Hi all, I had an u/s today and the baby measured 6weeks 2 days and there was a heartbeat. I am actually 7 weeks exactly today. Is this common? The doctor said that the machines can have an error margin of a few days. He said it's "going in the right direction" but offered to see us again in 2.5 weeks for another u/s. Would love to hear if anyone had this happen. Good or bad.... thx
I've also been told that measuring within 5 days is considered acceptable. At the first u/s the embryo is so small, a few millimeters only, that it's really hard to measure accurately. So it's way too early for you to worry.

I don't want to be "Debbie Downer", but it's not necessarily a good thing.
For me, at 6 weeks, the baby measured perfectly and had a strong heartbeat
At 7 weeks, the baby still measured only about 6w1d, but still had a strong heartbeat. I was told it could go either way (they wouldn't give me odds). It's a great sign that there is a heartbeat, but not growing so much is not a good thing.
By 8 weeks, the heartbeat had stopped and the baby still measured 6 weeks. (2 weeks later, I still hadn't miscarried so I had a D&C).
There are measurement mistakes all the time. A few mm here or there will put your dates a bit off.
It's not definitively a bad thing, but it's not so great either. They should do another scan in about a week to see how things are progressing.
ETA: Is this your first scan? If so, this is even less to worry about. Measuring a bit small is fine - it's the not growing as quickly that's the real problem
I really hope this works out for you! Keep us updated!
