Congrats to all who had ER and ET yesterday - those were some great #'s you all posted!!

Tammy - don't get too down - your 4 embies need some PMA right now :) there is still a VERY good chance that it will happen this time!

Cakes - you still having the heartburn and cramping? I wasn't on bed rest - but I have been taking it easy. Don't know what is normal since this is my first transfer - I haven't had heartburn, but I have had some minor cramping - nothing prolonged - just a couple minutes here or there.

Quick question - if your insurance does not cover infertility, does anyone know at what point things would start being covered? Is it with the beta bloodwork, not until after pregnancy is confirmed, or some point later? Just trying to weigh my options of driving 2 hours each way to have my RE office do my beta or having it done locally. If it is covered, I should be able to have it done anywhere... if it is not covered, I know my RE office will charge me $40.

WOW. So much for me to read and catch up on. I'll do that as soon as I finish this post.

We finally had our appointment at the fertility clinic. I really like the doctor. They did an ultrasound on me and he was very pleased with how my ovaries look. The mini follicles (is that right) that they look for on each ovary were good. He said at my age they look for 4-6 on each ovary. One ovary had 5 and my other had 6. He's not at all concerned about the sperm aspiration. He said he thinks that won't be any problem at all. He is more concerned about my age. He mentioned it A LOT. He said that our chances of conceiving via IVF are 30% and our chances of multiples are 40%.

The next step is another test for me and for my dh to go ahead and get the sperm aspiration done. I have a call in to the scheduler for dh and my test can't be done until after my cycle.

The doctor said if all goes well, we'll be able to start the whole process at my September cycle.

It's all so overwhelming and a little hard to swallow knowing that we are totally self-pay. We know the chances are small that we'll be successful on the first cycle. I'm praying that we'll have some to freeze and do an FET because I don't know that we'll be able to afford another fresh IVF.

Me 39 "normal"
Dh 49 problem with tubes so no sperm "gets out" (basically like a vasectomy)

currently in 1st IVF -- BCP until 10/3, currently on Lupron. Suppression check 10/8. Start stims 10/9.

Hi you guys,
Just playing catch up here....I have had a severe case of OHSS. I had to go in Sunday (8/8) for iv fluids and iv hesban....and again Monday. The dr did an u/s, but said it was too early to tell. I'm thinking if you can see the embies when you put them in - couldn't you be able to tell now???? It's a week later - they must be bigger...??? :?: The nurse that took me across the hall to the u/s/OR said I know you don't think so right now, but this is a GOOD SIGN that you're going through this...Then during the u/s she was watching the screen intently (like ME) and after dr left the room she said Things look very good....VERY good. How many eggs did you transfer? I told her three. She said, Well, make sure you send us pictures of your babies so we can put them up on the Baby Wall. :?: :?: :?: Now, what am I supposed to think of all THAT?
hugs,
jenna

Tammy--FOUR little embies! :D :D :D :D A smile for each of them! Be excited and hopeful! Just relax as much as possible and let God do his thing!

Lauren319--6 mature eggs! Good job!

Missmerrilee--Your story about your RE sounds like an Oprah show. At least it didn't happen to you. Hopefully you can get your records.

Chili--Maybe all of the meds is just the thing you need to jump start those ovaries! Pull out all of the stops! Go for it!

Tiger--How are you? You must be keeping busy.

Klinger--I am praying for positive results on your next beta.

Cakes--You should take Tammy's advice and POAS on Saturday or Sunday. Why waste the money. But...if it's getting the best of you...do it! Just remember that it could be too soon.

Sher--I'm thinking of you.

Lou--So...are you secretly hoping for twins? :D :D Those were some pretty blasts! I understand your feelings, but you are in such a good place right now. You got an excellent report from your RE and you have some frosties. This is your time!

Dys--18! Wow! What are you guys drinking that makes you produce some many???? I need to get me some! Can't wait to hear your fertilization report.

Jenna--Sounds to me like you have a very optimistic nurse. Take it as good news. You need all of the PMA you can get. Maybe she's right! PMA!!!

Ester--Those follies are growing....I just know it!!

AFM....I have no idea if I ovulated or not. Nothing on the ovulation stick. I am so tired of POAS!!! I'm out of them...so I'm done with it. DH is out of town anyway. I'm not that hopeful or stressed about it. What the hell...it is what it is. He'll be back tomorrow and then I will be leaving to go to West Virginia to visit my family. I will be gone until the 21st. Not sure how much posting I will be doing there. I am so busy with my family and my brother lives in the sticks and his internet connection is not very good. I don't even have cell reception there. I have to drive 15 minutes for cell reception. Isn't that unbelievable? I also get to take Hannah to visit her mom in prison. Yes...I said prison. How much fun is that going to be? I have to drive 2 hrs to get there...visit for 2 hrs...drive back. Not going to be fun. We've done it before. Her mom is in prison for a parole violation. She was working at a restaurant after getting out and charged $38 on another person's card and kept the money. Dumbass! So...she's in prison until 2012 for $38 unless she gets out on parole. At least I will be busy enough to take a break from ttc. I'm hoping that I come home to lots of BFP's!!!

I hope that you lovely ladies are having a fantastic day!

Ryann-- yes, I agree. The embie pics are definitely a plus of this whole process. As for the menopur, you might not need it. It was added to my cycle after I only produced 6-7 eggs the first couple of times. You are much younger and shouldn't have any issues producing a good # of eggs. Your RE probably wants to see how you respond to the Follistim first.

Chili -- Thanks! These are the best chances I've had yet. Somehow that makes me feel "pressured". Is that weird?

kbillsy -- I have no fertility coverage and my insurance started covering bloodwork and u/s once I had the diagnosis of "pregnant" on my last cycle. I did have those things done at RE's office.

Nancy -- Yay for starting in Sept! My RE told me it was rare to get frozens from someone my age... but I got two this cycle! I hope you do too. The "insurance" is nice to have. Especially when you're all cash pay like we are.

Jenna -- hmmm... those comments sound very promising! Can't wait for the official news! So sorry about the OHSS though! That sounds horrible.

Tammy -- I'm sorry you feel deflated. Hearing "25% chance" doesn't help your PMA I know. I was given a 20-30% chance last cycle and I did get pregnant. So don't get too down. I'm pulling for you. Your beta is quite late... mine is always 14 days post ER. So your wait is really a 2ww!

Lauren1171 -- Beta day is the same as vacation day for you? I hope it's good news and you don't need those tampons. You'll really have a reason to celebrate!

Klinger -- My fingers are crossed for you for Thursdays beta!

Cakes -- Friday is likely too soon to POAS. I'm not sure you'll get reliable results before 14dpo. So keep that in mind! Good luck.

Karin -- Actually, no... I really don't want twins. But I'll take them if I get them. I'm worried about the complications of multiples. I've already had one m/c.

Fitz -- Sounds like you have great chances with an awesome quality blast!

Tiger -- How are you doing? Hanging in there?

AFM -- I'm doing OK. I'm freaking myself out because I thought I would have started to feel the "implantation cramping" that I felt last time on dpo 7,8, & 9, but I haven't. I just feel a bit of "soreness" especially in the ovary area as well as a bloated "full" feeling. This worries me a lot even though it's not scientific. I feel a ton of pressure for this to work. To DH, to RE, to everyone who knows my situation. I don't think I will POAS. A positive result doesn't tell you a number so you have no clue if it's viable and a negative result is such a downer and might not be right either. Besides, I want to think I could be pregnant as long as possible. My beta is 14 days post ER, on 8/17.

Fitzjr11- so happy you got to transfer :)

Lauren 319- Congrats on the 6 Fertilized

Lou- those pictures are beautiful I would be wishing for twins :)

Tammy- 4 embryos transferred is so exciting and promising

Jenna- good luck with your beta

Nancy- Sounds like you have a great new RE and ovaries..lol

Dys- 18 is awesome

Lauren171: Enjoy being PUPO

Franny- I sure do miss you! I hope you are having a blast on vacation

AFM: So AF finally came on Sunday and it has not been fun. Today I have a headache and throwing up along with AF. I feel so horrible:( Our RE mention egg donation at our last meeting, but I am not ready to go down that road yet. I am only 30 and I am not ready to give up on our own child yet. I know my right ovary sucks bc of half of it is gone but I have my left ovary and plenty of women get pregnant from 1 ovary. Anyways, I hope every one is having a good day.

Hi all-- Forgive me for crashing in here...
Saying hello to ask for prayers, sticky vibes, good thoughts and positive energy-- I had my 8 week scan and everything looks good. One additional embie (surprise!) showed up on the scan but not viable, no heartbeat. HOWEVER, the first one is doing very well-- "good growth" and good solid heartbeat.
Anxiety is getting higher this week-- my miscarriage was at 9 weeks, but discovered at 11 weeks, so next week and the following wks are crucial... Need your good thoughts and prayers that this pregnancy will be healthy and sound and that I will make it through.

I have been following each of your stories-- and wishing all of you baby dust and sanity and lots of TLC from partners, spouses, and supporting friends!

Take Care.

sunshine- congratulations! I know its hard not to worry especially after your m/c but I will pray for you that you will have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

amanda- sorry for your AF :( why did your RE suggest DE if your are only 30? I would go with your instinct and try again with your own eggs. But whatever you decide we will be here to cheer you on.

fitz- I would just hang around the pool with my feet soaked and stay in the shade and if anyone asks say you dont feel good thats always my excuse :) as for the cramps its all normal but i know its hard not to worry. and congrats on being PUPO!

lauren- yey on all fert. thats AWESOME!!! are you doing a 3dt or 5dt?

karin- I'm not drinking anything special lol Its my PCOS that makes me produce alot of eggs. In my case thats bad because the less that develop the better quality they are. I had 45 antral follicles at my baseline

Tammy- WOW you transfered 4!!!! congrats on being PUPO. Dont worry about the grading and such on my 1st ivf i had 2 perfect embies and didnt get preggo on my 2nd i had 2 less perfect and had my daughter you just never know.

Ester- how did your u/s go? I'm thinking about you!!!

ok AFM I think i might be developing OHSS my tummy feels bloated and it hurts when i pee or laugh or sit etc... I dont think its severe but i can feel it. I will wait till tomorrow and see if i subsides i just dont know if i am sore or if its something else. Anyway so out of my 18 eggs 12 were mature and 9 fert. which I'm happy with. Less is more for me as far as quality. I have PCOS so usually the less we get the better the eggs are so I'm happy with that and i had almost the same amount with my sucessful cycle which resulted in my DD so I'm hopeful. Transfer is Thursday at 11:00 am

Dys - yay for 9! That's great! They have to extract a single cell on day 3 (thurs) for pgd to test. I won't have a transfer until at least Day 5 and I just found out that it could also be on day 6 or 7. Crazy, right?

Tammy - my son was the result of 3 transferred embies, none which looked great. My RE didn't really seem to think any would work and already started talking about the "next" time within minutes of putting them into me...how that's for feeling deflated! But he is here, which shows it only takes one...and they don't have to look great either. Good luck.
