Wondercat - For finger foods, we've tried pieces of banana, Gerber teething biscuits (which he really likes) broken into pieces, and Gerber yogurt melts. He's gotten really good at gumming things now. Still has only one tooth but I think a second is soon to show.

charr - I have a box of the teething biscuits but haven't cracked it open yet. We will have to buy some of the yogurt melts, he loves yogurt but I hadn't even heard of those. Yesterday he had some pieces of Laughing Cow cheese which he really seemed to like. Amazing how hard those gums are, they do pretty well gnawing on those things for having so few teeth - Sean only has 1.5 teeth!

Hi Ladies,

Gerber buiscuits. That sounds like a good idea. I haven't given him any yet.
Haircut: Not yet but he soon needs one! LOL

CHARR: don't worry. The sleep pattern could also be due to teething. My son didn't start sleeping through the night until he had the helmet on, or rather, he was still in therapy when he started to sleep well. Also, make sure he is dressed really light. All I would have him wear at night was a onesie.

WONDERCAT: on Sunday, we made the decision to try for a frozen cycle. It was like a shock. I had asked hubby about his thoughts about it and he had cut he conversation short. I also make payments for embryo preservation every 2-3 months. Initially he would say: what are you saying. Can you just imagine us handling a second one. Mind you, he's gaga over the baby and VERY much hands on. I really mean that. But he would say he can't imagine the work involved for raising 2. So imagine my shock when, parked in the parking lot of Home Depot, he tells me, "ok baby, let's do it". Call the OB and let's do it ASAP! Then he kissed me". I said "my goodness! I wasn't even sure if I had made up my mind or felt read for #2. But after the said that, I realized I really wanted a second one. So today I calledand made an appointment. I am really scared and excited at the same time. Scared because now I know what's involved and we were lucky on our first try and I don't know if history will repeat itself. Excited of the idea of having another one.
Ok, time to put him to bed.

Nancy - Wow! Welcome to the trying for a second one crowd! When do you think you will be cycling? I got all amped about it and already started posting to a September cycle board, but it turned out the first available appointment with my RE is Sept. 22 so it will probably be an October FET. I always fail to underestimate the time lag on these things! And I am also realizing it has been well over 2 years since my last FET and I don't even remember the process that well except that it's much easier than a fresh cycle. I agree, it's exciting and scary all at once.

On another note, I thought it was funny you saying your son prefers to be dressed lightly to sleep. My son sleeps much better if he is nice and warm! They are all so different!

WONDERCAT: Can you tell ma a little bit how the FET cycle goes (meds, injections how you decide how many embryos to defrost etc...). My OB appt is not until Thursday and I's love to get the heads up from someone who's been through it already.

Wondercat & Nancy - We envy you both for having frozen embryos. We didn't have any that made it so would have to go through the whole process. Best wishes to you both!

Nancy - If I remember correctly I started BCP on the first day of AF and took it for 3 weeks, overlapped at the end with lupron injections, then estrace pills and insane amounts of vivelle dots (hormone patches). A few days before ET I started PIO shots. Then similar to any ET, take a valium before leaving home and another when you get there. Incidentally, never took valium before IVF and have since discovered that it hits me pretty hard - I'm such a lightweight. The first time I went in after taking it I was so zoned at the front desk that the receptionist kept asking if I was OK! I was like, "Wait... What? Oh yeah. I'm great!"

I'm not sure how they decide how many embryos to defrost. Last time I only had 2 saved and since they were planning on implanting both they thawed both. This time with 4 frozen that is a question I will have to ask my RE myself. I have been thinking about it like I have 2 FET tries, but realistically there is a good chance that they won't all make it.

charr - Yes, I am happy to be able to have these embryos saved from that cycle. However the flip side is that in general FET cycles have a much lower chance of success than a fresh cycle, and that's not even counting the possibility that they may not even survive thawing.

WONDERCAT: Thank you so much for the update. There will indeed be many difficult decisions to make. Just out of curiosity, how much does your OB charge for the FET, not counting meds?

CHARR: Thank you so much for the well wishes. I am grateful indeed that I have some embies in reserve however with me having developed moderate ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, I don't know if I'll ever have another shot at an IVF fresh cycle, and as wondercat pointed out, the outcome is not as sucessful as a fresh one. In addition, I am turning 41 soon. If things work out, I'll be delighted, if not, I will still give GOD MANY THANKS for the wonderful gift of my precious son. Indeed, many are not as lucky as we are having had even one success. As for you, CHARR, if you ever wanted to try for a second, I will just wish the best of luck to you.

It really has been a wonderful opportunity to exchange thoughts with you both. This is such a demanding journey that keeping in touch with people who go through the same challenges is indeed comforting. I hope that we can get this post going for a long time to come.

WONDERCAT: It is now official, I will do a frozen cycle in September. I am scared, excited, you name it.
I had my bloodwork and ultrasound done yesterday and I am to start my estrogen shots a day after I get my period.

CHARR: how is the helmet going? Are you taking him in every week? How about his torticollis? Is he sleeping better now?

Nancy - That's wonderful! Good luck to you!! I am still waiting for AF, which should have started last Tuesday (no chance of happy accidents with us, alas) so I'm not entirely sure when this fall we will be able to try. I think at this rate I will be able to start the cycle in mid-September but won't have my transfer until October. I know what you mean, I'm getting pretty amped up too. When we first started talking about the fall it seemed like so long ago, suddenly it's in a month! I'm so ridiculous though, of all the things to worry about I'm thinking about what I will need to do to convert our guest bedroom into another nursery!!

Hi ladies,

well, i had a call from my RE and they found abnormal cells but said not to worry.I asked them if I need to cancel my FET cycle, they said no. My regular OB said not to worry either and that he would repeat the test in 6 months. It was a bit nerve wracking in the early morning but I'm feeling much better now.

WONDERCAT: I saw in other post that your monthly visitor hadn't come in yet. Any chances of .................?

CHARR: how's your baby doing with the helmet. Did they say how much longer he has and are you happy with HANGER?

My little one is crawling and had his upper 2 incisors out but no walking yet! He had bloodwork done the other day. They missed the vein the 1st time but got it on the 2nd. He cried, poor peanut, but stopped really fast!
He's 20lbs10ounces and 29.5 inches. Growing really fast! Now wearing 24 month old outfits!

anyhow, that's the scoop on my end. Hope to hear from you 2 soon.

Nancy - Hahaha, no, no chance of anything other than my body being a traitorous little *****. The "CBLVD" in my signature means "Congenital Bilateral Lack of Vas Deferens" - which means that my husband was born with no vas deferens. The ONLY way I can get a BFP is with TESE/ICSI/IVF. Or, I suppose, cheating on my husband... You will all have to take my word for it that I haven't!! I'm glad to hear that your FET is going ahead as planned - when is your estimated ET date? So exciting for you! I am now thinking AF will be coming the first week in September because I'm pretty sure I ovulated last Friday. We'll see. Grr.

Sean was 10 months yesterday. Still just the two bottom teeth. He was 18.5 lbs 29 inches at his 9 month checkup. 12 month one-piece outfits are tight on him, but for pants he needs to wear 6-9 month ones or they fall down. OK, even those fall down. He has a tendency to "unpant" himself cruising around in the crib or playpen. I think he will be walking by the end of this month, presumably without pants on unless I can find some baby suspenders!!

Hello, Wondercat and Nancy! Good to hear from you both. Our little guy is still in his helmet and yes, we are pleased with Hanger. His head is looking so much better! He is pulling himself up to a stand now and loves to do it all the time. He does both regular crawling and an army crawl to get around. He's wearing mostly 9-month outfits but some of them are getting tight. At his 9-month checkup he was 27 1/2" and 16 lbs. 13 oz. Just a little peanut!

Do your boys have any favorite toys yet? Our son loves anything with wheels. He pushes his little cars and trucks around making engine sounds. It's so cute! He also likes books and turning the pages.

charr - Sean likes anything that will spin - anything. He deliberately spins it with one or two fingers and is just fascinated. He has a stuffed seal that he really likes, which is funny because he has never seen an actual seal or even a picture of one. Come to think of it as I am currently about a 30 second walk from a small aquarium with a seal tank out front so I think a field trip is in order... He also favors his own blankies. In my family it's tradition to make them out of old Daddy undershirts - the fabric gets so nice and soft, plus it smells like Daddy! Once at my mother's house she didn't have one of his so she tried to give him one of my nephew's and Sean refused to have anything to do with it - threw it on the ground, whereas with his own he grabs it and buries his face in it.

Speaking of trucks, we had a very cute moment with my 4-year-old nephew showing a very attentive Sean: "No, no, Sean. You need to push it on the ground like this..."

CHARR: I'm glad that you're happy with the results of the helmet! How much longer does he have?
Toys: he loves his animal farm toys as well as baby einstein radio that plays clasical music with lights. Also, loves the baby EINSTEIN videos.

WONDERCAT: You're too funny! Did the AF come yet? Also, love the blanky concept!
Waiting for my own AF to start the shots. I am really petrified this time around; don't know why. But will take it one day at a time!
