First time ICSI/IVF cycle

Post by FrecklesDC »

Hello everyone! :D

My name is Kaylie. I am new to this forum and extremely new to IVF. I have been on BC pills and will begin my FIRST Lupron injection this evening. I'm stimming October 1-10 and my ER is around October 12. My transfer is scheduled for October 15-17. I am so excited and so extremely nervous. I have step-children and my DH and I want one of our own. He had a vasectomy 8 years ago and we have decided to go the ICSI/IVF route.

I'm so glad I found this forum and I'm able to speak with people who are going through the same things I am!

Can you offer any advice or ideas of what I will go through with the injections? I begin Lupron this evening followed by:

Follistim
Estradiol 2mg tabs
Menopur Inj
and Novarel
Followed by: Crinone gel 8%

I just want to hear from people who have been through this before. Do the injections hurt very bad? What symptoms have you experienced? What is the WORST part of the injections or the WORST one for that matter!

Thanks in advance to everyone who replies back and I hope I can be a support to you as well!

Kind thoughts and prayers......

Kaylie

Hi Kaylie...

I am new to IVF too, but have done the shots in July/Aug... They look worse then they are, I did mine in my belly and it didnt hurt at all... And believe me Im a big baby when it comes to needles, I just switched sides of my stomach so it wouldnt get to sore... Unfortunatley I ended up with Hyper stim so it put my dream on hold for alittle bit, but I am back up and at it and ready to go :) I started my estrace 5 days ago and go for my u/s Monday to see when they will transfer, cross your fingers for me... I'M excited nervous and scared all in one, but these forums have really helped by chatting with other women... I don't know too much but am learning as I go if I can be of any help let me know...

Good luck with everything :)

Thanks so much for the response. I'm definitely anxious...excited and a little scared!

How was the "hyper stim?" I'm afraid of that, too but I guess you can't worry about things that are out of your control, right?

I will definitely cross my fingers for you. This forum has been wonderful for me...even for the day or so I've "officially" been on. I wish you much success. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing and what happens at your appointments!!!

Hi Kaylie...

Reading alot of the other women's post on Hyper Stim, I guess I got lucky cause I didnt get it as bad.... I gained about ten pounds looked 4 or 5 mnths prego and was in alot of pain, but didnt have to get drained, thank god cause I probably would have died... I didnt know anything about hyper stim till I got it...It was never brought to my attention and I was so new to IVF that I never asked about it... Guess it was better that I didnt I may have chickened out... :) I will definitely keep you posted on Mondays appt... Keep me updated too :)

hi Kaylie,

Thanks for asking, they think they seen something in my ovaries... So I have to go back tomorrow for Bloodwork and U/S they dont know if its follicles growing (ovulating) or cyst... If its follicles they are probably going to take me off meds til my next cycle... :( Cross your fingers that tomorrow I get better news... I so want to get the transfer it feels like forever... The waiting is what is killing me :(

Kaylie....How is everything going with you?

Good luck! I am 23 and also in my first IVF/ICSI cycle too. My Dr said since I'm so young and with all the medications they have me on(BC, Lupron, Gonal-f, Ovidrel, & Progestrone Oil)...I have a high possibility for hyper stimulation so ICSI will be the best route to take. My husband and I have been married for almost 8 years and TTC for about 5 years now. I had my tubes removed 03/2010 b/c they were blocked/damaged and didn't want to risk having a tubal pregnancy. As of today, I'm on Lupron injection Day 3.

Again, good luck and keep us all posted.
