Progesterone effects

Post by JLY123 »

Hi all,

I just started my progesterone injections 2 nights ago (after my oocyte retrieval) and literally feel like theyre attacking my body. Aside from the fact that I can not do those IM injections myself and they are SO painful to me, I have insane heartburn and every other GI side effect in the world. Anyone else going thru or went thru something like this?
Me- 26 (perfect)
DH- 33 (questionable low morphology)
Conceived naturally- miscarried at 6 wks
3 Failed IUIs on Clomid and Ovidril
1st IVF Sep-Oct 2010
22 retrieved, ICSI on 21
2 blasts transfered/ 1 frozen
BFP!!! THANK GOD

Hey there,

I have been getting the shots forbabout 3 weeks now.
They were so brutal to me week two.. I don't know what
you mean about gi .. I only had issues with the pain. My
butt got two huge lumps (knots) just above each butt cheek.
They got so huge I did not fit into my jeans and it was painful
to sit, walk, etc.. I dud exactly what the doctor told me to do
and massaged the area alot throughout the day with a heat pad.
It got so bad my husband had trouble putting the needle in the
right spot as my butt was rock hard.
I was told to soak in epsom salts twenty min each day and buy cream
from the health store called arnica.. I'm guessing it worked because
I have relief finally in my third week thankfully.
I was so worried that I was reacting poorly to the meds but apparently
everyone is different. I also got very itchy at the needle spots just before
it got better..
Hope this helps a little. Hang in there it will all be worth it :)

Hi ...

I no how you feel with your body just going crazy with the progesterone effects, I am getting extremely dizzy and light headed and feeling very weak and nauseous I am only day 6 using Crinoe gel after 2 days of using it I have been all over the place, so I took a trip to my GP yesterday who told me it was "normal" to be feeling like this and it just ment it was a sign of it working! and once my body gets used to the drugs it will subside:) just wish the nurses had told me this as I asked them should I expect side effects and she told me that I wont,

Maybe you should ask your doctor to change you to using the gel rather than the shots which may make your bum feel a little better.

I wish you all the best of luck :D
