Hello,
I went to this clinic last year. I too drove an hour and a half each way but it was worth it because I got pregnant on my first cycle and now have a wonderful baby boy who is 5 months old. I have never been to another clinic so I can't compare but the fact that I now have a child on my first try is enough for me to recommend them. I didn't do the research trial though so I can't speak to that. I'm sure you have questions but I'm not sure what specifically you need to know so please feel free to ask whatever and I would love to help you as much as I can.
thanks so much for getting back to me. . . can you tell me about the IVF hospital and the city. Does the city seem safe?? did you ever stay over night? do you know if there are hotels near by. Is it located right off of the turnpike or is it hard to find? did you get stuck in traffic often??
thanks again
any and all info would be appreciated.

Hi Carrie,
I heard about them from my husband's aunt who is a school principal. She said many of the teachers at her school went to URA and had a good experience. I didn't know anyone personally but I tried it anyway. Hasbrouck Heights is in a pretty busy area but it was safe. It's in a nice neighborhood. We had to go to a hotel on the same street as part of the cycle. It was an informational session that everyone has to attend that is going to have a cycle with them. That was at a Hilton so obviously that hotel was nice but I don't know about others. We didn't stay overnight at all but as I said it is a busy area so I'm sure there are several hotels close by. URA isn't really at a hospital. The drs are affiliated with Hackensack University Medical Center and UMDNJ which are both good hospitals. Dr. McGovern is in the practice and he has received awards for top fertility drs. You have to wait longer to get an appointment with him however while you are there you will probably see all the drs because they take shifts and you will be there so much you will most likely get him also. I had Dr. Wolf and I didn't like her at first however ended up liking her a lot. The building itself looks like more of an office building however you get everything done there. In the back there is an operating room where the retrieval and transfers take place. I was not impressed with the look of the office and the way it runs initially. You have to be there every morning between 7-8 am in order to get a sonogram to see that you are responding to the meds. There is usually a line at 7 and you have to wait as it is first come first serve. It is fairly small but there are a good number of women in the morning because everyone has to go. However, the receptionist and doctors did get to know me while I was there so I felt there was some personalization. There wasn't that much traffic in the morning because I left so early in the morning but I didn't run into some on the way home because that was around rush hour when I was getting out. I went to college around there so I knew how to get there so it wasn't that hard. I'm sure with a gps you'll be fine. Please let me know if you think of anything else. I know I was very anxious and overwhelmed about the whole process so if I can help you I would love to. Good luck!

thank you so much for all of the information. I was pregnant at the same time as you b/c I have a 6 month old girl, who I conceived through IVF. I am considering doing the clinical trial in NJ b/c I've already paid well over $20,000 out of pocket during the last 4 years of trying. My health insurance in Maine doesn't cover infertility. I will pm you with any more questions if I decide to go forward.
thanks again for being so helpful

I don't really know what to think about those guys after what happened with my second IVF procedure I did there. I agree with all the positive feedback about them that listed here. The only thing is I felt they got so busy and have many people that they do not take the time to get to know you and you are just another patient for them. There were a couple of times when the procedures were mismanaged which made me think: if you mismanage and mishandle the things I know about, what happens with things I don't know and don't have a chance to check. So the last thing that put a huge doubt about their professionalism in my mind is that after my second IVF (the first one in February 2010 did not work) and after I did not show up for my pregnancy test (well, I got my period that morning) NOBODY called me up to day to find out what happened or to recommend to still take the test to avoid possible mistakes of self-diagnosis. It's been three weeks so far and now I am not calling them just to see if they will ever realize they do not have the official final result. I'm stunned.
I must say that I have been going to URA for the last two months and they have been great. In the beginning I was a little nervous, but once I became personal with the staff and the doctors things have been going smoothly. I have dr aimee seungdamrong and she is really good. Will keep you posted after I go through my first cycle.
