Hello All,

Thank you for checking in with me and being such a support. : ) My first injections of lupron have went well. I took the abdomen route and experienced no pain, so I'm golden! However........ I believe I am having one of the worse mood swing issues ever. Very irritable and extremely tried... I did some research on lupron side effects and saw this can be common, so I suppose nothing to worry about, outside of feeling bad for my husband who is tip-toeing around the house, afraid of any unexpected barks. :( Fortunately (and sadly) I took my DD and her friend to summer camp and she will be gone for 3 Weeks... I will miss her, but am also relieved that she won't have to deal with any unexpected mood issues through this process. I'll be ready to ER and ET when she returns, so pretty close to being done. I take my last BCP tomorrow and will wait for my appointment this Friday.

Good luck to everyone this week. Praying for good news at every appointment.

Take care!

moorebaby - I have to say I too love the list you made! It makes it soooo much easier to see where everyone is at. And it looks like there's a lot happening this week, I love seeing everyone's updates!

chili - good luck tomorrow with the ER!

franny - glad today's appointment went well and hope Tuesday's will be even better with more of those other follies catching up!

lou & TammyS - thanks so much for sharing your antral counts with me! I'm glad to hear people agree with the RE that 9 for one ovary is good (I trust them, but then again they will be receiving wads of money from me when this all gets going so it's nice to have opinions from others.) :)

nancy & teresa – glad to see we may be going through it all around the same time, depending on how calendars and consultations go!

AFM, had to fly to Nebraska today for work and will fly home late tomorrow night. I had to do this same trip last week and I didn't get home until 4am so hopefully this trip will go smoother. Then I have some family coming to visit for a few days this week. So between the trip and the visit the week should go by pretty quick. We're looking forward to our next consult with the RE on the 19th so a quick week will be nice!

Hi Ryann,
We're in the Orland/Tinley area. We go to Chicago IVF. That's the only place the insurance authorized. I also spend alot of time at the local Costco. Where's your clinic?

Chili... I am seeing an RE through Loyola. Her name is Dr. Kavic and she has her office at the Oak Brook Terrace facility. Because Loyola is a Catholic hospital and doesn't allow IVF to occur at the hospital, the actual procedures will be done at Hinsdale Hospital. We didn't actually "shop around" for an RE before jumping into this, we just went with the one that my endocrinologist at Loyola recommended (which turns out to be the only one affiliated with the hospital). DH has already expressed a bit of a dislike with the clinic, while I really like them, so I have agreed that if our first one doesn't work out I would be open to looking into another clinic. He thinks that they drag everything out, but I keep trying to tell him that this is just a long process. We had our initial consult in November '09 and weren't geared and ready to actually cycle until May and then got cancelled, but I don't know that it would have moved any faster at a different clinic. Midwest Fertility Centers is really close to our house,so that would be an option. How do you like where you go? We are only 15 miles outside of the city.

Hello ... This is a great group and I am so happy that I found this site. Although I am not familiar with all the terms and such but I am sure I will learn. I have PCOS and just before starting IUI we learned that my husband has antibodies causing his swimmers not to do their jobs. This is our first cycle of IVF / ICSI and I am on Day 10 & waiting for my little follicles to grow! (Estrogen levels today were 6775 and LH @ 3) I am hoping only 2 more days of Puregon and Orgalutran and then HCG and retrieval. :D I have heard so many negative stories of first time IVF so I am hoping that I can hear some positive first timers that this may have worked for. I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to hearing more stories! :D :D :D

Sher,

Hi and welcome. I'm new here too so I don't have any valuable info. for you but I will say that the ladies here all are very encouraging and helpful.

We have been TTC for 7 years. My dh has a problem with his "tubing" so they aren't getting out. The initial doc he saw said he felt dh would be an excellent candidate for sperm aspiration. He has an appointment later this month (7/21) w/ the fertility doc. We are hoping to start IVF in Sept. We haven't actually had an appointment w/ the clinic where we'll do the IVF yet so me thinking Sept may be way off.

Anyway, congrats to you on starting IVF. So glad things are going well for you and I look forward to hearing of your BFP.

Nancy
Me 39 "normal"
Dh 49 problem with tubes so no sperm "gets out" (basically like a vasectomy)

currently in 1st IVF -- BCP until 10/3, currently on Lupron. Suppression check 10/8. Start stims 10/9.

Hi all,
Just had my bloodwork done. Will probably get the results this afternoon, 'cause that's when the clinic usually returns calls with lab results. Took today off. Have a counseling appointment which I made a month ago. I wish the appointment was AFTER getting the results...but it's out of state and I don't want to reschedule.

I am 12 dpt--or 15 days past retrieval. I am very curious as to what the test will say. No symptoms...except what the Prometrium and patches are causing.

Prayers...prayers...prayers...

Hi All,
Trying to stay away from the kitchen. I keep hearing the leftover pizza calling me. Have to be at the surgical center soon. I'm fighting my anxiety about the ER.Trying to stay calm. PMA... PMA!!!

Ryann... I do like where I go although I had no choice because of the insurance. If I had deep pockets it wouldn't be an issue. I feel they are moving very quickly because of my age. I believe we started in April with the initial consults and testing. My 1st cycle should have been in June but we were having a big shower at our house the week the ER would have taken place so it was pushed to July. The Dr made it clear that we shouldn't wait. If you are concerned about the timing ask them why things are moving slower than you expected. The only thing I don't like about the clinic is that you mainly deal with nurses, who are very good, but sometimes it's just more reassuring the hear things directly from the Dr. I'll look up the other branches of the clinic later and send you the results. Good luck to you both.

Moorebaby: I see you figured it out! Yayy! I think everyone should put a picture up now, lol. Such a cute couple! And, yes...you are rocking the list! I love it!

Ryann: Awww...look at how adorable you both are! Yes, it does get easier keeping up with everyone, once you get to know everyone. I also think it helps alot to use our first names and to see pics. We started this in my April group and it really helped alot. Midwest Fertility Centers sounds really familiar to me.

Chili: Good Luck today!!! Hoping and praying for good news today! Give us a quick update, when you are feeling better from ER, but get some rest first! Cant wait to hear how it all went.

Karin: Great story of hope...I have seen so many miracles...and hearing stories like these keep me optimistic. I am worried now that I am 42. My FSH wasnt too bad 3-3.5 years ago (when last tested) and we did get 12 follies 2.5 yrs ago with 6 good ones to work with and 1 resulting in a baby...but I wonder how much things have changed now that I am 42. Where did the years go? I am pretty sure that I have entered early menopause now with all the symptoms that I am getting....so I guess we will see soon.

Sher: Hi and Welcome! Your almost there...sooo exciting! Keep us posted on everything. My first IVF worked after 3 failed IUI's. My FET also worked even though I miscarried. So 2 for 2 and I am older, too. I count myself as very lucky as we have a multitude of problems, yet nothing major to really pinpoint, just alot of little thing that add up to 1 big problem for us. We had a 1% chance on our own. Here is a list to put in your favorites. SnS is not on there...it is Stick and Spin for bloodwork and ultrasound. Ask if you dont know what something is...there are lots of girls who dont know and feel dumb asking...dont feel dumb. HTH. http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/acronyms.html

Franny: What a rough weekend...now losing power? Geesh! I would have been panicked with the meds, too. I was spoiled too...my first RE was 8-10 minutes away...and now 45 mins. lol I loved being sooo close. We changed due to insurance. At least where my RE is now...they have some great outlet stores there to check out. lol  I hope your week is terrific to make up for such a rough weekend...the last thing any of us need is any extra stress in our lives. I wonder the same thing as you...is the animals, chemicals? What is going on with all this infertility and other problems with everyone these days? I just read that if your husbands mother drank during pregnancy (some may not have known they were pregnant at the time) that there is a good chance of male infertility. Cant remember where I read that now...but does make you wonder if there is something to it. My DH has morphology issues...and his mom was 40 and had some drinks early on...not knowing she was pregnant (she thought she was done years earlier). I am betting that those 13 follies will catch up...hoping and praying anyways! Keep the faith! Good Luck tomorrow...and keep us posted!

Tiger: I also felt implantation...though for me it was a burrowing feeling. lol I know that most people dont feel it ...so if anyone here does not feel it...dont get discouraged...very few women do feel it. Very few. Heck, it may have even been just in my mind, ya know? lol I think you should poas on Monday the 19th, too. Anything earlier, would likely be too early. They're doing your beta earlier than most docs do them. Mine isnt till 14dp3dt so 17dpo...yours is only 12/13dpo. Yes, visual thinking is an awesome thing to do in all of this. I do it, too. Glad to hear that your friend is okay...your story had me on an emotional rollercoaster. lol Have fun camping this weekend.

Fitz: Yayy for getting started today! How did everything go?

Renee': I understand about the mood swings...and I'm only on bc pills right now. I think the stress of everything and him working overtime making me feel like a single mom...has me a bit on edge right now. So I ended up apologizing last night for just being plain mean the last few days. He is so sweet and acts like I havent when he knows that I have been. lol Glad the shots are going well for you. How old is your DD? 3 weeks at camp...sounds wonderful for her! Yay for being done with bc pills today. I have 8 more days. Sounds like we are about 8 days apart in our schedule.

Klinger (Amanda): Safe travels tonight...hope you get home earlier than last week. Yay for family coming and making the week go by fast. Keep us posted when you can on everything and have a great week.

Sunshine: Good Luck today!!! Looking forward to hearing the results!!! Hoping and praying for a BFP for you! Glad to hear that you have the day off...enjoy it! Lots of prayers going out to you today! Keep us posted.

Annpage: You are a stronger woman than I, lol. It is way too early for symptoms. I never even got any...no morning sickness, nothing, with Zach. Unless you count the few seconds on 2 different occasions of nausea. I was very lucky...but at the time it made me sooo nervous, too. Most people dont feel real symptoms till closer to 5 or 6 weeks from what I hear. So no worries!

Amanda: Are you using the link with [img] around it and putting it in your signature line...and not avatar line? Dont use the avatar thing...it doesnt work.

Just curious...when did everyone give up coffee and wine/drinks? My first IVF I gave it up really early. This time...I am on bcp and still enjoying my morning coffee and am planning on giving up wine and coffee on July 19th after an evening out to our local winery for a picnic and music with friends. Dont get me wrong...I only have drinks or wine 2-3 times a month on average...but not sure if I should skip the winery or just skip drinking on the 19th now. I start stims on the 23/24th. I've heard people say before bcp's, during bcp's, and before stims. What did you do? What did your doc recommend?

Good Morning Everyone,

Sunshine - I've prayed for great news for you today. Today is your day. Please keep us posted.

Tammy Glad to know I'm not alone with the mood swings, just hoping I can better recognize them and keep everything under control. I'm new to the process and I don't drink, but my opinion would be for you to mirror the exact same things you did (and didn't do) the first time, which was successful. If you stop immediately, that may be the best thing to do this time around and not take any chances. Not sure, but just a logical opinion. : )

AFM, I'm having a bit of anxiety of the best ways to communicate my circumstance to folks without going into the actual process. Even before reading many posts here confirming our suspicions, my hubby and I wanted to keep things pretty private, in the event many people wouldn't understand; and not being bombarded with a lot of worry/pity or questions that I probably can't even answer yet. I've only shared with a few girlfriends and that's because one is the main receptionist at the clinic and another use to work there as the nurse for my doctor. Our parents aren't even aware we are going through the process. Since beginning IVF, I've had to turn down a work trip tentatively schedule during my ER/ET week (fortunately not too important of a trip) and turn down a family vacation to Cedar Point in Ohio (World's BEST Theme park everrrrr....grrr). I've just been able to say that I have some prearranged appointments during this time that I can't miss and fortunately I don't have a prying family and of course my job wouldn't ask for details. But my dilemma now is with my church. I am very active in my church and currently the leader over our dance ministry, which is more elaborate and expressive sign language than actual "dance", but nonetheless extremely physical. I start stims this Saturday and yesterday my Bishop asked if we could perform one of our most energetic routines next Sunday. I had already planned to discontinue any vigourous activity once I start stims...but was hoping that we wouldn't be invited to do something for atleast another month since we were up there on Father's Day a few week's back. The show definately goes on without me, but I'm struggling with the best way to say why I can't participate... plus I feel millions (well only 2500) of people will say "Hey, why weren't you up there?" I can be vague with people and they will just say something like, "well, we'll keep you in prayer" which is perfect... that's what I need. But I'm not that sure about being vague with my pastor who may really want to know if everything is alright and if there is anything specific he can pray for, etc. I could be wrong and just working myself up for no reason.... but I just don't feel led to share this with everyone. God is enough for me and He's the only one that can really help me out in this case anyways.... any thoughts? Am I over reacting? Should I just say something like "Nothing serious, but I do have some tests and things coming up that has required me to be on vigourous exercise limitations; I should know more in a month or so"? Obviously not a lie, but nothing too in the details. I should try to tell him before Sunday, I believe... I suppose there's worse things to have to worry about... but I enjoy my privacy, most of the time. : )

Renee'...Everyone feels differently about how comfortable they are with sharing IVF. We are pretty open and honest about it with everyone...including perfect strangers. lol There are only a few people (old classmates) on FB whom dont know...cause it is the only place, as of now, that we dont share it. Mainly because of the questions and such that I am sure they will wonder about and not ask...therefore possibly misunderstand and end up gossiping about it with each other. I grew up in a small town where gossip was huge. lol We shared it with our Pastor a long time ago...and he shared with us that he and his wife went through some sort of procedures as well...20 yrs ago. It is such a relief that he and others at church know. I would definitely not do the dance...due to your ovaries being stimulated and the possiblity of twisting. If I were you, I would either be open and honest...it is very refreshing. Or just state some minor medical issues are keeping you from dancing right now...but nothing to worry about...and thanks for your prayers. They'll likely think twisted knee or something along that lines. lol

Cedar Point!? lol We live less than hour from it. We went for the first time in many years in May...and Zach had a blast riding his first kiddie rides. The.best.time.ever. I think you should make the Cedar Point trip and just meet me for lunch instead. lol
