Hi abf - our stories are very similar. I had a tubal ligation in 1996 and a tubal reversal in Aug 2008. We had one chemical pregnancy Aug 2009 and an ectopic in Feb 2010 where I lost my right tube and right ovary. So after trying for almost 2 years on our own, we're going to go through our 1st IUI cycle as soon as AF shows up (she's due Mon or Tues.) I ovulate too, but being that I'm 37 and down to one ovary, we wanted to be a bit more aggressive so I'll be using injectables with my first IUI to see if we can stimulate my one ovary more before the insemination.
The IUI with injectables aren't cheap - this cycle will be about $2500 when you add in the meds, all the screening, & insemination. My primary insurance covers nothing and while I do have DH's tricare standard as my secondary, I'd have to get a referral from the base doctor. But I can't see the base doctor because I have to use my primary insurance first, yada, yada, yada so we're completely out of pocket. The RE feels pretty optimistic about trying IUI a couple times since I have gotten pregnant twice since the reversal, but if we have no luck with the IUIs, we'll move onto IVF at that point.
Good luck and definitely keep me posted on how it goes!!
