Hi Tammy,
We got good news-- my bloodwork shows positive so far-- beta 586...The number is higher 'cause I am a day later than what it would have normally been. 'Course I don't really understand the numbers right now. Honestly, though, I won't really know much until after the second blood test on Thursday. I just pray that I make it further than my first time (I miscarried before at 11 weeks). We are cautiously celebrating tonight...

I just spent the last 3 hrs reading thru this thread...it's very inspiring and I admit I cried a few times! I want all you over-40 ladies to know that this is indeed possible -- my mother had my sister at 44 years of age, and my sister is 42 and is currently 7 mo pregnant after years of disappointment and various fertility treatments. Don't give up!

yep, im proof never give up. my beautiful baby is 10 months and perfect. I was two months shy of my 42 birthday.

I've been a bit MIA and have multiple excuses [of course]. The primary is my hard drive died then my house was struck by lightening finishing off the computer [but not the house thankfully]. I'm borrowing a computer at the moment. I haven't had time to read all the recent posts my apologies.

Congratulations Sunshine and Stars on your BFP

AFM-we are about to begin another chapter on our journey to have another child. Last week we had our psych evaluation for pursuing donor gametes. What an interesting experience that was. Next we go through a consult with the RE to set up access to the donor information for identifying potential candidates. Watching our DD play in a play group today just reaffirmed my desire to produce a sibling [a built in playmate in our nuclear family structure]. Now it just becomes a waiting game of when the RE can work us in again.

Thinking of everyone and wishing ya'll well. Sending out lots of PMA.

Wow-- sounds exciting! I am curious about that process... we have considered it. I've been MIA too-- hubby and I have been away without access to internet or phone. Before that, I had my 6 week ultrasound (monday) and it was positive-- a healthy heartbeat! We thought that there might be twins 'cause of some high numbers, but it's just one happy little tyke. So far so good... I am due for another ultrasound in 2 weeks. I would have them every week if I could afford it! There is so much uncertainty it seems.

Hello to everyone else.

I still read, on ocassion when I am not too down. We are still unsure as to what we will do. A big part of me wants a baby and another wants us to take that money and travel and do what we want as a baby may come and take that away I do not know what I want most days as this journey has almost been 8 years in the making Sometimes it feels easier to give up than to continue to pursue, you know? Now that we have a vehicle we know we could easily travel and have the IVF if we do go this route next year once we have all the money saved. I just do not know. When my period is here I want a baby more and more and now when I am ovulationg too. Then when things do not work out I think this is for a reason. I am so stuck. Perhaps all the years of being disappointed has made me thick skinned finally where now I no longer care? I am unsure....

Sorry for the rambling, just not sure where else I can share my crazy thoughts without anyone passing judgement. My hubbyman doesn't understand and states if it is meant to be it will be. This doesn't comfort me when our IF lies with him and he cannot take his pills without me feeding them to him. Oh well I will keep on feedking him

BFK-- I read your post and man, oh man, do I get what you are saying. It is such a hard thing to contemplate-- do you go ahead with IVF? or do you stop and pursue other options and dreams? For my husband and I, we pretty much decided that I only had a few years to try and that nature would determine an ending point -- with or without. But we also had insurance, and that definitely factored in, at least after we knew that IVF was our only option. (We are not good candidates for adoption because of my husband's age) It is a roller coaster-- and even though I was able to get pregnant this round, we really aren't confident yet that I will carry to term.

Listen to your heart. The best advice that I heard from someone was to remember that whatever you decide, your life will be fuller, richer, and more beautiful than you can ever imagine-- with or without a child. Some days I believe that, and other days, I have to re-convince myself.

Also-- someone once suggested that when you decide something-- give yourself a week or two to practice "living out" that decision in your mind. In other words, live a week with the decision to go ahead with IVF (in your mind) and then feel what that is like. For another week or so, live with the decision not to have children -- or to pursue other options. Which decision, after the week is through, brings you greater peace and joy?

I don't know if this will help you-- but I truly hope that you find comfort and peace in just sharing and being able to vent. And you are not alone on this crazy journey.
