I will probably have to wait another month. Can they find the heartbeat with a doppler at 9 weeks?
Ugh, sorry I'm a nervous wreck! Any input would hopefully make me feel better!
Don't feel stupid, and don't worry. Remember, most of us suffer horrible nausea, and puke all day long. You should be fine. As long as the food poisening passed quickly and didn't get too violent, your body will handle it just fine. Congrats on your pregnancy, and yes, they can detect a heartbeat at nine weeks with an ultrasound (maybe not the hand held dopplar yet...)

Pep23 - Sorry to hear about your stomach ache. Can you remember what you ate? I only ask because some foods like aged cheese, raw seafood, etc shouldn't be consumed by women who are pregnant. I do think you should notify your OB but since you have an appointment tom. I think that should be fine until then. Just remember to stay hydrated because diarrhea can cause you to become dehydrated.
You should be able to hear the baby’s heartbeat via a Doppler but don’t be alarmed if you can’t. When I transferred to my high risk OB at 12 weeks, he said that it isn’t uncommon for some women not to hear their baby’s heartbeat via Doppler until 13 or 14 weeks. But, I heard her heart just beating away! I wish you good luck!
Honestly, dont worry. I tested positive with Zach and that night fell violently ill with a 3 day flu...both my husband and I were puking for 3 days and sicker than we had ever been in our lives. Not exactly the way we had hoped to be celebrating our pregnancy. lol Hope you're feeling better now.
