Thanks so much everyone for the info! All of your comments prompted me to call the exchange and I am so glad I did! It has been a long process but I seem to be on the up-swing. I still have fluid around my liver that is really painful as well as in my lower abdomen. My ovaries are measuring 13 and 14cm (normal is 3!!) so my belly is quite large. All of this is making breathing difficult. On Lovenox (blood thinner) that burns more than the Menopur did. OHSS is NOT something to mess with! Needless to say we had to freeze our lil ones; I have just been too sick. It was a sad day to be honest and I am a little discouraged that out of 35 eggs 22 fertilized and on day 3 17 were between 6-10 cells and we only got 4 frozen. My goal was not to have to go through with another fresh cycle. Feeling a little down but trying to stay positive. I haven’t even looked at what goes into a FET...................just feel exhausted.

Hi Amanda,

Thx for posting. I was hoping that you were alright. My OHSS is much much better. I had a 2nd draining, but have felt better ever since. (this was 3 weeks post egg retrieval) I still have about 7lbs of fluid but it's more comfortable and my system is tolerating it more. At least I can eat, have less pain and can mostly hide the extra weight. I trust that you are on the upswing as well... Sorry to hear about your embies being only down to 4. We had 10 eggs retrieved, 8 fertilized, 2 transferred and only 2 frozen. I will cross my fingers that the FET works for you. I know a woman who got pregnant with a frozen embryo, so stay positive. I am officially 6 weeks pregnant. Will find out next week if it's twins.... Fingers crossed that the pregnancy progresses...lots of stories online of m/c.. scary stuff... Take Care! Nicole

Hi ladies....

Reading all your stories on hyper stim, I actually got hyper stim when I did my retrieval also, my Dr recommended I wait to go ahead with transfer so its been about 7 weeks.. I just started by estrace and go for U/S Monday... From there I will know when I get my 1st transfer.... I am so excited but so nervous... I have read a mix of BFP BFN so it gets me scared , but I am going to think positive and hope I get pregnant, I am 34 yrs old everything was fine with me but my DH was very low, slow and shaped abnormal, we retrieved 22 eggs 14 made it to Frosties... I am so hoping one of those Frosties will be my baby... I am getting 2 frosties the first transferred, I know it gives me a chance of having twins but I am ok with that :) I really have so much love to give and cant wait to be a mom... Good Luck to all of you :) and God Bless

I don't want to wait any longer to get pregnant and now he says we may have to cancel this IVF cycle...I am so confused, can anyone help

Noelle,

I don't know your particular situation, but I can say--from experience--that OHSS is nothing to minimize. I ended up in and out of the hospital for weeks as a result. Freezing and doing a FET later--is a much better solution. I wish that I had been offered that option.

If you don't get pregnant, it will resolve fairly quickly and not be a too big deal, most likely. But if you get pregnant, the hormones that your body produces make the disorder worse--your body cavities can fill with fluid--belly and possibly lungs. I unfortunately had both and had to have multiple drainings that were absolutely miserable. It was also quite painful for me.

It is definitely worth waiting another month or so to be pregnant to avoid the risk of serious OHSS.

If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me.

And best of luck--when is your ER? Are they going to go ahead and retrieve and freeze the embies? or cancel the cycle?
