Adoption Approved

Post by Lucy36 »

I don't know if anyone remembers me I used to be Lucy33. I am now Lucy36 so I have been on and off this site for 3 years now.

But just to say I have now been approved to adopt and we are just waiting for the right little person to turn up and want us as their family. It will probably be along wait but we are prepared for that.

We hope to adopt a 2-3 year old, we decided against a baby.

So as you can see I have moved on past IVF now thank goodness and life seems OK at long last.

It took us 1 year to get through the process

Best wishes to all

Dear Lucy

I do remember your name from previous posts. Just wanted to say congratulations. It must be a huge relief to be approved and terribly exiting.
Please let us know how you get on. I am sure many of us will look forward to hearing about your new son or daughter.
Well done to both of you.

Hi Lisa and Dee

Thanks - it's been along time.
I wanted to post a message really just to say that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

If I remember correctly Dee you have a little boy are you thinking about trying for another?

Looney where are you up to with it all, any thoughts on fertility treatment or adoption. I know the loss of your little one must be still very hard for you both. Are you still working at the school?

You probably remember Alice who is also approved for adoption we keep in good contact so when our kids arrive they will have adopted friends. We also keep in touch with Tee and Michelle who used to be frequent members of this site.

Blimey, there are a lot of names on here that I vaguely remember from when I very first found this site nearly two years ago. If I've got the right Lucy you had your final cycle (6th?) in spring time last year (apologies if I've got that wrong)? I'm so pleased to read your news - as you say, it does give light at the end of the tunnel that there is more than one happy ending to the stress that we all put ourselves through.

Lucy

Well my update ....... I am 24 weeks pregnant and we managed to do it naturally again. I think DH going away for four months made super sperms lol. I have kept pretty quiet about it as I didn't want to jinx things this time and because I didn't think it was very sensitive to my buddies on here.

I'm still working at the Special Needs School and still loving every minute, I am trying to keep going until July when they break up for Summer. Not sure whether I am going back will wait to see what motherhood throws at me lol.

I haven't heard from Tee for a while, how's things with her? I still keep in touch with JD from way back her little one is 17 months now. We still haven't met face to face though.

I hope you get a little person soon. Keep us updated.

Love

Hello again!

Lucy

Thanks for your message. Can you believe that Max is now 17 mths old? It just seems like a few mths ago that we were all in the chat room and I was doing the 2ww. He is great - very entertaining. And very naughty.

In answer to your question, I would love for Max to have a little brother/sister. Somehow a few mths ago I got pg naturally. Tried for 4.5 yrs before IVF with no success and then it just happened - wierd. Unfortunately it ended in a m/c, but I am hoping (once things get sorted out 'downstairs') it might happen again. Obviously I am very disappointed that things didn't work out, but having Max has made it pretty incomparable to the days before I was pg. I would have found it very hard to cope then. Now I am coping, although get upset wen I think about it too much.

Anyway, please keep us posted on your progress. You will have some fun when you get your little one! Those toddlers are very hard work! Every day is an adventure - for them and for us! It is wonderful.

Take care, and good to hear from you again.

Love
Dee xxx.

Lucy - I can't believe I've just found this message from you! Congratulations.

I remember you very well; I think I used to be called just SarahR on this site; and I remember you as a cycle buddy in 2001ish. I think we even were at the same clinic?

This is the first time I've been on the site for nearly a year; and a real treat to hear about your approval.

Amie + Ben are now nearly two years old, and I often think of the great help I had here when we were struggling to cope with the infertility and loss.

All the best to you - I know it's nearly six months since you posted this, so sorry I'm so out of date!

with love,

Sarah

Hi Lucy

Think you were in the cycle after me last year - I cycled first in Feb/Mar and then in Oct/Nov. As you can see from my post, we have just passed panel as well. presume you are adopting from the uk? where in the country do you live, as I have lots of friends adopting domestically in W. Sussex and belong to a new group that one of them has started up. I also have one friend here in our village in Kent who was matched in May of this year. She's very cute. How are you getting on?

Hi girls, congratulations lucy 36 on adoption acceptance and yes I do remember you as Lucy 33. The time just flys, I used to snoop on the site and read up on all threads, oh for a good few years. It is only recently I started posting. It will be an exciting time for you, a friend of my mother-in-laws adopted two sisters who were 2 and 4, lovely girls and really so happy and content now. Hi loonpants, yes I too remember you, not just because of your name but also because you were out in Cyprus for a while. We go to Cyprus a lot on the northern side. You have been through a lot and I am so pleased that you are pregnant now. It is hope for all of us. Love Jjj

Update

Post by Lucy36 »

Hi

It's been great to have messages from some old cycle buddies. I can't belive it has been so long.

We have been approved for adoption for 5 months now and there are dozen people ahead of us on the adoption register (what ever that means) which seems like alot but our social worker assures us that this is not bad for only having been waiting for 5 months.

I have been reading lots of books on adoption working in a nursery school and a friend has just been matched with a baby girl which is very exciting.

I am very relaxed with it all and just looking forward to the day our little person walks through our front door.

As soon as I have any news I will let you know.

All the very best to you all

Hi Lucy,

Another old cycle buddy here. Glad you are sounding so well.

I too have just embarked on the adoption route after 6 ivfs. We have been on prep training and are waiting to start home study.

Would love to keep in more regular touch as i don't come on here much any more.

If you like you can e mail me mandy.worsley@lineone.net
