IVF Newbie

Hello everyone!
I am starting my first IVF cycle, as of yesterday, and I don't know anyone that has actually been through one.
Ohter than what the Dr. has told us, I am not sure exactly what to expect from the hormomes or anything. I was hoping that some of you would share your stories with me?
I have been through 4 IUI cycles so I am familiar with goal F and Ovidrel and its subtle side effects.
Well yesterday I started a much higher dose of Gonal F then adding menapure then adding ganarelix.

I have a 16 year old from a previous relationship but this will be my husband's first baby.
I am very hopeful and a little nervous about the effect the drugs will have on me.....

Hello! I just finished my first round of IVF (unsuccessful, unfortunately.) I can say that the medications (I was on Follistim, Ganirelix, and Progesterone suppositories) really weren't that bad, or as bad as I thought they would be. Honestly, the worst side effects for me came from the Progesterone, because they were all pre-pregnancy symptoms (headaches, some dizziness,mood swings, tiredness, bloating, and increased discharge.) They were not pleasant, but for the most part, totally dealable. Good Luck and don't worry, you'll be fine!

Thank you so much for your reply. I wondered if I would get any responses and appreciate your words of encouragement.
We completed our transfer on Monday afternoon, 2 eggs, rated an 8 and 9, which we have been told are better than good.
Now I am feeling like poop. I am on Endometrin (progesteron) suppositories three times a day and my body is feeling it.
I have naseau, bloating and a little bit of cramping. Cautiously optomistic that Friday the 27th we will receive a positive.
We had 12 follicles retreived, 8 were prepared for fertilization, 6 were successful and only two were ready on the target date they set for us. The other two are being monitored to see if they can be frozen if need be.
I was amazed that out of all 12, only 2 were ready...
Sorry to hear your first round was unsuccessful. When do you go back for another round? Were you able to freeze any for further IVF?
