low AMH and poor response to stims

Post by lt81 »

Hi

I am 29 years old and have an AMH level of 7. We are part way through our first go at IVF. We are on a short antagonist protocol (225 menopur and cetrotide). I had my day 6 scan on Friday and they could only see 3 follicles.

Anyone know if more can appear? We have our day 10 scan tomorrow, but the nurse didn't sound hopeful of more appearing over the weekend. The biggest follicle was measuring 11mm.

I know some clinics cancel cycles where they have less than 4 follicles. Am I ever likely to get more on another cycle or should I just accept this is as good as it gets????

Also, the clinic policy is only to put back 1 embryo unless the patient is over 37 years old. Is the reason for this to do with a decline in ovarian reserve in older patients? Obviously, that's where I am at now at 29, so don't want to limit my chances of success (also the national health service will only fund one cycle and we can't afford to fund another cycle).

Any help much appreciated!

I am in the same vote. I am 31 with low egg reserve and we have done 2 IVF cycles. The first one we had 1 embryo transferred and it was struggling. The 2nd IVF our RE changed our protocol and we got 4 embries. One was a grade A, one was a grade B, and the other 2 were grade Cs. We opted to put them all in and ended up with a chemical pregnancy. So we did get closer with the 2nd cycle and we plan on doing a 3rd cycle in January. I hope my story helps you. The doctors are pushing donor eggs, but I am not ready for that yet. Even though I have a low reserve all we need is one good one that sticks. Good luck with your cycle.

Thanks Amanda. We have our egg collection on Monday. Only three mature follicles at today's scan but another 2 a few millimetres behind and 2 more small ones. Hoping the 2 catch up by Monday! The clinic gave us the option of abandoning the cycle but weren't hopeful that any other cycle would be more successful.

Hey Amanda. We got 5 eggs today at egg collection which I am thrilled about. Just hoping they are all cosy in the incubators overnight ready to give me some good news in the morning about how many have fertilised :D

3 is a great number! How did it go? Sorry took so long to response we went to the beach for a week, so I haven't been on the computer much. I am so excited for you :) Was it a 3day or 5 day transfer? Just enjoy the 2 weeks of being PUPO.

Hi ladies,
On my second attempt after no response first time. Poor responder with low or here.

Curious, what protocol are you on? They put me on AACEP and I've got 5 on the rt and 2 on the left ovary. Hoping for retrieval on Wednesday.... Need them to keep growing.... How is the wait going? Sending good thoughts.

Hi

I was on a short antagonist cycle - 225 menopur and cetrorelix.

The wait hasn't been too bad, I took a week away with the parents as my husband was working away and in total will have had just over 2 weeks off. I am lucky enough to have brilliant bosses - one of whom has 3 children from IVF so he knows how important it is to stay chilled out and has sent me home when it is quiet etc and let me work from home. AF is due today but no spotting or bleeding yet which I hope is a good sign but not sure if the progesterone messes the natural cycle up. I have had a mild ache around the womb area all day like maybe AF is about to arrive but I'm not worrying too much about it because that has happened on and off in the last 2 weeks anyway.

We have our pregnancy test on Wednesday - so positive vibes for both of us! Let us know how you got on.
