AFM Started a tiny bit of pinkish mucousy spotting yesterday. Sorry for tmi. I am not holding out too much hope even though we are trying to stay somewhat positive. I have almost no cervix fro previous cervical cancer so maybe the spotting is from that...I don't know anymore

Husband and I are going to take a break and do another cycle in January. We are able to get pregnant on our own so we're just flushing everything down the drain and going back to having a few glasses of wine on the weekends and letting ourselves fall back into love without doctors looking over our shoulders.

I started my bleed yesterday, just a day after stopping the progesterone, so most likely that was keeping me from letting everything cleanse itself. It feels good to be back to normal in some strange way. I spent the day doing physical labour building onto our huge deck in the back yard. Beer, sweat and sunshine do wonders for the mind and body.

Not sure if anyone is posting-- I just got back from being away for about a week. We had our 6 week ultrasound and we saw a heartbeat...thank god! We also learned my due date--3/20/2010. It seems so far away. Been drinking lots of cranberry juice...Next check will be at 8 weeks... I really hope that the RE "keeps us" until around the 11th week, 'cause I need the hand-holding and reassurance. Usually, they discharge to an ob-gyn around now, but I want to stay with them. Weird, yes.

sunshine and stars - glad to hear everything is well. I'm due the 3rd of March. My RE doesn't release us till 12th week. I go see my ob/gyn their first visit is 2 hours so I already made it. I have to get the blood/ultrsound test to make sure the baby is fine. We have to pay for our ultrasounds out of pocket and I had a sub-chrionic bleed so I have been getting alot of scans. It will all be worth it, us cuddling up to our winter babies

Jenice-- best wishes to you too! What is a sub-chrionic bleed??? If they could scan me everyday or every other day, I swear I'd do it...I am that freaked out. The acupunture appointment is on Monday-- this will be new for me!

Been sleeping a lot today-- just don't feel like doing too much. Hubby and I are on vacation now, so I really don't have to do anything except my taxes which are way late (I got an extension) Ugh. I should have taken everything to an accountant.
Anyway, we are going to have a yard sale next weekend. I have decided to get rid of a bunch of stuff that I don't use or don't wear or whatever. It's a kind of mental clearing-out and cleaning up. Except my DH is going to have to do all of the heavy lifting.

Hi Sunshine and Stars. Must have been nice to be on holidays. Congrats on the heartbeat. I too had my scan this morning and saw the little flicker!! It was such a relief. i am 7.5 weeks now and due 18th Mar. My next scan is not for 3 weeks so i will be 10.5 weeks by then. My appointments have been really quite sparse. I have only had 3 including the preg test and scan this am. I am now trying to work out the best obgyn to go to. Do you pick a good one whos really busy or one that doesnt have the same rep but has more time? Hmm.

Have you had many symptoms? Have you told people yet?

Hi Kate--
yeah! We are due around the same time-- I am just a little later than you-- March 20, at least that's what they told me...but I am only 7 weeks yesterday, so I am not sure how they are calculating. Anyway, we haven't told many people because of my former miscarriage. The next few weeks are scary for me because of that. I went to an acupuncturist yesterday for the first time-- weird, but also wonderful and relaxing. I am going again in 2 weeks even though it's not cheap to do. I figure it will help.

About the ob-gyn selection-- we are pretty much choosing based on the location of our local hospital and because of the reputation of the ob-gyn. Even though I miscarried with the last pregnancy, we had an over-all good experience and trusted the docs. So, for us, it's just a matter of transitioning...I am not quite ready yet. No surprise there.

I have another scan in 2 weeks, mostly because they want to see if I am "passing" the appropiate markers prior to discharge from the RE.

About symptoms-- I am queasy most of the day, esp after meals (which makes no sense to me) but not sick enough to actually barf-- just belch (sorry if too much info!). I am also wicked tired. No energy-- or little energy.

I have the same queasiness. Just feel sick all the time but no vomitting so I figure I cant really complain. I'm kinda glad too because i am not sure how I would explain it as we are not telling anyone yet either. I find i feel better when i eat but only if i dont eat too much. I get most sick when i am hungry which seems to be all the time.

I have been seeing an accupuncturist since January. I think it has helped me a lot. it has certainly helped me control my stress levels. i go every week!

I cant wait til week 12. I just want to be able to scream from the rooftops that I am pregnant. i am a PE teacher and am finding it hard to explain why I no longer want to join in the games with my classes.

Hi all-
I had my 8 week scan and all is well. We did have a small surprise-- they found another embie, but there was no heartbeat and it was not growing, not viable. But the first embie is growing well and there is "good growth" and a good heartbeat.
I am needing prayers and sticky vibes b/c it is getting closer to my former m/c date and I am trying not to be anxious.
They told me that the next few weeks are crucial and I don't know whether I will have the tests that they are recommending-- I just don't know.
Ugh. I turn 41 in Sept.

Stay positive Sunshine and Stars. I know it must be very stressful but try to believe everything will be ok. I am trying to do that and just enjoy being pregnant while I am.

What tests are they suggesting you have? I have my next scan Monday week and am really excited to see the heartbeat again. They havent suggested any other tests at this stage so I am quite happy about that.

Hi Katels--
Good to hear from you and thanx for the good wishes and positive thoughts. About the testing-- these are fairly "standard" tests offered for women who are 35+ or over 40 years old. The fear is old eggs with me, which could lead to chromosomal issues (downs syndrome and other birth defects). The tests are a series of scans at certain weeks. The first scan is not invasive (it is basically an in depth U/S coupled with a blood test, I think). The first scan measures the fluid at the back of the baby's neck. It has a fancy name, something "translucency" scan... Anyway, it was during this particular test that they discovered that my former pregnancy was going to miscarry, not b/c of the test, but b/c the heartbeat had stopped (The test was done at 11 weeks).

This pregnancy, I will go for the first test in a couple weeks in early Sept, (wk 11 or so). Then, the next test will probably be a CV test which is also recommended for older women. It is elective which means that I could bypass it if I don't want to know whether or not there are chromosomal issues. But some older women choose the test b/c it gives them peace of mind with re. to a healthy baby. The trouble is, the CV test can cause miscarriage in a small percentage of healthy pregnancies. And even though the test can detect chromosomal issues, I am not certain that I want to do it. I just don't know.

Sorry that this is so long. I am trying not to think "too far ahead." My husband says that we will know what to do when the time comes. He's a wise man, so I am leaning on him.
