Newly Pregnant with questions

Post by annpage »

I had my first IVF & luckily got pregnant. My concerns are of course day by day there's something that alarms me.
My 1st Beta was 281
2nd Beta 577 - the nurse said possible multiples..
3rd Beta 6309 & saw 2 sacs - 1 had yoke the other didn't. They told me it may be too early to tell or the other didn't take. When we were there the RE said I was 5 weeks 2 days

Last night & today I had brown spotting & mild cramps. Should I be having them now? I called my RE & they said it's normal..Normal for what? what's going on? I never feel like they answer my questions more like they don't want to be bothered. It frustrates me. I asked her how far long am I, she tells me 4 -5 weeks..ok..I thought I was 5 weeks last week when the RE told me. When do they start counting? I have another appt. this Thursday for my b/w & u/s they said we'll hopefully hear the heartbeat. Is anyone pregnant with twins & can tell me if they went through this? I can't wait til Thursday...I'm not sure if it's twins or not but with me bleeding I'm thinking maybe I lost one....
Help....

Hi,
It is very frustrating!!! The nurses and the doctors tell you spotting and cramping is “normal” and I agree with you – no, it is not. The way I interpret this is -yes, it is very common and most of the time is does not mean a bad outcome and if it is persistent-then we will investigate. This would make more sense to me...
You have a scan on Thursday and I hope it bring you a good news. Sometimes spotting and cramping does not mean much and goes away on its own(happened 6 weeks into my first pregnancy , lasted a few days and stopped and I went on to have a healthy baby). Second time around though I had spotting and cramping for a week and turned out the baby’s heart beat was not there anymore. The doctors and midwives are very relaxed now days for anything and everything but sometimes they just do not have an answer-especially so early in the pregnancy.Also-5w 2 d is very early to detect for sure if things are developing alright.
The waiting, the uncertainty and the lack of “yes” or “no” answers is the worst part at this point( where I am at, too) and I am trying to not drive myself crazy while waiting for tests and scans.
Good luck on Thursday and keep us posted.

Macsi: Thanks for responding I guess we're all in the same boat we don't have the right or wrong answers. I find that whom ever I ask I'm still left confused...I guess I just have to take oneday at a time as we all do. I hear it's never a moment where you don't worry from the time your pregnant til the time they are born, then we have other worries..lol
Good luck on your journey...I wish you all the best!!
AFM: I'm just waiting for Thursday to hope I have more answers..
