August Frozen Transfer

Post by blairwh58 »

I saw that with the summer cycle group a lot of the ladies are already midcycle or close to finishing, so I thought maybe it would be nice to start an August Frozen Transfer Group. If anyone else is interested we can keep it going. AF just started today and I will be starting birth control on Sunday July 18. Then I have to make an appt with RE about the calendar we will follow for an August transfer. Anyone else on a similar schedule?

Blair, glad to see you started a specific August group. That Summer group is looking pretty busy and they are in all kinds of stages right now. Hoping for good vibes for all of them. I'm not sure when I will actually do transfer but it is supposed to be in August. I go to RE Friday and hope to have an idea about August. Glad to see we may be on the same tract!!!

Sounds like we may really be on similar scheduled this time around. Let me know how your appointment goes on Friday.

As for me I am starting Birth Control on cycle day 5 and then I have an appt with RE on July 23. Hopefully this ends up being a good cycle for both of us!

kizmet- Its exciting that we may all end up being on the same schedule. I am so anxious to find out my schedule, but of course I wont have any idea until the appointment next friday. What is that pyrognova that you had mentioned? How many do you think you will be transferring?

Hey Blair,

Just transferring the one embie. I only have two frozens and don't want to put all my eggs in one basket so to speak. I had a really tough time just getting those two embies (I was hospitalised, including a nice little stay in ICU, with severe OHSS in May), so I just can't bring myself to put them in together - not that it is really an option as the rules are different her in Australia and although they will put two back, they need a good reason to (at least that is the way my clinic rolls). Hopefully the first one works and we can use the second one at a later date, if not, we'll use both frozens this year and then try another fresh cycle next May (I have a friend's wedding in Samoa in April, so if I'm not pregnant, well go to that and have a little break from the IVF between the last FET and May 2011).

Progynova is an estradiol supplement.

Good luck with your appt on the 23rd!

Kizmet- sounds like you had a very tough time getting those 2 frozen ones. And it does sound like the rules over there are different than they are over here. With our IVF last month they got 13 eggs and all were fertilzed, but after we transferred 2 there were 6 that could be frozen. We are hopefully going to transfer 2 (I think I would be ok with transferring 3 since the chance of triplets is so low, but since I'm only 25 they won't transfer more than 2 without good reason) this time around, and will ideally have the others for the next go arounds. Hopefully this board is very positive and we all end up with a baby next may. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Glad to see both of you guys in August too! I just got back from my RE appointment. Looks we are shooting for 8/20 for transfer of my one frozen embryo. Blair I think it is a good idea to transfer 2 that way you have 2 more in reserve. I now wish I would have given that 4 cell that I transferred (making me 3 tranferred) a chance to freeze. But at the time, out of the 5, two just had lots of fragmentation and we didn't think they would have frozen. So now I think, hmmmm, should I only transferred two and give the 4 cell a chance to freeze. But in this field, you can't go on what if's! I'm on a different protocol for the FET than Fresh. We are increasing my estrogen pills and changing from a estrogen patch to IM injections. Also using Lupron this time and also changing from progesterone vaginal suppositories to IM injections. Who knows, hopefully this one will work!

I look forward to hearing kizmet and blairwh58 updates.

Well it felt really wierd this morning to be taking birth control for the first time in almost 2 years. Hopefully I won't be on them long. Getting anxious for my appointment with RE friday so we can figure out the schedule for this cycle.

Odd taking BCP isn't it? I'd never really taken it at all, since DH has been my only partner and he's had a vasectomy since I met him. The first time I took it was to control bleeding (PCOS deciding to really hit me below the belt when we went to Europe for a month - bled for a week before we left, the whole time we were away and a week after til I could get in to see my GP) and I was thankful I'd never needed it for contraception since I was LOUSY at remembering to take it!

Hope all is going well. I'm still chugging away on BCP til the weekend, then three days off before starting the progynova three times a day. I'm so excited about this cycle. I guess because DH and I have never tried to conceive because it's never been possible, I look forward to trying because there's no preconceived feeling of it not working if you know what I mean. I've never been thinking that my AF hasn't arrived because I'm PG, I've always known it hasn't turned up because I'm hormonally unstable!

Hope all is going well ladies, check back in soon!

Yea...this whole infertility issue has taught me one thing for sure- over the years I wasted quite a bit of money on birth control in the past. Makes me laugh to think we tried not to get pregnant for so long, when all along we didn't even need the birth control. I'm sure you are excited to start the other meds soon. Starting those means you are closer to the transfer date. Getting excited for all of us- I'm sure its going to be a great cycle!

Good luck with the appointment Blair! I hope you get some dates as I think that really helps settle the nerves and focus your attention!

DH and I are off to visit some friends for the weekend. They have a six month old daughter that I haven't seen for a couple of months, so I'm looking forward to seeing her!

Well...not as soon as I wanted but I guess we shouldn't try to rush this process. I guess what's a little frustrating is that they talked about how much faster the frozen transfer protocol is, but its taking 2 months. With the failed IUI in may we were about to do the ivf 4 weeks later. I guess at this point I am just getting impatient. Anyway- starting lupron july 29, stopping birth control aug 3, and then all the estrogen around aug 6. Appointment to check lining Aug 20, and tentative transfer Aug 24. Realling hoping this ends up being a great cycle and I end up with a may baby.

Hope all is well with you guys, and kizmet have fun visiting friends this weekend.

Well I can already tell a difference since being on the Birth Control. I feel so moody and irritable lately. I am just glad that I get to stop the Birth Control next Tuesday and start up all the estrogen not long after that.

How are things coming along with you all?
