Need to donate left over meds..

I have EXPIRED gonal f and menopur. My local clinic can not take it because it is expired, but I was told, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, that its often fine for a long time if stored well (as its been). I know I am not supposed to give it away as I am not a doctor, but I am fine sending it to someone if they pay for shipping (probably very little) ...though they both expired 11/09. I really hate to throw it out. I have 600 x 3 of gonal and 2 - 75 amps of menopur. Personally I would go with fresh if I had insurance coverage, but if I did not, I would go with these meds.

I will also point out that its illegal to sell meds and not allowed on this board, but I believe donating them is fine on this board. Let me know if I am wrong.

If I get no response, I will bump a couple times, then dispose of the meds...

I think that it is wonderful that you and others are donating your leftover meds. I donated some leftover meds to local friends from my mommys board and also to friends of friends whom I didnt know personally at the time, but do now....a few times that resulted in babies...and you can not imagine the joy I get when I seen those beautiful faces and happy parents on my FB or mommys board.

Expired meds are fine as long as it isnt alot longer past a year past. I also had some expired meds and was told by my doctor that it was fine...and we have some babies to prove it. Expiration dates are put on there way before they actually expire.

Also the best way to ship it is FED EX on ice and overnight COD.

Just seconding the idea that expired meds are fine. I used 8-mos-expired follistim for my last cycle, with my nurse's blessing and encouragement that it was fine. I made tons of eggs, and had the only successful cycle I've ever had. As long as the meds were stored properly, they're ok.

My pharmacy used to accept donated meds for women that didn't have insurance coverage. I never had expired medication though.. maybe close to expiring but not expiring. IF is a terrible thing to go to but I am so glad that we have such wonderful support by each other....

Theoretically it is illegal to give medication prescribed in your name to someone else. But we are not the med patrol so thank you for helping others!
