A bit OT for this thread but I've seen it mentioned a couple of times and I'm wondering about it.

I've seen ppl talk about the pain of ER. I thought you were sedated for that procedure. Am I wrong? Makes me nervous to read ppl talk about the pain of it all. I'm such a whimp when it comes to pain.

Nancy,

I was sedated for my ER and it went fine. I remember my anesthesist (who had a 6yo from IVF and a 3 yo from FET at the same clinic) telling me she was giving my something in my IV just before the RE started and next thing I know the nurse were taking me out of the strirrups just before I was being wheeled to recovery. As far as afterwards, I slept on the couch the whole day and the only pain pill I took was that night brfore going to bed. The next day I felt some mild pain, like menstrual cramps and only took 1 or 2 doses of ibuprofen. The following day I was back to normal.

Franny - You're too quiet lately, you make me nervous when you get quiet. You get OUT of CrazyTown right now! I dont mean to yell at you, but I have a feeling thats where you are, so go see amovie, go to dinner with Barry anything that will get your mind off of this for awhile please - you've only got a few days left - you can do this! - xoxoxoxo

Karin - Aw, thanks, hon. my RE said the same thing to me, less than 10% chance qwith my eggs, vs a 70% chance with DE or donor embies, I didnt hesitate, but at that point I'd been at this far too long and we're all out of pocket, plus my heart just couldnt take any more bad news from my RE, i just thought I'd bring it up since theres such a huge difference in cost. If your DH wants to do DE and you all can swing it financially - go for it. Good Luck whichever you decide - xoxo

Lou - Ouch, damn needles! hoping you grow lots of healthy follies! miss you loads! - xoxo

Nancy - last cycle I was sedated (completely knocked out) for the ER so it wasn't painful from what I could tell. Afterwards it was uncomfortable for the rest of the day but nothing too awful - sort of crampy and like I had a really full bladdar. Coming back from the dr's office everytime my DH would break, I could feel it - I recommend laying down in the back seat to avoid this. I didn't take any medicine until several hours later - too some extra strength tylenol in the evening mostly just to ensure I was comfortable and get a good nights sleep.

sonya my heart is breaking for you and DH! i am in shock after reading your post! its not fair, and it sucks! i am so so so sorry. the thought of you having to go through this again is killing me! please know you are in my thoughts. please let me know what the RE says. i am totally in shock! (((((((((((hugs))))))))))))

afm i dont think i'm in crazytown. after over 3 years of TTC, and all those months of thinking i might be pregnant to end up not being pregnant made me get to know my body and its symptoms very very well. and well..this feels just like all the other months and months of BFN's. the spotting continues. i did decide to up my PIO shot a little bit today just to see what happened. i didnt call me RE. i called the the last 2 cycles i was spotting and they told me the same ol thing "its normal..dont worry" well look where that got me...2 BFN's. i dont think its normal...i think its just AF coming, but cant because of the PIO. i bawled my eyes out all day and night yesterday..i thought this cycle wasnt supposed to bother me...it was my "what the hell..might as well be doing something before going to a new RE" cycle. i wasnt supposed to get upset. you would think after 4 bad cycles the 5th one wouldnt hurt so badly...i guess i was wrong.
i have no intention of POAS. why waste my money? i just wish i didnt have to wait until thursday for my beta. its going to be a long week.
i wont be around tomorrow because a bunch of our friends from NYC rented this HUGE 9 bedroom log cabin on lake winnipesakee here in NH, and invited us up for the day! (wish we could stay longer but DH is teaching summer school!)
this place is amazing though...it has its own private beach, and the views off the 3rd floor are to die for!! (they rented it last year too!) it will be nice to be away from the computer and tv and just sit on a rocking chair and listen to the waves of the lake. the only bad thing is that all of our friends all have kids and babies (between 5 and newborns) so that always sucks...and running away to do my butt shot will be interesting too!!
anyway thank you all for your thoughts. i'm already wondering if i should call the new RE next week, and get my next cycle going so when AF shows up i will be all set....

***much love always***

Hi Nbfun,
I was sedated for my ER. Don't remember a thing. They called it Twilight Sedation. No tubes down the throat but I was out. They told me where to lay on the table and I started telling the nurse how cute her glasses were and I don't remember anything till the recovery room. I also had a pad between my legs that I didn't know was there. I also remember them asking my name and birthdate before I went under. I barely felt any pain except for slight cramping afterwards and I didn't need any pain meds. Believe me, I'm a wimp with pain. I need 4 shots just to get a filling. You'll do fine. Don't stress over it. Hope you have lots of follies in there. Good luck to you!
Hugs and Baby dust to You,
Chili :)

Sonya-- I am so sorry and my heart aches for you and your husband. I'm pounding on heaven's door today-- last night I had to write a sermon on prayer of all things and I kept arguing with God and this other book that I am reading. It drives me nuts when things like this happen because they are so unfair. Please know that you are in my thoughts... I also want to say thanks for the encouragement that you have given to others...it has made a difference to me.

Hi Everyone -

I did have some pain after my ER but like everyone's said - you are knocked out for it...my RE let me bring in music that I wanted to listen to so I brought in country and I just remember him walking into the room and going "What is this?" and then I was slowly fading away (I'm pretty sure he changed it as soon as I was out!" haha!

Franny - I'm thinking & praying for you - I sent you a PM - know I'm here if you need me!

Teresa - HELLO! :) Hope you're doing well - I'm still just doing Lupron, nothing new here :) No blood or bruising yet (go us!)

Everyone else - baby dust & happy thoughts!

HOpe everyone has a great weekend!

Hi everyone... quick flying post from my phone.

Annashope - I'm not giving up on your little bean yet either. We've all heard miracle stories of low betas making it. Sending you loads of positive vibes.

Sonya - I'm shocked & saddened to hear your news. I can't believe this happened to you again. So unfair. I'm so sorry.

Franny - I'm not giving up on you yet either. I know you know your body but I'm praying you get the surprise of your life on beta day.

GoGirl & kbillsy - welcome! Lots of support to be had here.

AFM - started stims last night! Did my shots then went out to a club where a good band was playing. I ended up having a few beers. Is that bad? I'm going to refrain from this point on though. Gosh I really hope those follies are waking up in there. I think I feel a few twinges on the left already. Is it ok to work out while stimming? I'm not talking about running a marathon, but stationary biking? Weights? I'm sure I shouldn't play tennis, but I'm in a league so I'm going to anyway. It's doubles so much less intense than singles. I'll tone it down a bit. SnS on Tuesday.

lou - congrats on starting the stims!! I think a few beers last night won't hurt anything. I had two glasses of wine just a few days before my ER and it didn't affect anything. Good luck! You know we are all rooting for you!

Franny--It's good to hear that you're not in crazytown! I knew you weren't....because I have been there all weekend and I didn't see you...hehehe. I think that I am just about to leave there thank goodness. Have a nice time with your friends. Sound like fun! Your wait is almost over. Have faith.

Lou--Sounds like you had a fun-filled weekend. I think a few beers is fine. It's only one night. I had a cold beer myself last night. DH and I went out and had steak. I have been craving a cold beer for weeks. My acupuncturist says nothing cold, so I haven't had anything cold in months. Then I had ice cream for dessert. It was so good! Now I am back to all things warm again.

NBfun--I was sedated too. I actually didn't mind it. You get some much needed rest. I went home and crashed on the sofa for about 4 hours after. It was great! You are sore in the abdomen, but it's fine. My RE told me that I could take Tylenol PM if I wanted that night. I don't remember if I did or not. You'll be fine.

Sonya--Thinking of you today...

AFM--My DH came home yesterday afternoon from the camping trip. They had a great time. Hannah went with his brother to their house because she wanted to see their youngest baby, Beckham, he's 3 mo and she adores him. It gave us time to talk about our situation more. We were actually able to get through it without crying. I think that I cried myself out the days before. AF finally came yesterday evening. I will call my RE in the morning and go in for antral follicle count. We've decided that if it's not good that we will go straight to donor. We both feel like we need a better chance at success. I am praying that the count will be good so that we will have another shot at it. It's scary financially. It's like...if it works...you save 30k and if it doesn't...it cost you an extra 12 on top of the 30. If we don't go for our own then it's straight up 30. Either way...it's alot of money. It's so scary. We still need to be able to support the child when it comes...right? And we still have Hannah to think about. She's 11 and will be going to college in 7 years. Talking about putting a dent in her college fund.

I hope that you ladies are having a wonderful day! Catch up with you tomorrow!

just quick check in. just got home from ER. 12 eggs. They said the other follies were measurable but too small. But the ones they got were really good from the looks of them. We are on a 2/3/5 flex transfer plan given my history. So I may have 2 day but if they look good, 3 day and if there is enough and they are doing well we will shoot for 5.....I am sore. Thankfully not as bad as last ER but still going to lie down a bit. TTYL

Lou - I won't say how many beers I had last night at Bon Jovi lol! Don't worry about it. I had an ultrasound two days before New Years Eve. I was thinking I might be told to trigger that night which would have meant ER on NYE. The girl doing the U/S said she did not think they would tell me to trigger that night, but at least I could drink on NYE. I asked if drinking was ok and she said everyone does. I would not do it every night, but if there is an event one night it's no big deal. I am exhausted today and never drinking again though! Bon Jovi was good, but they play too many new songs, not enough old.

Karin - I did back to back IVFs. ER was on 1/2/10 and then 2/21/10. My FET was 4/16/10. After both BFN I went on bcp for a couple of weeks then started over. I had to get a D&C after FET so no choice but to wait after that. Why does your accupunturist say to eat warm foods?

Sonya - So sorry! There are really no words, it totally sucks!!

AFM - I have done 4 nights of stims and I had to drag myself out of bed this morning to go for blood test. My E2 was 91. I am the slowest stimmer! The nurse asked why I did not get an u/s...oops. I don't remember them telling me to. It's not like I would have much going on there anyway, and last time I did not get an u/s til day 6. Now I have to go back Tuesday. I hate driving there!!!

Miyaya-- A dozen....that's great! :D Get some rest. Keep us posted!

Lauren--Bon Jovi is definitely a good excuse to blow off some steam! :) Good for you! As for the warm foods, he says that your female organs respond better. He also said that anything cold while on your 2ww could keep the embryo from implanting or m/c. I don't know how true it is. He also says to keep your feet warm. I wear socks all the time except when it's really warm outside and I wear flip flops. My DH thinks that I read too much into it. I'm ok with it though. You get used to it. I will do anything to help increase my odds. Every time we go to a restaurant and I order warm water they look at me like I'm crazy. It doesn't have to be warm, just room temp. I'm sure there's lots of women that get pregnant and drink cold water daily. Who knows? Good luck on your stims!
