Hi Ladies,
I would love to join you if you'll have me!
I remember many of you from cycling together in the past. I also read the April babies thread a few times, so recognize some of you from there. I have been off this site except for reading every now and then and catching up with some old friends. It is great to hear how well everyone's LOs are doing. I am not on face book so I hope that everyone will still be chatting on here. I love hearing updates!
Carolyn, I can't believe that your guys are 7.5 months already! Where has the time gone?
TIa, if I remember correctly from the april babies thread you and I had the same due date of April 19? I'm glad to see Savannah is doing so well after her early entrance!
JG, twins and working must certainly keep you busy! I look forward to hearing more about your two.
Baylorbear, I recognize your name from the IVF board.Congrats so on the birth of your son.
Sorry to those of you I have missed!
By the way - I love the names everyone has given their LOs!
I hope to do more personals as I spend more time with you ladies. In the mean time I will tell you about about my son. Andrew was born 10 days late. It was a fairly short labour and delivery but when he came out he had the cord 1x around his neck and when he took his first breath it was too big and he popped a little hole in one of his lungs. He had to go into the nursery and be hooked up to monitors and such. To let the hole heal we had to not touch him to make sure he did not get stimulated. He was on an IV for the first day, then the nurses started him on Formula the 2nd day and I got to start nursing him on the 3rd day. We came home on the 4th day and has certainly changed our lives forever!
I was worried that breast feeding wouldn't work because of our delayed start, but he nurses just fine and happily takes a bottle or the breast, will take formula if needed and likes both soothers and his thumb. Bottom line, he just likes to suck and isn't picky about what he's sucking!

Because Andrew has just turned 5 months yesterday we haven't started him on solids yet. Despite Canada's lengthy mat leave I have returned to work part time. I can make more by working 3 days a week, so I have gone back early. My colleagues don't understand why I feel I had to go back, but I didn't share my infertility with them so they don't know as well as you all do exactly how much it cost me to get pregnant. Not to mention the fact that we really want Andrew to have a sibling and that will not be cheap either! We want to try soon so as long as solids go well at 6 months I will start weaning Andrew and pray my cycle starts up asap so we can the get the ball rolling on #2. I would love to be expecting again next spring! I loved being pregnant - what an amazing experience, hey! And I can't wait to have another little bundle of love as wonderful as Andrew is!
I thought I read at some point that
deftones (am I thinking about the right person?) is a teacher and returned to work not too long ago, too. I am a teacher as well. How are you finding it, deftones? I think it would be very hard to go back mid-year and take over a class that someone else had been teaching for you. I am happy to be with my class right from the beginning of the year. Luckily my DS is sleeping through the night lately so even though I get up in the night to pump, I am still able to get an otherwise good night's sleep. I really could not have gone back to work right away! Those first few weeks were so tough!
Well I think I've rambled on enough. I look forward to hearing from all you wonderful and blessed mummies very soon!
Kim
