subchorionic hematoma

Post by krissymichaels »

So I am 5w6d along and everything has gone so smoothly until I started bleeding this afternoon. I went to the ER and my beta was 15204 and gs measuring 5w5d with no fetal pole. Doc said I had a subchorionic hematoma...did not confirm a miscarriage but put me on bedrest for 24 hours. I am so scared and don't know what to do but rest and pray. Anyone have this happen?

Hi Krissy -
I had the same thing happen to me, although I was just a couple weeks further along than you are at this point. I too went on bedrest, & you really do need to rest & not lift a thing! I eventually 'passed' the hemmorhage, which was confirmed via u/s. The baby looked fine at that point, unfortunately though a few days later I had a m/c. I don't want to freak you out, my Dr couldn't confirm that one event lead to the other. It is completely possible to pass the bleed & go on to have a healthy pregnancy. You need to take bed rest very seriously & think positive thoughts. We're all praying for you!

Hi, I had the same thing happen at 8 weeks and passed a large clot (I thought it was the baby and was devastated). THe dr told me that I had a 50-50 chance of miscarriage and after that one show of blood, I was fine and delivered a healthy baby boy. After experiencing secondary infertility, we have just had IVF (I'm 39) and will find out on Wed this week if it worked. Fingers crossed for you!

I was diagnosed with it at 9 weeks after some bleeding. however was not put on bedrest i was told there was no real evidence of it helping the situation. The prognosis i believe depends on the size and location of the bleed and if its small its not much of a concern at all. i was told its also more common in IVFers. heres the good news im now 30 weeks! try not to give up hope have you talked to your OB?

I also had a sub- chrionic hemmorhage @ 7 weeks. I had large amount of bleeding and passed large clots. I'm still pregnant, (knock wood  ) I continued to spot brown blood for 3 weeks after the major bleed. I also had a small blood clot on the placenta. I am almost 13 weeks now. Baby seems good and blood clot seems to be going away. It is very scary and I was told very common in IVF pregnancies also. I continue to have clear drainage after the bleeding stopped. I've been wearing pads for months now. Just take it easy, no lifting @ all. I was also told no sex and rest frequently. Good luck :D

hello - i also had this happen to me at week 7. i bled red (no clots) for 12 hours, and ended up in the E/R where they diagnosed me w/ suchrionic hemmorhage. 2 days later my RE said i had 3 more blood "pools" in my uterus that my body would either absorbe it or pass it. i put myself on bed rest for 2 days (the doc did not prescribe it but i read on the internet that it helps). i did have some brown bleedings for another 2 weeks and it's completely slowed down since (except for a little bit of spotting from my endometrin, 9 more days of that messy stuff...). i saw my ob this week and all looked great. when i was diagnosed with subchrinoic hemmorrhage i looked it up online and found that it only causes m/c in 3% of the cases and is very common, especially with IVF pregnancies as our uterine lining gets built up way more than it would naturally be. hope it will work out for you too!
best wishes
julia

Thanks for your stories! So I had my US on Tues and saw a lil heartbeat but bleed still there. Doc said he sees this frequently and there is not much I can do but wait it out til my next sono this Mon. Still have some brown spotting which I have been told is old blood. Working but not too hard and resting as soon as I get home. Trying to stay positive knowing my lil bean does have heartbeat :D

I need to look up this topic but I am curious is this something they could see/pinpoint on an ultrasound? I am 8 weeks and I started bleeding todaay. It seemed like a lot to me and it was bright red with I assume some small clots. I am worried sick. They were not able to see anything on US. The babies still both have strong HB but they said they dont know the source. I am on Bed rest this weekend and I go back Monday. Any advice / stories will be appreciated greatly!!!

KatieG...SCH can be seen on us. Sometimes they find it without any bleeding. Is this the first time you have bled? So far I haven't since last Sunday. Patiently waiting for my us on Mon. I will say a prayer for you!
