Hi Girls. Just wanted to peek in to see how my ladies were doing. Looks like a lot going on with some great and sad news alike.

Sunshine~ So happy about the u/s! relax and try to enjoy now. I am so happy for you.

Annashope~ ugh, I am so sorry hun. News like that is just heartbreaking. Does your doc have an explaination about why given the genetic testing and it being a blast and all? hugs to you!

Amanda~ Congrats! Cannot wait to hear that beta!

Franny~ I am so glad to see you are not giving up and have a new RE. Who did you end up with? Sadly we are leaving RSC. I like Dr. G's bed side manner however I find him more traditional and conservative. Which in some ways is a good thing but I find he chickens out on my cycles.

AFM, wow...where do we start....I have had a frustrating but productive week. I already updated you on my RE consult with my current doc. My feelings were left flat....like he really had no clue and was just grasping at straws. I did not feel the confidence in him to be able to continue with the clinic. He would not even give me any % on chance. I need more to go on before I can throw more money his way. In today, he has received 30+K of our money....far too much for my liking. So I have called another clinci and I am being selective. I really need someone who is specialized in PCOS and who will be more aggresive on testing DH.

Also we have started looking into financing options. Whether to take hoem equity loan so we can deduct interest at taxes etc....or do ATTAIN IVF multi cycle discount. We also made an appointment with a fertility doc locally. He does not do IVF but everything else. Since we have insurance for our meds, we thought in the meantime we might try some injectible cycles....I mean why not right????????? I feel like with DS I only stimmed with clomid and met...I produced 2 big follies and have a ds...maybe with IVF I produce too many follies and my qaulity is suffering...so maybe going back to basics is key...again, who knows..

We also made appointment to become foster parents with option to adopt but I can say I am so disappointed with the process. Now, DH and I bought a new house last Nov. I do not mean to sound snooty, please forgive me if I do....but its a super nice house...5 bed rooms, 3 baths...beautiful colonial with lake views. BUT I foudn out the stairs are not code for our DHHS standards. The treads are too narrow. Ugh....they would require us to rip out our staircase and build new ones before passing home study! In addition, they require all fire alarms to be hard wired in EVERY room. We have a few hard wired but not all....so more $$ to get electrician to do wiring. After the $ we have spent....We cannot afford to do this and therefore likely will not be approved. This pisses me off so much! I mean, we are two loving people, beautiful home, well educated and have so much to give another child but b/c our stairs are 2 inches shy of code and we have drained our savings trying so much to care for another....NOPE....they would rather these kids live in drug invested homes with God knows what!!!!!!!!!! There is just something wrong with the system! I have no idea if the standards are the same for domestic adoptions through agencys. I feel so defeated.

Now question for any PCOS'ers out there....are you taking any supplements/special diets? I am trying to figure out if there is something else I could be doing. Thanks....phew....thats a lot. Sorry to go on and on.....

Tammy -- The link you posted for the research done on lead follicle size in the microflare protocol is actually my clinic and my RE... Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago. First of all, the study averages the MEAN follicle size of the TWO largest follicles. You only had one at 13 and the rest under 10, right? Were your follicles measures on a 2D or 3D machine? I know Dr. Sherbahn currently uses a 3D machine at his Gurnee office. I don't know about back in 2006 when he did that research though. I can ask him tomorrow if you like. The important thing to remember is 3D machines measure on VOLUME and are about 2 mm SMALLER than a 2D machine. If this is the case, your 13 is really an 11 on his machine and thus your other follies have time to "catch up". If there's anything in particular you want me to ask him about you or what you read on his website, let me know today because I'll have that opportunity tomorrow. There's only two RE's in the practice and they both share the same brilliant mind and philosophy. As your your heart palpitations. That's really not a side effect of either Lupron or Follistim. It could be you are more stressed than usual. Anxiety is probably the biggest cause of heart palpitations. The most worrisome side effect is thromboembolic events (i.e. blood clots), hence the baby aspirin we are all taking. And for your acupuncture question, I think I would choose a few days after ET to help with implantation. It doesn't matter how many follies you grow if one doesn't implant, right?

Franny -- Gosh girl, you have been on my mind lately. I'm sooo glad you wil lbe meeting with your new RE soon and getting your next cycle underway. I hate the AF right after a BFN cycle... so heavy and painful. Ugh! I'm so sorry! I really hope this is the last one of those for you!!! <muah>

Karin -- Wow, you have been very busy preparing for your move. Where in the Silicon Valley are you moving to? I have a lot of friends in the San Jose area and visit there often. How soon are you moving? Good luck with your donor search. I really hope you find the right one that you both will feel comfortable with. These decisions are so hard to make but when we feel we made the right one, it seems everything falls into place. I hope that is the case for you.

kbillsy -- Good luck on ER today! Can't wait to hear your fert report tomorrow. Rest up and hydrate well!Looks like we will be in the 2ww together!

miyaya -- I think a new clinic and RE is what you need. Especially since you didn't get the answers you need from the current one. If he's throwing his hands up... then it's time to move on to someone with fresh ideas. I don't have PCOS but there's a great fertility book out there that covers a ton of tips including diet, called "Fully Fertile". My last cycle, I went to a place called Pulling Down the Moon for fertility acupuncture and yoga. The program director wrote this book. http://www.pullingdownthemoon.com/. I love reading it in the waiting room! It is available on Amazon for about $15. This time I have a friend who is doing my acupuncture for free, so PDTM is not in my budget this time. I miss them though. People who follow their plan have great success rates. I can't complain, I did get pregnant too. They taught me a lot. We went the home equity line of credit to fund our IVF. We had opened it a few years ago when remodeling our kitchen. Then we kept it open to buy a car. And now IVF! Gosh, I didn't know foster/adoption inspection was so rigorous! That's terrible!!! Especially since there are people raising kids in environments that are much worse than the one you guys would provide. WTH???

AFM -- Triggered last night. I'm the first ER tomorrow morning at 8AM. I will be sure to update you as soon as I am up to it. Yesterday, I went to a free concert alone with my dog. A 7 year old girl named Sidney asked to pet my dog and sat with us for a bit. I asked where her parents were and she pointed through the crowd and said "somewhere over there". After 15 minutes I told her to go check in with her parents. She said "ok, I'll be back". 5 minutes later, she was back. She did this off and on for 3 hours and hung out with me for most of the night. She was such a smart and pretty little girl. Her dad came by and brought her and me sno cones. Sidney fed most of hers to my dog. At the end of the night... I said I would stay there until she found her parents and she said... "ok, I see them. Bye!". I took a photo with my phone of her and my dog. I will post it in the next few days. I told DH about my evening with Sidney and he said "couldn't you tell the parents we'd borrow her for the next 15 years and give her back when she's ready for college?". So cute.

Have a great Monday everyone!

sher- great attitude...spotting can be a good thing. i'm glad you're not letting it take away your pma! wednesday's almost here & you'll get your bfp!

lou- that is awesome that your er is tomorrow...you must be so excited! i think your evening w/ little sidney is so cute...i had goosebumps reading about it...what a sweet, little girl! what your dh said was really cute & funny! great pictures of you & dh...you guys make a great-looking couple!

miyaya- it definitely is time to break up w/ your re & look for another one. after the emotional, physical, & financial investment that you & dh have made, you should definitely be selective! i cannot believe the stupid criteria items that would disqualify you from fostering & adopting...something is truly wrong w/ the system! i think "going back to the basics" is something worth trying...like you said, the quality might improve & it'll give you your 2nd miracle.

kbillsy- how did your er go? can't wait to hear how many eggs they got. hope you got to eat something good & yummy after your er :-)

tammy- i'm sure it's just the stress & your cardiologist will clear you. thanks for doing the af dance for me...looks like you'll have to dance a little while longer, lol!

franny- same protocol as the other 2 cycles...follistim & ganirelix, then hcg for trigger, then the oh-so-wonderful pio injections in the hiney!!! still no af though  you poor thing, af after a bfn is a beotch...i remember back from february...it sucked! ugh, i hate phone calls, insurance, paperwork...blah, blah, balh  crossing my fingers that you'll be starting right away & that your new re's office had everything set to go.

cakes- how did er go? how are you feeling?

emma- welcome! i added your name & your beta date on the list. crossing fingers for a bpf for you on wednesday!

amanda1979- i'm dying to hear your beta results!

lauren319- i think you had an u/s & b/w today...how did it go?

afm....where the hell are you, you evil beatch??? ok, so ALL day yesterday, i had cramps, so i'm thinking "great, af should be here tomorrow, which is when it's due." wake up today, NO cramps, nothing! i'm trying not to think about it b/c i know stressing over it can put a delay on it. i'm almost always on time, so wth??? ok, so that's it for me.

hope everyone is having a good day!

Oh my gosh…first of all, I apologize for being the worst friend for the past 2 weeks! It’s been crazy…but I have been reading!

Franny – my heart is breaking for you. I had such a good feeling about this cycle for you. I am sorry I wasn’t here for you the past 2 weeks! Please let me know how you are doing and how you are feeling.

Karin – My friend, I am so sorry. I know this is such a hard process. At each step you feel like you can’t take any more bad news. It’s crazy what we can handle. I know how you feel, it’s like a death of the possibility when you close the door to having biological children. I know how hard it is. You just wonder how much further you can go and how much you can handle. I have my bad days too and sometimes just want to give up…but then I know that that’s it then…am I really ready to make that decision? I always get to “no” and continue down the path. I’m glad I can be here and witness your journey. Keep me updated and I’m always here to listen. Oh my! And a move on top of it! Do you love the house?

Lou – love the pictures! I’ve always wanted to go to santorini…as all of us can relate, this whole thing is just a money suck. I can’t wait to go on vacation again!!!! YEAH! It’s going to be tomorrow! You will be pupo before you know it. What awesome news, looks like you are going to have some wonderful eggs in there! Oh my gosh, that’s so cute that DH said that…I have to admit, my husband and I joke about it too…

Moorebaby – Hoping for a drink-free 9 months!

Amanda1979 – Congratulations!!!

Chili – I hear you my friend…I can’t believe it about that woman in France! I haven’t even heard about that..but that would frost me too! How are you doing?

Sonya – I’m so sorry…have you thought about next steps? Big hugs to you.

Cakes – good luck today! Can’t wait to hear!

Tammy – It’s always good to be proactive and know that you are healthy. Please keep me updated on your heart. I am praying that it is just a little flutter. I’m not sure on the lead follicle, but am interested in what they say about it.

Miyaya – wow what a week you have had. I’ve thought about becoming a foster parent too and I had no idea that you had to go through all of this stuff. Seriously, two loving people that would create a wonderful environment…isn’t that the top priority? I agree and don’t get it at all!

AFM: I’m just not very positive right now. I feel defeated and lost. I’m going through my second IUI and will be triggering tonight with insemination on Tuesday and Wednesday. I have 4 follicles again. So in theory, things look good, but nothing is different than last month. I just think it’s a total crap shoot and it just seems like we are going through the motions and it could be another month of a negative. I mean, how many times can I do this! It’s just crazy! Sorry to vent, but it’s just really hard.

Lots of love,

Had my appt this morning. 2 follicles at a little over 10 mm on the right with 4 more a little under 10 mm and 4 on the left under 10 mm. E2 of 435. What does all of this mean? It's good, right? I go in Thursday. I'm guessing I'm gonna be getting close to triggering then, no? What should I be doing now? Should I find an acupuncturist? Eat pineapple? Drink weird tea? Help a sistah out.

Also, how do I add pics? Do I need to press the img code and then find the path to one??

Amanda - it's not so much the #, but it is how it increases. It should double every 2 says. My # was 21, and I was obsessed with looking stuff up on the Internet. I found several stories about women with very low betas who went on to have health babies. Mine did not turn or that way though. There is a site betabase. Something I think org? It shows betas that you can compare to. Good luck!!!
