Re: Summer cycle group

Post by margi26 »

It is so helpful to read the posts from so many women experiencing the same thing. I really don't have friends that "understand" what I am going through so it is really tough....I am right now in I guess what is called "beta hell". I am struggling with low betas...I go Monday for my third which will hopefully show a big rise, but I am not too hopeful. My RE says that she has seen these kind of levels go either way, but from what I have been reading they are extremely low. My pregnancy symptoms aren't very strong either...breast tenderness and feeling tired, but not much else...I am trying to remain hopeful, but it isn't easy.

My DH is just glad I am healthy since my first attempt at IVF put me in and out of the hospital for nearly 2 months with extreme OHSS and then ectopic pregnancy--with twin embies-- that ruptured...but I am past all that and am so wanting to be pregnant. :(

Any thoughts on my low betas would be appreciated....honesty is fine!!

Thank you,

I completely understand what you are going through. I am in the same beta hell 1st 28 2nd 46 and 3rd 148. My RE scheduled an ultrasound in about a week but I have read that there are countless stories of success with our kinds of numbers so stay positive and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers

Wow I completely understand what you mean by not wanting to attend kid related events!!!! Over the past 3 years that DH and I have been trying to conceive 11 of our friends got pregnant (some not married, some pro-choice ) and all through baby showers and baptisms and no matter how hard you try to be supportive it starts getting to you. My ER was on July 4th but on the 3rd my baby sister who is 17 and in high school came over with her boyfriend in tears and ended up being pregnant!!! OMG it is so hard to comfort people who believe that a baby has ruined their life!!! So sweety I totally understand what you are talking about :)

Hi All,
Busy all day with yard work. I love cutting the grass! It's my escape. Had my period the last few days, very heavy with lots of cramping. It's unusual but I figured it's from all the meds I was on. Started the BCPs on Friday and had the blood tests. The fun begins.

Lou- Hey blond sis, just watching "The Blues Brothers" right now. Gotta love that - "Sweet Home Chicago" right? Those shots are soo much fun aren't they? We can't get enough of them. They told me it was OK to have a few drinks, but don't get crazy. The accup DR told me not to drink at all. Damn,I do love my wine in the evening. I decided no drinking with the next cycle. The odds are stacked against me at 46 so maybe that will help. They also told me - no marathons and no spinning classes while stimming, not too much jarring of the body. I do the gym 4 days a week so I had to be careful in my classes. Good lucks with SNS. Take care!
PS I'm technologically challenged. I'll never be able to get a picture here. I'll keep trying, though.

Sonya- So Sorry!! :( My heart goes out to you!

Franny- Everything's still crossed for you! Hoping for that big miracle!

Karin- Glad to hear you had "the talk". You know, young girls love to play with babies. Your Hannah will enjoy playing with your baby(s) WHEN! it happens, and it will, whether you use your eggs or a donor's. I know it's alot of cash but you and your DH will be so happy when your holding that baby(s)! Hey, I was really cash strapped when my daughter was born 28 yrs ago but my ex and I managed. She's married and has 3 beautiful girls. :D They aren't rich but those kids are so happy! Hang in there!!! PMA!!!

Love, Hugs and Baby Dust to All,
Chili :)

Anna,

Thank you for the positive thoughts! We are quite similar indeed...I hope that my third beta goes as high as yours...when is your u/s scheduled for? We must be very close in terms of our calendars? My retrieval was 7/5 and my transfer was 7/7....

I am definitely sending you all the baby dust that I can!

Hope to hear your positive news soon...I will keep you posted as well.

Hi all...
Franny: I have a good feeling for you this cycle...so keep the faith girlie! How was your day trip? Sounds awesome!

Margi: Congrats! Your pregnant!!! Honestly, your numbers are fine. I see numbers like these all.the.time. Yes, we wish they were higher, but some girls get the higher numbers and some dont. There is a huge range of "normal" and you are well within range.

Chili: Yayy for AF and getting started again!

Sonya: My heart is just breaking for you and your DH. It's just sooo unfair. I'm really really sorry. Big Hugs.

Karin: Glad AF is here and I am praying for a high antral follicle count today. Good Luck with whatever you decide. You are such a strong woman and you WILL get your baby. Keep us posted.

Annashope: Same goes to you! Keep the faith...your numbers are fine! Congrats again!

Fitz: I understand how you feel. I have 30 nieces and nephews and greats...and at one point found out that one of our IUI cycles failed on my nieces birthday and ended up breaking down at her party that afternoon. It was very hard.

Miyaya: 12 is terrific!!! WTG! Get some rest and praying for a great fertilization report today!

Lauren and Lou: How is stimming going? I go back on Tuesday, too. We are all on the same schedule so far. lol I will likely stim for 12 days though cause I am on the microdose lupron protocol.

Lou: I was told no exercising due to our ovaries being stimulated. You wouldnt want ovarian torsion. Please be careful.

Lauren: I am a slow stimmer too. Bon Jovi was just here in town, too. My brothers and SIL's went to see him...kinda wishing we had gone now...but just wasnt in the mood when tickets went on sale. Oh well, next time.

Gogirl and kbillsy: Hi and Welcome girls!

Gogirl: I also had a polyp/fibroid removed before starting procedures. I had a big one blocking my uterus opening...hmmm...guess I really never needed those bcp's...since I had my own IUD going on in there. lol Oh the money I could have saved. lol I am still full of fibroids now...but did get pregnant 2 out of 2 times with IVF (miscarried once). So hoping my babies find a place to implant again this time.

kbillsy: Do you know when you will be having ER and ET approximately? It sounds like you are close to a few of us.

McFarland: Still on lupron? What is your schedule like...just curious if your dates are close to mine.

Sunshine: Hope you are doing well. When is your ultrasound? I'm so excited to see if you are looking at twins. =)

Nancy: They ended up doing a spinal on me for ER in Jan '08. I was worried about being put under due to some anesthesia issues I have been having. I get low O2 saturation levels and sleep apnea issues for 24 hours after anesthesia. I dont know what they plan to do this time...since I have lost weight and dont know if that was the main reason for my issues. I hate the spinal cause they cant get it in due to my bones being too close together or something like that they said. Anyhow, point is...I was awake for the ER. They said almost no one ever gets to witness it being done. I got to watch it on the screen, count with them as they retrieved them, and got to watch them put them into the dishes and everything. Very cool.

Didi: Did you get more sticks? What happened? Praying for good news for you!

AFM: After the big meds drama...everything has been smooth sailing since. I had a SnS on Friday. They found 4-5 antral follicles on the right and 4-6 on the left. I had 14 eggs of which they retrieved 12 in Jan '08. So ..I guess my age is catching up with me a bit now. She said that there may be more that she doesnt see...so hoping that is the case. They seemed very happy with that number and after googling ...I see that it really is good for my age. So I will shut up now and be happy. lol

The nurse asked me if I had gotten AF yet and I said, no...but that I wasnt surprised because they told me 2.5 yrs ago that I may or may not get one...and I didnt and I got pregnant with Zach. She looked back at my charts and said yes ...you're right ...because your e2 levels were nice and low at 13. So she said hopefully my e2 levels were low and she would call me later to let me know that everything was still a go. Well, she called and said "It is a 5. Wow!" lol Now, that is nice and low.

So, I started 20 units of microdose lupron Friday night. I got AF Saturday morning...just my luck. I have read that it is normal and fine to bleed while on lupron...so no worries there. On Saturday morning I started 225iu of follistim and 20 units of lupron at 9am and 9pm, too. I am one moody beotch...let me tell you. Maybe it is a good thing that DH is working overtime right now and I dont see him much. lol I go back Tuesday for another SnS and then probably again on Friday...if everything goes the same as Jan '08 anyhow. I was reading my old journal and comparing notes. Seems like this cycle is almost identical so far.

My husband Bill plays lead guitar and sings in a rock band and they played out last night in the Battle of the Bands (all originals that Bill wrote)...we havent heard who won yet...we were there at 6pm and it went all night. I was pretty proud of both Bill and I for drinking sprite all night...especially him, I could never get up there in front of all of those people and do what he does...without a few too many. lol

To everyone else...sending lots of baby dust, hugs, and prayers for all of our dreams to come true.

Hey ladies. Phew, I slept like 16 hours yesterday. Love VERSED!!!!!!!!!!! Ha ha. I am feeling much better today! Luckily this time the pain after ER was better than last. I have to admit, I was really scared yesterday because IVF #2 was not so pleasant but I think the surgeon doing the ER last time was a tad too aggressive. I mean 21 eggs but I question how mature they were. I think he just liked to hunt and peck! Ha ha. I am happy with 12. Seems like a good solid number. It will be interesting to see when ET is...I hope not tomorrow on day 2....that cannot be good if they do not make it further.

Tammy~ Good luck with stims. Sounds like your cycle will be pretty predictable if so similar to last time. I do not know about you, but that made this cycle easier for me.

Chili~ I laughed when I saw you like cutting the grass. I am sure my DH would love you to come over to mos ours:)

annashope~ I am thinking of you. Hoping for good news on those beta's! Hang tight, miracles happen everyday.

Lauren~ good for you on letting loose. We all need to do that some times. hey, before DS, I was sure I was not preggars. The day before beta I was...well....tanked. I was depressed, with girls at a fun BBQ on a lake....low and behold, I got my BFP. I think sometimes you need to just unwind. My godmother was pregnant with twins and was so stressed...her OB told her it was ok to have a coorslight everynight! But just one. Go figure! I guess they thought it was better for her to unwind then to be so stressed for the babies!

Franny~ I have to say, I just love your attitude! I so hope you are wrong and this is your time. I have seen ya here on the boards for a while and no one deserves this more!

Well I am off to be a lady of leisure today. I figured I might as well rest at the pool on this fine day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

babyluv -- Thanks! I really appreciate the support.

karin -- I've heard "nothing cold" too from my accupuncturist. But... I'm not taking it too much to heart either. During the day I start with some hot green tea and put it in a big thermos. By lunchtime it's room temp and I sip it all day. However... I do have one or two cold beverages with ice per day too. It's freaking hot outside! What AFC is considered "not good" by your RE? I know in theory it sounds silly, but I am worried about my response and my AFC was 20-22. See in the past it was around 15 and I only got 6-7 eggs and 3 embies from that. Now I'm hoping for at least that many. Do you know what percentage of your AFC is expected to produce eggs? I seem to run about 50% only. :( Maybe this time will be different.

miyaya -- 12 is great! Hope you get a 3 or 5 day transfer! Keep us posted!

Lauren1171 -- How was Bon Jovi? You can see the footage I shot at a show in 2008 on YouTube. I was right up front and even got on the stage for three songs. Just search for my page under "DocLHR". I got to touch Jon 3 times as well. I didn't want to let go...lol. I'm going on Friday to the Chicago show. I have my u/s tomorrow too. I have been a pretty fast stimmer in the past going about 8 days. How much Follistim are you on? I take 450 units. Maybe that's the difference?Good luck tomorrow.... hope your E2 is rising and those follies are growing!

Margi -- Yes, your betas are very low but I'm pulling for you. Anything is possible. We've all heard about the miracles on this board.

Chili -- Oh, I love the Blues Brothers! Great Chicago movie. And thanks for the drinking and exercise advice. No more alcohol for me this cycle and I'm toning down the exercise quite a bit too.

TammyS-- Thanks. I will be careful with exercise. I started my stims on Saturday too! Interesting you take your meds twice a day whereas I just take 450 units Follistim in the evening between 6 and 10PM. Tomorrow is my SnS as well. Good luck to us both!

AFM -- I think I feel a few twinges in my ovaries. I hope that's a good sign. I have my SnS tomorrow and I'm sooooo nervous. The previous two times I've stimmed, whatever was there at my first SnS is what was mature for retrieval. Both times I had 4 mature eggs and that's what was "good sized" at my first SnS. The others just lag behind too far. I hope tomorrow there are more than 4 in the same size range. Other than that... DH and I are looking forward to seeing Bon Jovi on Friday night. Well, I'm looking forward to it and he will tolerate it.

I went for my antral follicle count this morning and it wasn't good. He said that I had 3 on the right and 1 on the left and he thinks they are left over from last cycle. I am so frustrated right now. I was really hoping to get started on another cycle. He said to call him with my next period. Now I'm looking for a donor. It's not going to be easy. Nothing like looking for your baby's mama to stress you out.

I hope that you ladies have a wonderful day! :) I will do personals later.

Miyaya: Wow 12 that's great!! Keep us posted!!

Lou: Have a great time @ the Bon Jovi concert!! Let loose..lol

Karin: I'm so sorry to hear. Good luck on whatever you choose!!

Tammy: I'm glad to hear you're stimming nicely!!!

AFM: I had some bleeding this morning of course I was very nervous. I had my 3rd beta today & 1st u/s.
My Betas are now 6,309. My u/s showed 2 gestational sacs - 1 w/ yoke & the other didn't have one- I'm 5weeks 2days. At my 2nd Beta my nurse mentioned it may be multiples so I was hoping for that. She said the next ultrasound will be on 8/5 & then we'll see what's going on. She said it can be it's growing slower than the other or it just doesn't make it. We're pleased to at least have one :)

Karin - sorry about the low count!

Klinger13 - I hope you don't have to wait too long for AF!

Lou - I am doing 450 Gonal F plus 150 Menopur. I was watching your videos and they are great!!! So close!

Miyaya - I wish I was at the pool too! It's so nice out today. At least I have Wednesday off though.

Chili - I don't have the slightest idea how to even turn on that lawnmower. I do the laundry. DH is not allowed to do laundry anymore.

AFM - I am exhausted!!!! I can't wait for ER so I can be done with meds! I left a message for the nurse to see if I can skip tomorrow and go Wednesday. I am dreading waking up at 6 AM tomorrow and driving there! Since I am off Wed I can go later. Plus DH has to go Wed anyway for a blood test.
