some bad news today...my DH got the results of his MRI yesterday, and his crohns specialist called today and said he has an intestinal fistula which means his small intestine is so inflamed from the disease that it grew a connection from one part of the intestine to another part which is pushing food through it causing major pain and fevers. they said he would most likely need major surgery to fix it! i feel sooo bad for him, and i'm really scared. great timing right at the start of our final cycle!

ryann so glad you got the green-light!! the needles dont even phase me anymore! good luck!!

teresa good luck with your baseline!! yay!! its about time right?? i think a few drinks tomorrow night will be just fine!! enjoy yourself before the stress sets in. :D

I am so sorry to hear about your DH. Do you know when the surgery will be? I will be keeping you two in my prayers.

Lauren1171...I hope your vacation cruise is going great! Cant wait to hear all about it! :D

Just for fun...I was thinking about this the other day.

Where is the craziest place you have ever done your shots?
1. Hospital patient bathroom...while visiting my aunt.
2. Port-a-potty...with a line...at the hot air balloon festival.
3. Dollar Tree unisex bathroom.
4. Steak n Shake bathroom...girls bathroom with a full restaurant. lol

Lauren - I am so sorry, but glad you are starting up again. I don't know what I would do in your situation. My INS forces me to do FET next. I personally would do a fresh cycle just to bank some eggs in case I had to pay for a FET (it's cheaper). But your case is different since you know your frozen eggs are good quality and you already did the pgd. Maybe the FET would be less stressful and work. Plus you can start right away.

Tammy - I am glad you are starting already too! My cruise was fun, but we took my 9 yr old stepdaughter, so it was different. Not as many late nights, but my bill was a lot less. I go to RE Monday to see when I can stop bcp.

Oh I have done shots in the car twice, and once i did my trigger in the movie theatre bathroom stall.

Tammy- Wow I didnt realize you were starting another cycle already. I am glad to have another cycle buddy to get hormonal and crazy with! I usually stim for roughly 10 days so my ER will be around 9/6 but as you know nothing is for sure until you get "the call". Dont worry I will definately keep everyone posted. :)

Ryann- I'm glad your first shots went off without a hitch! I usually start to get uncomfortable around the 4th or 5th day of shots. You might feel twinges before that of course but that full feeling seems to start around then and gets worse from there. The last few ultrasounds they did last cycle were pretty uncomfortable because they are pressing on my ovaries and they are so FULL!

Lauren1171- Glad your cruise was fun. Did you do any on shore recreations? Keep us posted on what your RE says and what your plans are for your next cycle.

Lauren319- That is a really tough decision. Since we use our insurance (this is our last covered cycle :( ) I would probably do a fresh cycle to try and bank eggs that you know will be ok. If you arent using insurance I would go with FET since its less expensive and less stressful on your body.

AFM- I had my SnS this morning and the Lupron hasnt caused any cysts so that is good. My RE said we are pretty much a go as long as the bloodwork comes back ok this afternoon. I should be starting 75iu of Menopur, 100iu of Follistim, and dropping to 5iu of Lupron tomorrow!

Teresa - We did a snorkel catamaran tour one day, a snorkel beach another day, and one day it rained so we went to an indoor environmental museaum. We had good weather every other day. I am with you that this is my final insurance cycle. If it does not work, I am going to have to try to get a new INS that covers more cycles. It sucks! I have no idea how the self pay ppl do it. We could never afford it and could never get a loan. How many cycles have you done?

Lauren- Wow it sounds like you guys had a great time. I bet the water was just beautiful, did you get to see lots of sea life? I dont know how the self payers do it either. :? We are in the same boat that we could never self pay we just dont have the finances. We've done 2 IUI's and this will be our second fresh IVF cycle. I'm hoping we not only get prego but have a few embryos left to freeze. Last cycle we got 21 eggs, 15 fertilized, we transfered 2 3d embies. We ended up with a chemical pregnancy and none of our embies made it to freeze. I am terrified that we will get the same results and will remain childless until we can find the money to self pay. That may be many many years down the road. So basically, I'm trying to remain positive but I'm staying very guarded. Ok sorry to go on and on but I had to get it out.

Lauren319--I am so sorry this one didn't work for you. You have such a huge, unselfish heart thinking of your sister in all of this. If insurance is paying, maybe you should do a fresh cycle to put away some eggs. The younger the eggs, the better. I'm sure that you will make the right decision.

Franny--Sorry to hear about DH. I hope everything's okay. Praying for a speedy recovery.

Ryann--Yay for stims! It's funny that you said you busted out laughing. That happened with me and DH too when I did my first cycle. I couldn't help but laugh. It would take 45 minute to do a shot. He would start and I would stop him...WAIT...give me a minute. I have such a needle phobia. I couldn't help but think...damn...I can't believe I'm doing this. Laughter is the best medicine!

Sunshine and stars---Such great news!! :D :D :D I'm so happy for you!

Tammy--It's good to hear that you're jumping back in! Have fun on your mini vacation!

AFM...I talked to my RE about the Paxil and he said that it wasn't a big deal unless she's severely depressed and if so they would have given her something stronger. He said that 15% of 20 somethings are on it and if they aren't, most could benefit from it anyway. She has an appointment with him this Tuesday. I'm anxious to see what he thinks of her.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies!!

Great news!! All 4 embies made it to day 5, although one didn't look so good. So, we transferred 2 beautiful blasts and are now in the 2 ww. We're waiting to decide about freezing the other two blasts depending on how they look on Day 7. Much better than expected! Fingers crossed:> So, when is the earliest I can do a HPT??

Lauren319--I'm so sorry. It will happen for you. My hubby has 1% normal morphology and we got pregnant w/ my son!! Remember, that IVF has around 50% success rate; I always tell people that you should have yourself prepared for 2 IVF cycles minimum. Drink up, have a good time, allow yourself to mourn. I find that it takes about 6 weeks after a BFN cycle to feel "normal" again. Re: your quandry w/ whether to do fresh or frozen, I would do fresh for several reasons. Fresh has higher success rates, plus the ones that were frozen from the prior cycle weren't the rock stars. I also had one RE tell me that she wouldn't freeze embryos unless there were at least 4 b/c some of the frosties don't survive the thaw (about 50% depending on how they froze the embies). Plus, this way you can save up a couple more frosties and do and FET down the line if the IVF doesn't work and you are running out of $$. FETs are sign. cheaper ($5k vs. $15k at my clinic). In my experience, we did a FET w/ my 29 yr old embryos and 1 didn't survive the thaw and the other didn't implant. I don't think we will ever do a FET again. Good luck w/ your decision.

rypell--yah the stims...let the BLOATING begin!! (I don't know about you all, but I look about 4-5 mo preggers when I stim)

franny--good luck!!

Tammy--Such a hard decision. I always wanted at least 2 kids and could never imagine less, but 1 is also desirable. Check out the Time Magazine article from July re: only children. If you decide not to proceed w/ this next cycle, it may bring you some peace about the benefits of a only child.

hopeforbabies---re: drinking. I may be more of a risk taker than other people, but I think modest alcohol is fine while doing IVF. I drank 1 or 2 glasses of wine a week during my cycle w/ my son and about 1 small glass a month during my pregnancy (out of a shot glass). I may get flamed for that, but I think moderation is key.

turtle: how far are you in your cycle? they say that fevers and illness can affect the quality of the sperm...that doesn't seem to be an issue for you all, but it def affected my hubby's sperm. If you are doing ICSI it may not matter. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we did a lot of research to try to figure out the cause of my hubby's morphology issues and this was something that one of our urologists told my hubby. I'm sorry to hear your hubby has Crohns:<

DC...That is WONDERFUL NEWS!!!! Congrats! It's funny..but I can't wait to feel SOMETHING going on in my ovaries! I keep thinking I feel something on my right side, but I think I am just being super nervous because of the "spot" on there.

Karin...I'm glad your RE seems conmfortable with the Paxil. Let us know how the appt goes!

Teresa...YAY!!! Great news! You start the Follistim tonight or tomorrow?

Tammy...I love the random places you have done your shots. I will be doing mine tonight at the Chicago White Sox game! I haven't done the shots myself, so I'm thinking of making DH do it at the ball field, I just don't quite know where! I am so glad that you are jumping back in! You and I will only be days apart...I'm think my ER will be around Sept 7 or 8.

Lauren319...That it a tough decision. I know that I have never done either a fresh or a frozen yet, but DH and I have talked about this and I have a fear of losing my ovaries to these damn dermoids I keep getting. Every time I get them removed I lose a little more ovarian tissue. So we have already decided that even if we get some frozen, we will do another fresh cycle and freeze some from that one as well. That way if I ever end up losing my ovaries I know I have some frosties to fall back on.

Sunshine...congrats!!!!!!

AFM...Am I crazy for thinking I am feeling something going on with my right ovary? Or is it possible I feel the effects of ONE shot? I may be a little crazy because I know about that "spot", but just wondering. I have NO clue what to expect with all of this. My dad got DH and me tickets to the White Sox game tonight, so I will be stimming there! I am a HUGE baby and had DH do my Follistim last night. I know I could go into the women's restroom and do my shot tonight, but I really don't want to do it myself...decisions, decisions... Question for you all...will my Follistim be alright if I jsut bring it in my purse to the game, or do I need to keep it cooler than that?

Ryann -- Follistim is stable at room temp for a few months. You just don't want it to get HOT. To be safe, I would take it in a small insulated lunch bag with a cold pack. Just bring a large purse or a tote and toss it right in.

Speaking of crazy places to take your shots... I did follistim and menopur at the Bon Jovi concert on July 30th!

I went in yesterday for my ET. I had 2 transferred with two more that we are waiting to see if they can be frozen. My RE has a strict bed rest policy for 3 days so I am following his advise just because I don't want to question later on if I did everything possible. I am absolutely bored, but hopeful that all will turn out in the end. I return to my RE on Monday for blood work. Any idea what they will be looking for in my blood so early? I didn't have a chance to ask. I guess now the waiting begins...again.

Rebecca- congrats on being PUPO. I hope you are able to get some frosties out of it also.

DC- Glad you are PUPO as well. I'm doing an FET next and you reply to Lauren really made t hem seem like a bad idea. My frosties were the same grade as the two that were transferred fresh. I've found a ton of success stories from FET and my bosses DIL just had twins from FET after 3 failed fresh cycles. It seems to me that good quality embies frozen with vitrification have pretty close to a 50% success rate. No?

Ryann- How was the game? Have you had a sns yet? Grow follies!
