Hello All! I hope this finds everyone doing well. Got back from vacation over the weekend and slowly getting back into the rhythm of daily life. We had a great time in Italy and I really enjoyed "dolce far niente" which literally means 'sweet doing nothing', also known as carefree idleness :D

It was so beautiful in Florence and Rome and I was grateful that much of my nausea and headaches went away so I could enjoy walking around these historical cities and taking in all the sights and the food! It was just as hot over there, so I made sure to stay extra hydrated and rewarded myself often with gelato

I am now 13 weeks and 3 days! YIPPEE, made it to the 2nd trimester. We're looking forward to our OB appt on Monday where we hope to hear the babies heartbeats for the 1st time! We're so excited. After that appointment we're going to start calling, emailing, and meeting family and friends to share the wonderful news of our pregnancy. This was such a hard secret to keep! Our immediate families and two of my close girlfriends knew from the start, but now we're ready and comfortable to tell all, plus I need to start asking my girlfriends if I can borrow any maternity clothes as a bit of a bump has shown up this last week.

I hope to catch up on everyone's posts soon but I'm wishing all of you well and happy belly rubs!

Yeah MEV!!!!!! You're back! How was the flight? Any problems? You stayed very hydrated right? :) I treat myself with gelato every time I am there. I thought of you recently because I have 2 trips to Italy in the next 2 weeks. So...what was your favorite part? Food? Sight seeing?
Exciting that we are in the 2nd trimester huh? I heard the hb last week for the first time and cried. I can't wait for you an your DH to have the same experience.
Glad you're back. Have fun reading and catching up. ;)

Hi PA_FA! Thanks for the welcome! I'm so jealous that you get to go to Italy in the next 2 weeks! I loved both Florence and Rome for different reasons. Although I have to say that right now all I can think about is the San Crispino signature Crema flavored gelato, oh what I would do right now to have one! Although I think I need to watch my weight gain, while I didn't gain a single pound for the 2 weeks I was in Italy, I have gained almost 10 lbs to date but we're only 1/3 the way and I know the weight comes on faster in the 2nd and 3rd trimester.

So, I've been wanting to ask your opinion of the whole Steven Slater/Jet Blue thing? Somewhat amusing, right?

Yes, I can't wait until our OB appt on Monday, I'm going to try to record the heartbeat sounds with my BlackBerry so I can hear it all the time!

It is exciting to be in the 2nd trimester! Has you belly popped a bit yet? Have you announced your big news? How?
We decided that we're going to call a few close relatives and friends and then we're going to send an email. We decided to include a picture from our Italy vacation and say that the best part about the photo is that there's more than 2 of us in it :)
Then just conclude that we're pregnant and due Feb 14, 2011 - Valentine's Day. We holding the twins news until we know the sexes!

Mev- Ah Steven Slater is my hero!!!!! LOL I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to jump off a plane. Actually it's probably only been that bad like 5 times in 13 years. LOL I fly international so there is a huge difference. If I was flying domestic it would probably jump to daily. :) Internationally people tend to be really nice, calm and not American. We as a culture can be so rude and demanding. While others in the world are polite and such wonderful passengers that I still love my job. Every once in a while I my reality check by flying a domestic trip. Last time I did that I was yelled at a guy in first class for not filling up his wine glass fast enough. (The glasses were the size of a shot glass) I offered to bring him a bigger glass but he just wanted me to stand by him for 4 hrs to keep his glass constantly refilled. UM...let me think about that....NO! LOL

So happy to be in the 2nd trimester now. We had already told most people that are our close friends. A lot of crew knew from flying with me and finding out that I was pregnant in case anything went wrong....I had been telling crew from the beginning. After our 12w scan we posted on facebook along with the scan pics. It's been really fun seeing what everyone thinks about our parenting skills. All good thoughts so far. We'll see how it actually goes. LOL I've been telling people V Day instead of the 15th. It's just easier to say and what baby really comes on the due date anyhow?

I'm off to dinner in London. Have a great weekend!

Jenice - Zofran and Phenagran help a little to keep some of the food down...without them, I wouldn't keep anything down. Even if I only throwup a couple of times a day, its not the worse part...the worse part is feeling like your about to throw up all the rest of the hours in the day. I wish they could put me an a self-induced coma until delivery because I can't imagine another 6 & 1/2 months of this.

Pafa - my sister is a flight attendant with jetblue...she doesn't know slater....but says that "pulling the slide" is a very common statement that she and her coworkers have been saying for years...you dream about it, but never actually do it. She often tells me how poorly people behave on domestic flights and some routes are worse than others.

Lisa - I really feel for you, I hate to have nausea. I would talk with your DR if there are other meds for the nausea. You shouldn't have to suffer like that. I am 11 weeks now, I think the nausea is starting to subside for me. Some days are better than others though. I hope you feel better soon :)

mev - I am glad your trip went well. It sounds wonderful!

PA - I have always wanted to go down an emergency slide too. My husband actually got to do it once on a fight, after I got over being freaked out I was jealous. He said it really wasn't that exciting. I think being a flight attendant is a really hard job, I think people can be so rude and demanding.

lisadcb - I feel so sorry for you <hugs>! Do you think any of the nausea could be caused by heartburn or acid reflux? It might be worth it to try a few tums after eating and see if it helps.

jenice - sorry to hear your pregnancy is high risk, but I am glad that you are turning the corner with the nausea and bleeding.

I have also been MIA for a little while. We are getting new floors installed in the downstairs of our house, whoever thought carpet in the dining room was a good idea didn't have kids. They come Monday, so we have been working on getting all the stuff moved out of there. Luckily it is mostly toys and light stuff, but there is a lot of it. I have been so tired at the end of the day I am dropping into bed at night. I have been falling asleep like a brick, but I keep waking up in the middle of the night and can't get back into a good sleep. My 16 week appointment is Tuesday!

Hi everyone! It has been an exciting week here. Our new floors were finished today... woo-hoo! I went in for my 16 week checkup, which was very normal. They listened to both babies on the doppler and we went over the schedule for the next few months. 20 weeks is the big ultrasound for me, so not too far away. I have started to feel one baby move, but not the other one yet. I also bought a moby wrap to try. I wanted something that I could hold both babies in as newborns (some of the other carriers they have to be 7lbs to fit in). So far I like it, I am wearing it around for a few hours with two of my daughters baby dolls in it to see if I think it will work.

How is everyone doing?

Hello Everyone - Let me try to do some personals....

Purplefish - Congrats on finished floors! That must be nice to cross off the to-do list :) I too had an appt this week and heard the heartbeats for the first time! Baby A 152bpm and Baby B 142bpm! Bet you can't wait for your U/S! I can't wait until I start to feel movement. My DH and I were just talking about how quickly things are moving. I now have a little belly, we heard the heartbeats, we'll soon be seeing them at our Level II U/S in 3 weeks and soon I'll feel the "quickening" YAY!
I heard the Moby wrap is amazing, glad you like it so far, sounds like something I'm going to be putting on the registry!

Natasha - Welcome! I get occasional cramps as well sometimes in the lower belly - probably just growing uterus pains and sometimes cramps on the sides near my hips - probably just stretching and adjusting of the round ligaments which typically happens when I got from sitting to standing. All normal according to my OB. I recently got off progestorone and have been headaches so may be related. I hope you feel better soon.

Jenice - How are things with you?

Lisadb - I hope you're feeling better. How is the nausea, I hope not too bad.

PA_FA - I can't believe that there's still quite the buzz on Steven Slater. But I do wish I could down the slide in a non-emergency situation, of course! I read your post on Winter Friends and it's crazy how identical our experiences are. I too was recently taken off progesterone suppositories. I was so nervous to stop abruptly so I weaned myself off at my own pace. I went from twice a day to once a day x3 to every other day x2 then stopped. I wanted to check my blood level but my OB said it was unnecessary because I would not have gotten this far in this pregnancy and my uterus has taken over by now. So, I am glad to finally be off of those mess sticks! Unfortunately, I still have the discharge but that should be done too. I'm just glad I can stop the panty liners soon too! LOL I've also been getting headaches, as I mentioned to Natasha, it may be related to coming off of progesterone? The other day my headache was so bad, I actually felt better after I threw up, ugh. Sorry to hear about your woes with your maternity uniform and I love how supportive your husband is being!

AFM, went in for Week 14 visit on Monday and heard the heartbeats for the first time! 152bpm and 142bpm, I recorded the sounds on my Blackberry so I can listen to them whenever I want! Going in on 9/9 for our Level II U/S, we'll be at 17 1/2 weeks by then. We can't wait, I haven't 'seen' them since Week 9! Maybe we might even be able to determine the sexes then? So, finally told all the family and friends on Monday - it was so amazing all the well wishes and support we've received especially as many were familiar with our desire to become parents all these years. It's been so much fun letting everyone know. It is still a secret at work, I plan to share the news at a team meeting in Boston on 9/10. It's been tough keeping it a secret at work though because of this little bump I've developed in the last week and I swear I grow overnight!
Starting to feel better - off progesterone, nausea decreased, getting my energy back, feeling very blessed every single day.

Okay, I wanted to share something else, but can't remember.....ah, pregnesia setting in again (which was apparent when I lost by Blackberry earlier today, luckily it was found at the restaurant where I had dinner. I NEVER lose things - until now)!

Good Night All! Take care!

Hello fellow February Mommies :)
How is everyone feeling? I'm doing pretty good. I have had some issues with my blood pressure this week. It skyrockets and goes back to normal over and over again. All the doctors I've seen dont seem to think it is related to the twins (at least not preclamsia (sp) or anything like that) so I've been on modified bed rest until they can figure it out. Feeling better today and my pressure has been almost perfect all day :) With all the Doctor visits this week we were able to see that one of our twins is a little girl :) She was so cute all snuggled up sucking her thumb! At that moment she instantly became Daddy's Little Girl, he was in awe of her. He thinks she is so smart cause she can suck her thumb, he was too cute :) Baby A doesnt want to let us know if they are a boy or girl yet so we shall wait and see. Baby A is pretty funny every time we have seen him/her on the u/s they are doing a handstand shaking their butt for the "camera". I hope the baby turns around for my next u/s in 3 weeks I really want to know. Any other twin mommies know the sex of one and not the other? How many mommies dont want to find out at all and want to be surprised?

We have finally found a new place and are moving next week. Not that I am going to be much help but at least I can direct people where to go right?

Hope you all enjoyed the weekend! And that everyone is feeling good :) Take care.

Kitty- DH is too cute. My Dh is in awe of our little one too because it looked like he/she was jumping on a trampoline when we had the last u/s at 12w. We plan on finding out too but my next perinatal visit is at 20w. :( Our next OB is tomorrow but their equipment really sucks! If they could see anything it would be really cool! Too cute about the butt shaking. I had to read it to DH and we both got a good chuckle out of it. It must look absolutely hysterical. Take care and get some rest. Good luck with the move!

Kitty - yay! a girl! I am so excited. I can't wait to find out what the other one is. I am sorry you had to have some bedrest for a while. Hopefully it is just your body adjusting to having two little ones growing in there. I think your husband is too cute. Moving sounds stressful! Make sure everyone else does the work for you! I didn't find out the gender at all the first time around. It was a fun surprise. I really don't want to find out again this time, but my husband said he is going to find out or murder me=)

mev - the heartbeats sound great! I am glad that telling everyone was a big success. I hope that work will just as supportive too.

PA - I too am waiting for 20 weeks to see them again. I last saw them at 12weeks too! My OB doesn't do an ultrasound at 16 weeks unless there is a problem, but I was happy to hear the heartbeats at least.

AFM - yuck yuck yuck. The kids and I came down with a cold over the weekend. It has been no fun! Luckily my husband works from home so he has been able to let me sneak a nap in today. We leave on Thursday for a trip back to PA for two weeks, it should be fun!

Purple- You are coming back to PA? What part are you going to be visiting?

OK purple was right...I didn't get to see squat. :( I got to hear the hb which is great but I really wanted to see the baby. :( I have another OB in 3 weeks. THen a perinatal Sep 29. I know I will see them at the perinatal, it's a level II for that visit.
I bought the book baby bargains. I am soooooooo confused. Has anyone looked at nursery furniture yet? There are so many choices. So many downfalls to so many brands. UGH...... I'd love to hear everyone's opinion on what you are thinking about buying. :?
