My son is 2yrs 5 months and I'm trying to potty train him. This is day three. I am using regular underwear and taking him to the potty every 1/2 hour on the 1st day and about every hour now. He still has no interest in telling me he has to go and would just as soon sit in his wet pants as to go to the potty. He is also starting to cry when I take him to the potty. Do you think he is not ready for this, or should I try something else? I should also mention that I give him a couple of m&m's when he goes to the potty, but even this does not help now.

He is probably not ready yet. Boys usually potty train later than boys. I know many moms who are still struggling with boys well past 3 and close to 4. My dr told me girls were earlier and were usually around 2.5 years old. My daughter is 23 months and is starting to show signs of readiness. We are not forcing it, but rather easing into it. We have a potty around for her to get familiar with it, we have her throw out her diapers in order for her to help in the process, we will randomly ask her if she needs to go potty and reward her just for sitting on it even if she has her diaper on, and of course I announce to the house when I need to go potty and she watches me. Hopefully she will get the idea soon. Good luck with your boy!

I had so many problems getting my daughter potty trained. The ONLY thing that worked for us was "The Potty Boot Camp" by Suzanne Riffel. A friend recomended it to us and it worked wonders. I was almost about to give up for good, thinking she was going to be in diapers forever. www.thepottybootcamp.com Goodluck!
