I am new here, just went in for my CD9 ultrasound....doctor says I am hyper stimulated and need to "coast" for now and may need to cancel this IVF cycle and freeze possibly...what does this mean? I don't want to wait any longer to get pregnant, can anyone offer any advice
Noelle- I'm sorry this is happening. My first IVF cycle was like yours. I ended up having to freeze all embies. If you hyperstim, you don't want to do a transfer. Getting pregnant when hyperstimmed is a horrible situation. It actually gets worse due to the pregnancy HCG hormone. My RE wavered at cancel vs. freeze all. Had I known then what I know now, I would have just cancelled (but he said he had to still do the ER to keep me from getting really sick). My RE said overstimming often reduces the qauality of the egg...thus giving you fragmented, poorer quality embies. Which is exactly what happened to me. But he didn't coast me either...so maybe your body will adjust to the coasting. It's not an easy situation, I know. Many of us know. Hang in there. Sending prayers your way.

Gemma Grace was born June 24, 2011!
A friend of mine commenced her 1st ivf in April, she hyperstimulated also and had to have her embryos frozen as they wouldnt risk her getting ill, while she was so disappointed at the time it worked out wonderfully they did a fet 2 mths later and she is now 12 wks pregnant. Things happen for a reason so dont worry your docs are just doing whats best for you and if it means a healthy pregnancy in a couple of mths it will be worth it.

Sorry that this happened to you but you definitely do not want to proceed and get pregnant because it can be life threatening and you might have to be hospitalized. I know it is disappointing but it is much better for you to be in good health when you do get pregnant than in the hospital getting fluid removed from your stomach, etc.
