Hopeful - If the u/s shows everything looks good, I'm sure it is. This is about the time the placentas will take over and that causes spotting in a lot of women. My BFF actually JUST went through this with her singleton at 11 weeks. They couldn't find any blood in the uterus and her LO is fine.
I implant bleeding at 4 weeks (a few days before beta, but about 3 days after I got my BFP), 6.5 weeks (so my RE did an early u/s and that's when we found out it was twins...no blood in the uterus, probably came from the cervix) and then at 10 weeks. The 10 weeks was actually gushing blood due to an SCH. I bled then spotted for 6 1/2 weeks with that. So yes, spotting it VERY normal. It was a good idea to go in for an u/s just to make sure and for peace of mind. If it doesn't go away in the next few days then call your OB, but I think my friend spotted for about a week.
BTW - when I was gushing blood at the hospital, the doctor did an exam and said it was all old blood that had gotten trapped in my vagina. I was pretty darn pink/red so I was trying to figure out how THAT was possible (I mean, how big did he think my vagina WAS to hold that much??), but it turned out to be fine.
Hopeful - Like Babyluv, I had bleeding too. It was a SCH and gushed red blood at the beginning, then turned brown and stayed that way for 5 weeks. Your u/s went well and babies are fine so no worries. There are many reasons you might be showing a little old blood, it could simply be that there are two little ones growing fast in there. I am sure it has nothing to do with when your normal cycle is. Keep being hopeful, think positive because these babies are going to do great! We all worry though, especially at the beginning, but then again, that is why we are here! To help each other through it!

TWINS!! Born 10/13/10 Ethan Andrew and Angelina Lilly
Babyluv & stephanie- Thank you for posting your expierences with bleeding in pregnancy. My DH and I found out we are expecting twins on 10/1 and on 10/4 I had bright red bleeding and clots (@ 6 weeks). We ended up in the ER and was told that I also have a sch. It was the most terrifying thing that I have ever been through! They did an u/s and was able to see both sacs with twin A having a fetal pole and hb of 100. They couldnt find a pole on twin B but said it was probably still early as it is measuring about 3 days behind the other. It just gives me such relief to see that you guys had the same expierence and have gone on to have healthy almost full term pregnancies.
Anyway, I have another u/s on Monday to make sure all is still well and will hopefully see a hb for both twins this time. I know I'm still pretty early but I would like to join the twin mamas group if that is ok. Best of luck to everyone!
hopeforbabies, I just wanted to congratulate you on your twin pregnancy! That is very exciting. I too was diagnosed with SCH around 7 weeks or so. It is very scary to experience but I was placed on restrictions and it cleared up on its own as the pregnancy progressed. I just wanted to wish you luck at your ultrasound apt and please keep us posted. Wishing you a happy, healthy 9 months!!!
Teresa congrats!! I remember you from our March board and saw recently on the Fall board that you were having twins. Super excited for you and happy you have joined our little club Best of luck with the twins...I'm sure everything will turn out great. SCH is super common with twins (as you can tell, a lot of us have been there). You will feel much better once you see both heartbeats. 6 weeks is still pretty early. I saw my girls' at 6w5d, so hopefully they will cooperate at your next u/s!
Dolo- If you dont mind me asking how long did you bleed for? Does it still reoccure of you or has it gone away completely? Was there anything your OB did to slow it down or stop the bleeding other then bedrest or modified activity?
hopefor: I had maybe two or three episodes most with old blood. It was not heavy but enough for me to notice, They were short episodes, usually resolved in a couple of days. I think my last episode was around my 16th week? My last episode was a little heavier so I was freaking out. So from around 7 to 16 weeks I was to be on restrictions, no bending, no lifting,no working out, laying down as much as possible and was told to call with with any other bleeding episodes with or with out cramping. I never had another episode but then not long after that I was then diagnosed with Marginal Previa, which resolved on its own as well. It seems like some, not all that had SCH were at some point diagnosed with a previa, I wonder if it is related at all ? It was explained to me that the old blood really has no place to go, it sits in the uterus so it is common for it to come out. Where it is old, who knows how long it has even been there, maybe since implantation. Constipation is common in pregnancy and my doctor told me to make sure you don't strain going to the bathroom, she said the pushing can cause bleeding as well, just FYI. Like the others said, as long as everything looks good on the ultrasounds, that is the most important thing. I know that it does not ease the nerves much, but try to hang in there and good luck.
Hi Ladies. I saw that you were talking about bleeding with twin pregnancy, and I want to share a little of what happened with me. My 4th IVF, I was given the great news that I was having triplets!! However at the 6 week mark, one had no hb. I started bleeding at 13 weeks and kept bleeding until 16 weeks. The dr. didnt know why, he said just to take it easy. I asked if it was my triplet, but he said prob not...IVF ladies tend to bleed more than other women because of hormone shifts. I started bleeding again from 21-25 weeks. Again, nothing wrong with babies ever. The last time I bled was about 2 months before I delivered at 36w1d. And again everything was fine...never had any problems with the babies. I worked full time as a teacher until the day before they were born. Aiden Christpher was born 5lbs 8 oz and Gabriella Page was 4lbs 5oz almost 9 months ago now :0) No NICU time, we all went home in 4 days. Now Aiden is about 20lbs and Ella is about 17;bs.
So, I wanted t0 share to first tell you to ENJOY being pregnant ( I worried too much about EVERYTHING), and that bleeding doesnt always mean something is wrong. Trust your instincts, dont panic, and understand you will always have something to worry about now that youre a mom, this may not be one of them :0)

Love Bug, thanks so much for your post. I am happy that everything worked out for you and you had two beautiful babies! I love the picture, they are so sweet!! I agree, we need to just relax and enjoy our pregnancy because it is so easy to be consumed with fear and let this blessing pass us by.
Thank you all SO much for replying to my posting about the bleeding issue.
The bleeding has subsided and we have another Ultrasound this Saturday. I am beginning to feel a little better as we enter our 11th week...my regular pants or should I say "pre-pregnancy" pants are now a thing of the past and my regular loose fitting shirts are beginning to become a bit snug. It's just a matter of time.
Trying to take it easy, scaling by my schedule for the simple fact that I don't have any energy.....
Were excited about Saturday, but for some reason I am nervous, hoping that everything is good with both babies.
Does it ever really sink in that you have two babies inside you? I STILL haven't come to grips with it.
Also, when did you begin to feel movement? I am thinking between 13 and 15 weeks.
Love bug- Thanks for sharing your bleeding story and how wonderful to see your beautiful twins. Congrats!
Afm- Well looks like my time with this group was short lived. We had our ultrasound yesterday and only one gestational sac was seen. The hemorriage has grown a lot (over where the missing twin was) but I'm not bleeding anymore. Our other embie has a hb of 122 bmp and is measuring 6wks and 6days. RE said it looked great and he wasn't worried that the hemorriage would effect it. He released us to our regular OB (saw the NP today) and I go back on the 26th for another u/s to make sure the hemorriage is healing.
Thank you all for your support and I wish you the best with your doubled blessings!
hopeforbabies: I am so, so sorry. Hope you are doing ok. Happy to hear your other little one is doing well and has a nice strong heartbeat. Hang in there and I wish you the best of luck with your pregnancy.
I was nervous going to every ultrasound appointment until I started feeling the babies move everyday. I would hold my breath just waiting to hear that two heartbeats were seen and then I could relax and enjoy the scan. I don't know why I was like this, maybe it has something to do with a previous loss. I still can't believe there is two. I am so excited but nervous, we are getting close now, I am 33 weeks, this is all new to me and I Just want to be the best mom I can, it will be a learning experience for sure! LOL. To answer your question, I would say that I knew it was them moving around my 17th week. I felt little sensations before then but never knew for sure if it was them or maybe something else like gas. It was not until after 28 weeks when I could feel them everyday. It depends on the position, the size of the of baby, etc. Funny though, you do get to know their patterns, when they tend to be most active, sleeping, etc. Good luck with your ultrasound apt Sat and keep us posted!!!
my c section recovery finally got better. For those planning to have c section, please go get help for at least 2 weeks after your babies are born. You will need it. You will feel sore/pain, tired. In my case, i have to take hydrocodone + morton every 4 hrs. Thank god my husband took 2 weeks off. i also had a serious swollen feet that i was told because of all the IV fluid from the operation. i also suspected the pain med had something to do with it....
i have been trying to breastfeed, but with twins, it is harder than i thought. you may want to prepare some formula at home..... if you dont have a lot of milk( like me), you can try "mother Milk Tea" or "Fenugreek". It seems to work ok with me.
Teresa - I am so sorry about the lost of one of your little babies. Glad to hear the other is doing well!
MYC - Thanks for the update and the advice! My c/s is scheduled for Nov 11 (less than 4 weeks now) and I am sooo thankful that my mom is here now and will be then. DH is taking about 1 1/2 weeks off (he can take longer if he needs to), but I'm not sure how I'd do it without he and my mom. Not just the twins, but getting the older two to preschool, and just their lives in general. I am also going to attempt to nurse and I hope it goes well, but I know those first few weeks are supposed to be pretty hard. Since my first two were adopted out of orphanages, they were both bottle fed so I am DEFINITELY not above formula (have already started stockpiling free samples). Thanks for giving us all a heads up. I hope your little ones are doing well!
Love Bug - Your twins are adorable!! So glad things are going well!
Hopeful - I agree with Dolo about being nervous all the time. It gets easier later on for sure, but I still get a little nervous at scans to check their growth. Thankfully everything is going well, but that's just a part of parenthood that never ends, just changes. There is always something to worry about.
AFM - Had an u/s yesterday and the girls look great. They are measuring 4lbs6oz and 4lbs5oz, which is pretty much right on target. Hopefully they really are that big! My c/s is scheduled for November 11 (less than 4 weeks!) so that's my end date. I'll be 37 1/2 weeks. I am 1cm and 80% effaced. My OB thinks I can make it, my high risk doctor isn't so sure. I'm hoping to get at least another 2 weeks in so I can be 36 weeks, so I've made sure to still take it pretty easy. Sometimes baby a rams her head into my cervix and I think she's trying to get out! Not yet little one, not yet!
