More ivf after sucessful cycle?

Post by Ellie »

Hi
I hope you dont mind me posting but I was wondering if anyone had gone on to have another shot after sucessful treatment? I had twins after 4 years of treatment,(4 cycles) they are now a year old and I am finding myself wanting another go. I am sorry if this sounds greedy, just reading all your posts recently has made me remember how dreadful the whole infertility issue is and how hard it is emotionally when it doesn't work.
Thank you for listening.

Can;t help you personally but wanted to say welcome and greedy - I THINK NOT. WE all know what you go through to have a baby or babies in your case (Congratulations!) and why should you not want more? Non - IVF ladies do!
Wendy on here has had a couple of attempts or maybe one (she lives in France).
There is someone over on the pg after tmt board (not around at the momemt) - known as Mrs Wales who had one and is now pg with a boy (her first was a girl). Zoe on the board has a boy called Sam - she is on that board and said to me the other day wants to start trying for another and was she being selfish?
Jules has twins on that board - ICSI and two years old - she is saving up for more aren't you Jules - good on her!
Post over there too and see what you get.
Good luck
Love
Tracey

Hi Ellie

As Tracey says, I have 2 year old twins from our first ICSI cycle and we are gearing up for going again. It's a bit complicated by the fact that we can't afford it and are in the process of possibly moving to another part of the country. But my biological clock is ticking (35 next birthday) and so I don't want to leave it too long.

I don't feel guilty for wanting more children and neither should you - after all, people without fertility problems don't feel guilty for having more children. I do worry about coping with the likely failure of a second cycle having only experienced a successful cycle before. And I worry about the impact that my dealing with treatment and/or failure may have on Daniel and Charlotte. Every month we keep our fingers crossed that we won't have to go through the whole ICSI thing again but 16 months on from starting to try to conceive again naturally, we seem to be back in the same boat as before.

Good luck with it all if you do go for it again.

Jules
