What week does your clinic do a first u/s? XPOST

Post by DandMe »

Just curious! We don't get one until 7weeks. Ugh. Still have to wait until Friday.... When does your clinic do yours and if it's very early, do they do a follow up?

Hello Sonya!

My clinic waits until 7 weeks too. Actually, my RE was on vacation so I had to wait a couple extra days. I started bleeding during the time he was gone though and that was frustrating as all hell since the Army docs didn't know shit and scared me and worried me half to death. BUT everything was fine of course, it wasn't a miscarriage at all but twins and a SCH. Anyway, I know some clinics will want a patient to come in earlier to see a sac, but I think that is a waste of time and money unless you are lucky enough to have insurance cover it. It was all out of pocket for me. In the end I think it is worth the wait to see the HB and not worry for an extra week or so if there will be one. :) Just think positive, see that heartbeat in your mind and your baby growing. It really does help the nerves.

It seems the clinics are all over from 5 to 8 weeks on ultrasounds. I'm staggering between wanting to believe that I am finally pregnant (nearly three years ttc), and bracing myself for yet another painful experience. I'm doing the positive thinking thing for sure, and have moderate ms (sometimes pretty bad, sometimes nothing at all) to comfort me. I've done well with the wait up until today I think... now the reality of getting a real answer is looming.

Sonya,

I know that feeling! Unfortunately, even after the HB is there and you have a picture of your growing little bean, you will still worry. It's a curse meant only for us who have tried so hard to conceive. There is always those thoughts that creep in spite the proof. Even now for me I have dreams about my water breaking and going into premature labor or my placenta previa bleeding and not stopping. Just keep the PMA up and know in your heart that your baby is just fine and tell your mind to stop sending you those worries. :) I still have to do that from time to time.

Ours also does it at 7 weeks, although my beta numbers had leveled off so they brought me in early (5 weeks 5 days) because they thought it was ectopic. They were wrong. :)

It's great to see someone with similar betas to mine. I am going pretty crazy here waiting and wondering! LOL I almost went in for another beta this morning but if it's not good it will just add more stress to my life. Thanks for answering.
