Third Beta did not double :(

Post by sakooooot »

Hello all,

I got my very first bfp after my 2nd ivf cycle last friday which was 11 dp3dt. My first beta was at 126, my second beta on Monday was 292 and nurse was happy since it had doubled. Then she sent me for third beta on Wednesday and it came out to be 548 which she said is a bit worrisome since it should have doubled so she wants me to go again tomorrow for a fourth beta! I am really worried and disappointed and think I might have miscarried anyway I also had a stressful situation yesterday which is making me feel like it could have affected my baby. I am also having mild cramps and some lower back pain which is freaking me out even more! We had transferred 3 embryos on day 3 and I am 30 years old.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Because your beta didn't double for the third time doesn't mean that you are miscarrying. With this pregnancy, my second beta only increased by half so not even close to doubling. My third beta increased by 75% and after my fourth or fifth did my beta finally start doubling. I know that they have revised their requirements for betas and the new rule is for it to increase by at least 60% in 48 hours.

I think by now you are supposed to have another beta drawn so just let us know what they results are.

Angela, thanks for replying and making me feel better. I hope what you are saying is true me for me too :) The only other thing that is bothering me is the fact that two days after my first beta, I started having a lot of nausea and extreme hunger which completely vanished by the third day (the day I had a stressful situation) and the only symptom that the nausea replaced was mild cramping...so, that keeps me worried. I had my blood drawn today but not sure if I will get the results today or not. I was hoping to get them by now but probably will get them by Monday. Will keep you posted and thanks again.

I had mild cramping for almost the entire first trimester. A little bit of nausea but then they changed my prenatal vitamin and I had no nausea or morning sickness. :) Don't worry. I'm sure your little bean is doing wonderful!

Thanks Ladies! My fourth beta came out to be 970..not almost double but I went early in the morning as opposed to late in the afternoon..my nurse is happy with it and no more betas for me...now i'll just go for my first ultrasound next week. I will try not to think about numbers until then!
