Progesterone aftermath

Post by Hopefulat37 »

Hi Everyone,
I had my first IVF transfer 7 days ago. We will find out if we are preg. this Friday and am cautiously optomistic. We have had one miscarriange and 4 IUI's cycles following with no luck.
This is the first time I have been on progesterone (endometrin) suppositories, 3 times a day starting of the day of the retreival. Since then I have been experiencing major bloating, and cramping every day along with tender breasts and eating like a mad woman.
Have any of you been on endometrin and experienced the same side effects?

I am currently 8 wks pregnant with twins but the first 4 wks after the transfer were a living hell due to the progesteron.
I came down with a horrible lower back pain, bloading and some mile bleeding here and there.
I strongly believe it was caused by the endometrim suppositories. When I asked my Dr. she told me
that it was possible that the bleeding was being caused by the progesterone, but that I needed to keep taking it.
The first two times it happened, I was extremely scared, but when I went in for ultrasounds, they told me my babys were fine and that the spotting wasn't affecting them. Since the transfer, I have spotted 3 times. It is very scarry and I can't wait to get off it.

Thanks Mom2be for the reply,
I had more spotting last Sunday and it lasted 5 days including a little bit today.
The Dr. conducted an Ultrasound on Monday since the spotting started and they did not see any source of a bleed and said it was common with an IVF twin pregnancy. Well, that surely doesnt rest my mind any but I am taking it easy and trying to stay positive. The babies are growing at the same rate so far and their heartrates were strong at 170 and 168.
When is your due date?
I am due on May 4th but have been told I will probably have them in April.

Hi Hopefululat, I"m sorry for the late replay but I haven't been on for a while. I really hope that everything is ok with you an the babies. It is nice to talk to someone else having twins. My due date is April 28th.. Jus a few days before you.
I haven't been able to enjoy much my pregnancy since I pretty much have turned into a mess. Everything scares me eventhough I stop bleeding and yesterday was my last day of the endometrim. I am experiencing feelings and fears that I never experienced before. I am getting depressed and feel very lonely at times. Sometimes, I feel like if I am a different person. Since I started trying, I dreamed with being pregnant and the joy of it, and now most of the times, I just feel numb.I pray this deosn't happens to you because it is really terrible to deal with.

Please let me know any updates with you.

God bless you and your twins.

Hi all I am new to this community and am so thankful i came across it :D I am 30 years old and have undergone 2 IUI's and 3 FET's (I am on my third one now) I have yet to get a positive pregnancy but an very hopeful this time around. I had my FET dont 10/12/2010 and should find out if i am pregnante 10/25/2010. I was hoping someone could give me some insight on what they are going through and feeling.
I really hope this comes through this time I have been TTC since 2007, I have recently had surgery to remove cyst's and clean me up if you will prior to my FET.
I have had two embryos transfered and feel great just anxious, I feel fatigue has very lil minor cramping and have had an upset stomach
does any one else feel this way? Also sometimes i feel a lil flutter in my tummy but think it may just be gas TMI-sorry

I guess I am just nervous and want to kow when you actually start feeling pregnancy symptoms etc.....
I am currently taking Estradol in the am and PM also progerstone oil & cream

Welcome Wishful, I wish you the best of lucks that you will get possitive results. I experienced a lot of cramping, horrible back pain and mild bleeding the first 3 weeks after a possitive prenancy test. I pretty much spent my 1st trimester terrified and unable to enjoy my pregnancy. Tomorrow, I will be 13 weeks and I am barely starting to feel more calm and confortable.
But I know every pregnancy is different, so I can only speak for myself. I wish you all the best and hope to hear the good news soon.

CONGRATULATIONS Hopeful, I am so happy for you and I know exactly how you feel.
Pray that you will have an easy pregnancy and if you ever had any questions, don't doubt to contact me.
I will be very happy to help you and share experiences with you.
In case you got twins, check out this website: http://forum.raising-twins.com/
It is very helpful. You learn a lot from other parents expecting or raising twins.

Take care of yourself and drink plenty of water :-)
