I just got one, decided to go with the baby sound from amazon. It was 40 bucks. It works well, but make sure you get gel or go with buy ky jelly because lotion doesn't work as well. lol This one doesn't come with a wand but it is compact and works just as well. I can hear the HB's and all the moving around that they do. It's pretty cool!

Rosario - I cycled with you last year and I am so happy to see you pg again, especially after your loss. I also have the sonoline B 3mhz, and it's great. Have been able to fine the hb since I got it at 10w2d. Got it on Amazon.

Hi girls. For those of you with the sonoline B dopplar, how do you know if you are hearing your hb or the baby's heartbeat? I am 10 weeks today and I have been trying but I'm not sure if it's the baby. At my8 week ultrasound the heart rate was 175 so I have been looking for something in that range. But so far all I am finding is in the range of 125-135. Could that be me? Or is that the baby? Should I be worried if that is the baby that the heart rate changed so much from what it was 2 weeks ago? Also, alot of times I see it on the screen but do not hear anything. And it changes so fast. Does yours work that way too? There was barely any instructions included (I borrowed it from a friend) so I just wanted to compare notes...thanks!

If it's below 140, you are most likely just hearing yourself, or a combination of your hb and baby's. Yours sounds more like a constant swish, the baby sounds like a much faster drum beat. Trust me, you'll know when you get it! Mine worked when I got it at 10w2d, but I also have twins (I didn't pick up two separate beats until 13w). Sometimes I hear the hb without seeing a change in numbers, and I KNOW I hear a baby! The baby is still so small at 10w, and some OBs can't even pick up for a few more weeks. I'd say keep trying and eventually you should get it.

Also, are you using gel? You definitely need to be using either ultrasound or KY jelly.

Make sure you haven't just been running around. A normal resting heartrate for you should not be over 100 BPM, normally it will be 70-80 something. Baby should be anywhere from 120-160 usually but can be higher. The more the baby is moving and wiggling in there the higher the HB will be. If your baby is sleeping and they do a lot of that, then it will be a little lower. You definately could have found your baby! :) A good way to tell is if it is a pretty steady rate. It will change by a few numbers, but it won't go far up or far down and keep changing drastically. However... all the pushing trying to find the HB can wake baby up too so don't be too surprised if you get a HB of 130 and you see it go up to 140+ (for example) but you haven't really moved the doppler. I have been helping a few of my pg friends who are not as far along as me with my doppler and their babies are a bit harder to find, but I found them. :) I always dismiss anything under 120 as mom's HB.

Thanks for the feedback. I was afraid that was the case. And yes, I have been using lots of ultrasound gel. I tried again this afternoon and at one point the bpm jumped up to 155, then 159, then I lost it. It sounded faster but it happened so quick I couldn't get a great sense. So I am hoping that was my little one?? It happened so fast and then I coudln't find it again. I just get concerned because I keep reading online you should be able to hear it by 10 weeks and some people hear it as early as 8. I know if you are overweight it may take longer but I'm not at all. Maybe I will just put it away for a few days and try again later this week. This first trimester is such a trying time since we can't feel the baby moving yet and I'm not even showing. My nausea and fatigue is even starting to wear off and it sounds crazy but I wish it wouldn't! As tough as it is to feel sick I like the reassuring reminder that all is ok!

If it jumped like that, you heard the baby. Most likely he/she is just moving around a lot. Sometimes I've done it and haven't been able to hold on to a regular rhythm for more than a few seconds. Even now It's sometimes hard to read it for a long time, but at least they are much louder and they are bigger, so I can find it again. It can also depend on where your placenta is. Sometimes it's in front of the baby, so you'll have a hard time getting a good read.

i have the sonoline B also and i used it at like 10 weeks and thought i was listening to baby's HB....the doppler was saying 125 BPM but my hubby said it sounded slower than that...so we counted the beats for 15 seconds and multiply by 4....and it only came out to 88 BPM! i was horrified and worried! at my next OB appt, i told my DR and he said not to worry that what i was hearing was my own HB and that those dopplers usually don't pick up fetal HB that early along and that they are also not too reliable...now i am 17 weeks along and i have finally located baby's HB...i count it manually instead of relying on the dopplers counter lol...it about 150-160 BPM...sometimes it takes me a while to find it but i can definitely tell now just by listening which HB is mine and which is baby's.
