H Ghost, I am about 6 weeks pg. I've had no problems this time around, up until today. I started bleeding. Went to the Dr. he is very concerned about the bleeding. The ultra sound looked really good. We saw 2 strong heart beats...TWINS!!!! And both are measuring well. He said he is still pretty concerned about the bleeding. There was quite a bit, though it has stopped now. He did say he could see the placenta detaching in the ultra sound. I asked if that meant I would lose the embryo, he said it didn't necessarily mean that. What else could that mean? It was such a whirl wind.....I don't know what to think of that! I am now on bed rest and very scared....any thoughts?
Thanks for all that you do!

I've seen patients hysterical over heavy bleeding, and all is well for them and they have a live birth months later. Sometimes it means the pregnancy will be lost and sometimes it's just fine. I don't know the probabilities.
Follow your doctor's instructions and try not to worry. Stress is no friend to your pregnancy.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Lidia – First congratulations on your pregnancy w/ twins! But, I am so very sorry to hear that you are having problems w/ the bleeding and detaching placenta. I am praying that you have a good outcome. Unfortunately, it is just a wait and see situation for you right now and the best thing you can do is bed rest so the placenta doesn’t detach any further.
I went through the same thing w/ my daughter last February 2009 but mine wasn’t diagnosed until it was too late, I was 21 weeks and my daughter didn’t survive but the good news is that you have been diagnosed early and maybe you can prevent it from detaching any further.
Angela, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I will stay down per my Doctors orders and continue to pray.
Bless you!

Lidia - I went to the hospital at 10 weeks for heavy bleeding as well (I also have twins). They found a large subchorionic hematoma (SCH...in others words, a blood clot) that had formed because one of the placentas had partially detached. I was put on pelvic rest and just told to take it easy. I didn't have anymore heavy bleeding after that day, but I did have heavy spotting until it slowly subsided 6 weeks later. At my 17 1/2 week appt, the clot was gone. It never affected the babies and both are growing normally. It's very common, especially among twins.
Sometimes it does cause miscarriage (I had a friend lose her son at 11 weeks because of it), but it really depends on how detached the placenta is. I would continue to take it easy and rest. There is still plenty of time for it to reattach. I have heard that it can make the placenta not quite as strong, so you'll want to be careful the rest of the pregnancy anyway.
