MAY 2011 BABY or BABIES!

Post by Hopefulat37 »

We just found out our first round of IVF Worked! We are so excited but EXTREMELY cautious and not talking to many people about it. Needless to say...I am going CRAZY but at the same time I am so scared that something will go wrong and we will lose this pregancy too.....

We just entered our 6th week and they think we might be having twins.
Our first Beta count was 450, our second two days later was 960 and our third Beta count four days later was over 7,000.
We go in for an ultrasound on Monday 9/13 to find out.
Anyone else out there expecting a May baby?

Hi Hopeful,
I'm in the same boat. Our first FET worked (we never went to transfer with our first fresh IVF due to OHSS), so Bean will be due 1 May 2011 if he hangs on in there! Like you I'm cautiously optimistic and going crazy not being able to shout it from the rooftop just yet! First ultrasound for us in 15 Sept, only 7 more sleeps! Just a singleton for us as we only transferred one emby and there's no reason to think it split.
Good luck and hopefully we have a few others join us here!

Hi Kiz,
Thank you SO much for responding. How are you feeling?
I am stil on the progesterone, they say that after the Ultrasound on Monday they will begin to take me off of it since my levels are nice and high.
I am beginning to have a bit of an upset stomach a few hours after I wake up. Especially when I am at work. I am able to eat breakfast though...
My clothes are feeling a little snug and definitely feel better with them unzipped. :)
I have a little cramping from time to time that makes me nervous.

I think you are funny calling it your little bean....My sister calls my a peanut. lol

Again, thanks SO much for writing and hopefully we will be able to keep in touch and share stories of our babies.

Hi Hopeful,

Sorry, I've been MIA.

Feeling horrible with morning sickness now. I'm not enjoying that at all. Good luck with the ultrasound today, be sure to let me know how it goes.

I can sympathise with the clothes already starting to feel snug! I think mine were already a bit that way from the bloating from the HRT so until I'm off the progesterone and estrogen, I can tell if it's from bean or the drugs.

Cheers
Kiz

Hi PA_FA,
Thanks! I'm so glad everything is going well for you now despite those early hiccups and anxiety! Are you feeling a little more relaxed about it now? Hope you had a nice weekend in Honolulu! And yes, morning sickness is a walk in the park compared to the OHSS!

Kiz- I still feel anxious a lot just seeing what some of you have gone through. Most of my friends think that once you are out of the first trimester then everything is easy sailing. Just take one look at some of the sad stories on this board and you quickly realize different. I try not to think about it but I like to be aware of any possibilities and know about symptoms to look for for PTL. Went to the OB today. Everything is great so far. My next big apt is at 20w for the level II u/s.
Anyhow...enough rambling...hugs to you and all of your wonderful cycle buddies!

Hey Kiz,

Thanks for the reply. Monday's Ultrasound went great. They confirmed two, and we were able to see and hear both VERY tiny heartbeats. It was amazing and then it sunk in.....OMG! Twins....well I am only 105 pounds...this is sure to be an interesting journey! lol Our families are so excited!
They are beginning to take us off the progesterone, so now we will take it every other night. So tomorrow will be interesting, but the Dr. said that if I have any spotting to start the injections back up.
They are sending me to a specialist since I am considered high risk with having two babies, along with being 37 years old.
Then off for my first visit with my OBGYN for baby visits.

Continue to keep me posted on how you are doing and thanks again for writing back.

CONGRATS Hopeful! That's great news. Is this your first pregnancy? At 105 pounds, those babies are going to make you look like you're carrying a beach ball! Good luck!

I had my ultrasound on Wednesday and all was good there too. We could see Bean's little heart beating away at 156bpm and even saw him/her moving their little arm and leg buds around which the technician said was an excellent sign.

PA_FA - I understand exactly what you mean about the worry. I had an argument with DH last night about why I'm so concerned about everything. He says I'm being pessimistic about things going wrong and that I should just stop it and enjoy the experience. Easy for him to say! I say I'm just being a realist and that while I'm concerned about everything (miscarriage, down's testing, etc) it doesn't mean I'm not happy or enjoying the experience (whilst I could certainly live without the morning sickness experience!).

Congrats to all of us with May 2011 babies! We are 7 weeks pregnant from our first IVF. We have unexplained secondary infertility and have a son 5 1/2 yrs old conceived naturally. I am 39 and wanted to try IVF just so we could say that we did everything to give our son a sibling. We can't believe that it worked! I had really bad OHSS and had to be drained twice but feel better now. Now, our concern is that we went for ultrasound yesterday (i was exactly seven weeks) and the baby measured only 6wks 2 days with a heartbeat. The doctor just said that we can go back again in 2.5 weeks for another ultrasound and said that the machine can have a margin of error. It's hard not to be worried that things are not developing normally. I will be very anxious for the next appointment. We have kept our whole IVF ordeal as a secret and haven't told anyone yet about being pregnant. I enjoy connecting with people on this website as to not feel so alone.. Would love to hear if anyone has experienced something similar. Thanks all!

Nicnad - Congrats! It would seem you and I are in a pretty similar boat, as this was our first transfer, though it was a frozen transfer following the cancellation of transfer after the fresh cycle due to hospitalisation for OHSS. We also didn't really let many people in on our IVF experience, although now a few people know. I've found this board to be a saviour in some very low moments and a great spot to share the highs.

Wow, we're being quiet in here ladies!

Nothing new on my front to discuss anyway. Had a bleed on Wednesday which caused untold mental anguish on my end until I calmed myself down and finally managed to speak to a doc. Feeling much better now (and worse, as the morning sickness returned after a two day disappearance!)

Hi Kiz,

Yeah, I keep checking the board but have nothing to tell. I'm anxiously waiting for my u/s on Oct 4th to see if the baby is developing normally and has "caught up". I still feel very pregnant and have had no neg signs. It is very nerve wracking. It's like I'm not allowing myself to be excited about the pregnancy until I know for sure things are ok. I'm at 8.5 weeks now... I'll post when I know what's going on with me. Good luck to you. Hope things continue to go well with no bleeding...

Hi Ladies,
I have been MIA over the past week or so. The babies are developing very well. We are officially 9 weeks today.
I started spotting (dark brown)on Sunday and they brought me in for an U.S. on Monday. Both babies are still doing fine and they are not sure where the spotting is coming from.
They sure have grown over the past 3 weeks. We had an U.S. at 6 weeks with the Science Center and all we could see was a little fluttering heartbeat. At that time their heartrates were 119 and 123. On Monday when I went in, I was able to see more of the babies and their hearts. not quite showing their arms and legs yet but they both had strong heartbeats. 170 and 168.
We have another U.S. in about 2 weeks.
I am still spotting, not sure what's up but I am trusting the Doctors that everything is still fine with the babies.
I discussed the light cramping I have around my hips bones around to my pelvic bone and he said this is common to, due to the stretching that is beginning to happen.
I have been feeling pretty lousy over the past few weeks, however today I am feeling better and have been able to graze most of the morning on different foods.

Still worry-some with these little ones......I wonder if that will ever subside...

Hopefulat37 - I hope your spotting has subsided as that must be worrying! Sounds like all is well other than that though!

AFM - still nothing much to report! Still getting plenty of MS, but learning to live with it! I had my blood test for the Downs syndrome screening this morning and the ultrasound is in two weeks - that's nerve wrecking, but hopefully all is fine. First OB appointment with the antenatal clinic at the hospital next monday - I'm sort of looking forward to that.
