Re: Summer cycle group

Post by turtle0619 »

hey everyone!
oh boy what a day i've had! first i have to get up and go to my SnS...have you ever had one of those days where you just cant seem to get out the door? that was me this morning. so i'm running late, trying to make it to the clinic during the hour window they have in the mornings for SnS's. well i make it just in time! so i get home and take my AM meds, and i have to wait around because i need more meds and they are being fed-ex'd to me for the morning. well i wait and wait and they dont show up. so i finally call the pharmacy and they realize that fed ex forgot a big pile of shipments last night and mine was in it so they were having it curried (sp?) to my house. so a few hours later they come and deliver it...yay!! well not so fast..i went and opened it and found out they sent me the wrong meds!!!!! so i have to call them back and get them to send me the right ones tomorrow (thank god i have enough to last me today or else i would have to drive down to mass to pick it up myself)
i swear to god i have the worse luck with pharmacies! its always something crazy and stressful each cycle. and i hate that my nurse doesnt order enough meds at the start of the cycle because each time they have to re-order my meds i have to pay another co-pay...so say i get 4 gonal-f pens at first, i only have to pay one co-pay for that, but if they have to order me just one extra pen it cost the same exact co-pay as the first 4!! it sucks!! i know i'm lucky to have insurance coverage, but still...these co-pays add up pretty fast!!
so i finally get the call from my nurse right now, and i am still stimming..staying on the same doses of gonal-f and menopur, and now i'm adding the ganirelix tonight. which is new to me..i usually use cetrotide, but it looks the same...not sure why my RE switched...they probably got some kind of a deal with the drug company to switch....whatever!
so even though i'm not asking for info on my cycle this time...the ultrasound tech told me what she saw..she said i have 4 follies...1 was a 10, and 3 7's..then she said i had a few smaller ones on each side too. i'm not holding my breath on those small ones because they never seem to want to wake up, but i'll take 4 follies that are all growing at the same time!!
so i have to go back for my next SnS on sunday....of course its sunday so the office i usually go to is closed so i have to go to their main office about 45 minutes from here at 6:45 am!! boooo for having to get up at 6am on a sunday!!

i will do personals later...i see alot of new names...welcome!
me and DH are heading to a movie so i can chill out and forget about how annoying today has been. we are going to see despicable me...a nice and fun movie!!!
i hope everyone has a great weekend!!

**much love always**

Hi this is a reply to Moorebaby and a funny correction to my last post--Yes, I, too, was completely knocked out for the retrieval (thank God)-- They gave me the valium on the day of transfer...Gosh, I don't know how I could get the two procedures mixed up! LOL!

By the way, we had a "frostie" on this cycle... my husband wondered if it's a common practice just to transfer one frostie or if you MUST have 2 or more. I don't know. I'm just glad we have another chance if this first attempt at IVF doesn't take.

Best wishes to everyone in the process. We are going to a concert tonight and I hope that I can think about something other than fertility tonight.

Peace to all.

Franny- Although it was a stressful day at least you did get good news on the 4 follies! Congrats I am so happy for you. :D Enjoy the movie that is one I have on my list to see when it comes out on DVD. My DH isnt' much into the animated movies so I always have to order them from Netflix and watch them alone. I think the last one we actually watched together was UP and I cried like three times during the movie and DH made me feel bad during the part where the couple is thinking about having a baby. Not on purpose of course, but maybe that's why he wont watch them with me anymore?

annpage & wewannababy- Welcome to the group! Annpage congrats on joining the PUPO group cant wait to hear about your BFP on the 17th. Wewannababy congrats on beginning stims you are on your way too.

Lou- I am just as anxious to get started on this cycle too and I'm sorry it has your mind so frayed. Try to have a relaxing weekend with your DH. Do you have any fun plans to keep your mind off of it? I am going for my first acupuncture treatment tonight and I have a very good feeling about this cycle because of it and all the positive feed backs I have gotten from other ladies who have tried it. I think its awsome that your friend will be treating you for free that certainly helps take some of the stress and burden off of you.

klinger13- Welcome and dont worry about getting started a little later then some of us. I am waiting for my calendar to come in the mail but there is a chance that I wont have my ER and ET till early to mid September. So I might be right there with you.

Karin- LOL I love the whole "mastercard" outlook of the IVF situation. I will have to share that with my DH and mother I'm sure it will get a good laugh from them also.

sunshine- Welcome to you also and thank you for bringing some more humor to this thread. It certainly helps to look at this whole process from a different and comical angle.

Tammy- Thanks for the encouragement and advice on the acupuncture. I am looking foward to my fist session today and have a more positive outlook on my cycle this time because of stories like yours.

Well I guess that's all for now. Sorry if I missed anyone but as always thinking of all of you. If I dont get back on today I hope everyone has a great weekend!

fitzjr11- woohoo!! does that mean you start your meds on monday?

annpage- i had minor heartburn during the 2ww on my 1st cycle...i was preggo, although i m/c'd.

amaut- so did you come up w/ a decision...is it a fresh one or an fet w/ your 2 frosties?

sunshine and stars- i don't think you MUST transfer 2 embies. i think it would be fine to transfer 1. but you won't have to think about it for a while since you'll be getting your bfp soon! when's your beta?

franny- oh what a day! but your follies are doing AWESOME!!! isn't it funny how when you don't want info, it's thrown right at you, but when you ask just 1 question, they act as if you're bothering them & it's a hassle for them to explain to you what's going on. that really stinks that you have to get up so early on a sunday...boohoo!!! i think you should treat yourself to a pedi or massage afterwards!

lou- oh hun i'm sorry you're feeling so stressed out. can you take a little me-time each day for the next 2 weeks...go for a walk, read a book at a coffee shop? i think you're just really overwhelmed w/ everything you've been through. (((HUGS)))

klinger 13 (amanda)- don't worry about your timing...please stick around! i bet there will be so many more ladies joining us who will be going into september...you won't be alone!

karin1- i love the "priceless advertisement"...too funny, but funnier b/c it's true!

sunshine and stars wrote:Thanks, TammyS, great directions-- I understand now.

Just wondering, with all the seriousness of IVF (the agony of waiting, medication protocol, finances...) if anyone has any funny stories to share.

Because my loving husband is so much older than I am, we've had some funny happenings... starting with the medical "group" education that we received from the staff and surgeons... The diversity in the room was amazing, but I think my husband was the oldest. He's been a great sport about this.

Another brief story-- At the IVF retrieval, I was so relaxed on the valium they give, that I forgot to remove my panties under my hospital gown. When the surgeon saw it, she said something to the effect of "we're good, but not THAT good!"

Anyway, we laughed and laughter is a precious commodity and blessing at any point!
Any other funny stories out there????

Well when I was getting (22!!!) eggs retrieved, and the pain meds wore off at about number 15... I was trying to relax and endure the pain when I suddenly stated in a growly voice "David is having a MUCH better time than me!" Everyone in the room just stopped for a moment, then started laughing, myself included.

Hi ladies!
I posted once or twice a while back, but have been out recovering from surgery. Had my post-op today and am feeling back in the game. I just finished Provera to bring on AF (hopefully any day now!!). My RE said we could try again with my next AF...which is hard to say when that will be as I need Provera to bring her on every time! I'm hoping to get it done in August...it might stretch into September. I see a few teachers on here and I am one too! Luckily our district start date was pushed to September 8th due to construction, so I'm hoping to get this all done before we go back.

It is going to take me a while to catch up on all the personals...but I know there are at least a few BFPs here, so a BIG CONGRATS!!! I can't wait to join that party!

I look forward to getting to know all you ladies and hope we all come out on the other end pregnant together! Good luck to you all! :)

Franny - Glad you have 4 good sized follies so far! I am with you on the copay! Do you use villiage Pharmacy? I had to go there once myself but it's only up the street from my clinic. I ordered meds even though I have a few gonal f pens in the fridge and cetrocide and ovidrel too. I figure I better get it while I can. If this does not work and I get frosties, INS will make me do FET next, and that will be it for coverage. So I am stocking up on meds lol. I hate how they only send 4 pens at a time.

Hi Ladies,

I thought I would jump in here. We are hoping to fall into the group of "Summer cycle". :-) Dh has an appointment w/ fertility specialist at the urology office on 7/21. Our problem is on his end. There's a problem w/ the tubes so no sperm gets out. As far as we know, everything is fine on my end. After his 7/21 appointment, we are planning for consultation w/ fertility clinic to be able to start IVF. We are hoping to start the whole IVF in Sept but we know paperwork, pre-exam stuff etc... will all take place prior to in order to start in Sept.

This is a great board with wonderful ladies and I'm glad to have found it.

Nancy
Me 39 "normal"
Dh 49 problem with tubes so no sperm "gets out" (basically like a vasectomy)

currently in 1st IVF -- BCP until 10/3, currently on Lupron. Suppression check 10/8. Start stims 10/9.
