Hello Ladies,

How is everybody and their little ones doing?

Parenting!! It is as much challenging as it is fun!! Faith is very demanding for attention. She wants somebody to play with her always! No toy interests her for more than 5 minutes. In order distract her so that I can do my work, I have to give her something new everytime. DH leaves for job very early in the morning. So I have to put Faith on the floor along with her toys when I get ready for work, and pack her diaper bag and all that. She is not interested in the toys for more than 5 minutes. She keeps crawling behind me wherever I go and she holds on to my legs and wants me to carry her!! It is so touching that she wants to be close to me, but I have to get my things done!!! Its kind of frustrating some times.

How so you ladies handle this situation? Any ideas?

Tara

Tara - I wish I had some ideas for you, but I am going through the same thing with Piper! I don't have the issues in the morning getting ready for work, but I do in the evenings. Since Piper hasn't seen me all day, she wants my attention from the time I get home to the time she goes to bed. I'm having a really hard time keeping up with school.

My other issue is getting Piper and Ren to go to bed at a decent time. I am really starting to get sleep deprived. Just when I think I'm home free, one cries then the other one cries. I keep telling DH not to let them take so many naps since I think that's why the twins have become night owls. Any advice on bedtime rituals?

Other than bedtime problems, Piper and Ren are doing good. Piper is crawling around everywhere and pulling up on everything. Ren is still behind. He can sit up but that's about it. We have a First Steps program in Indiana and Ren qualified for it. He has a physcial therapist and developmental therapist that comes out once a week to work with him. Last week was the first week for the therapists, so I haven't seen much improvement yet. Ren will also be having his first surgery for hypospadia in December. Week before Christmas..poor little guy. I'm so nervous about his surgery. It will be 4 1/2 - 5 hours long at Riley Children's hospital. They will have to do some skin grafting and will take some skin from the inside of his mouth...ouch! This is only the 1st of 2 or 3 surgeries. What makes me feel even worse about him having hypospadia is I read online that it can sometimes be caused from all the progesterone taken during IVF cycles and sometimes it's genetic.

Well, I need to get back to work. I've been keeping up with everyone..I just haven't time to write.

Don't really have enough time to write much - but aims, DON'T CUT DOWN ON THE NAPS! Sean naps a ton, which never stops him from sleeping at night. The biggest night owls I know are my friends twins, and they don't nap AT ALL. Result is that in addition to my friend and her DH being sleep deprived, the kids are also constantly cranky and sleep deprived. I'm sure you're nervous about the surgery, my nephew needed skin grafts for burns he got on the palms of his hands when he was 2. Motherhood is all about guilt, but in this case there is nothing you could have done differently during your pregnancy to have a different outcome for Ren. These surgeons who specialize in treating children are fantastic and I'm sure the surgery will go great!

aims - I am so sorry that poor little Ren has to go through surgery in December, but as wondercat said you shouldn't have to worry much with such great doctors and medical facilities in this country. I am sure everything will go fine.

How is everybody else doing?

Faith has two lower teeth now. She is still moving holding on to some support. Once in a while she lets go both hands and stands for a couple of seconds. I am waiting for the exciting day when she takes her first steps!!

I have a question for you ladies. Since Faith is wearing diapers almost 24/7, her skin in that area is darker than rest of her body. I am just using Aveeno baby lotion all over her body. Is there any other treatment for the dark skin in the diaper area?

Hi Mommies!!!!

I didnt log on here in ages. Lets just say being pregnant and taking care of a baby is exhausting! I never imagined it being so hard but hopefully soon i will regain my energy and will be back to being somewhat normal.

aims- I'm so sorry about Ren, I hope his surgery will go smoothly i will be thinking about you both! and about the sleeping issues i found that if i put DD for a nap later than 4 she has trouble going to sleep at her usual time (7p.m) so i try my best to not let her nap after 4.

Tara- I found that using butt cream dissolves the "darker" skin but yes she does have darker skin in her butt area from time to time.

Wondercat- how are you doing? did you do your cycle already?

cymplicty- how are your twins? how is everything

My dd cut her two bottom teeth not to long ago, she started crawling and pulling up to stand fun stuff but that means hell when it comes to naps, oh well that shall pass to! ok g2g my little one is getting into trouble again.

dys - good to hear from you after a long time. Thanks for the info about the butt cream. i will try that on Faith.

something strange happened. Faith for the first time in 10 months, has refused to take her formula in the past 17 hours. She had her last 7oz bottle at 4pm yesterday. It's 9am today and till now she is pushing away her bottle. I don't know why!!! Has this happened with any of your little ones? She is eating other solid foods though. It's just her formula. I haven't changed anything.

Tara.

Hey ladies! I haven't been on here in forever!!! Things are going well with the twins. Joslyn has taken steps and seems to get more and more comfy with walking everyday. Chaz is too much of a clown to walk  We try to get him to take steps and he pushes up on his tip toes and lunges forward and trusts that someone will catch him. He can stand for a few seconds but won't step without you holding both his hands. Joslyn still only has her 2 bottom teeth and just cut ONE bottom tooth a few weeks ago.

Tara, the twins are still gulping their formula! I think I'm going to have the opposite problem in a few weeks and that's getting them to give up the bottles!

Amy, i know you can't wait for this surgery to be over and done with! I'll be praying that things go smoothly! Oh...Happy Birthday!!

As far as sleeping, the twins get about 2 good naps a day. One around 10:30 or 11:00 for a couple hours and another around 3:30 - 4:00. We usually let them sleep as long as they want during those 2 times. They are supposed to be in bed by 8:00 but I've been really slack with that lately. They go and go and go until you put them to bed and I've been letting them "go" until 8:45 some nights just because we're playing and having fun :). But they don't fight usually when we lay them down. They are pretty exhausted and are asleep withn 5 minutes or so. Chaz started to wake in the middle of the night a few weeks ago. Not sure what that was about. Assuming it might have been teething, we'd sometimes give him ibuprofen and he'd sleep like a rock all night! Other than that, no real issues (knock on wood).

I can't believe they will be a year old in 3.5 weeks!!! :o

Hi Cynthia

Good to hear from you after a long time!

Faith is back on her regular schedule of feeding after a few days of denial.

Wondercat - are you there? Have you started your cycle yet? Good luck to you!

Anybody has interesting plans for the first birthday? Faith's is on November 27th on Thanksgiving weekend so that my family can make it. Very excited about it.

Hi everyone! I haven't been on here for awhile either. The twins are doing good. Piper will walk along the couch but not take steps on her own yet. Ren is just crawling. They will be one tomorrow! We're not doing much. We're just having some family over for pizza and cake. And of course presents. As far as teething. They each cut 6 teeth when they were 8-9 months. They have 4 on top and 2 on bottom. I've been working with Piper on the sippy cup. She will drink from it but not a lot. She still likes her bottle but will not hold it. The one year old shots are next week. They might be switched to whole milk or have to wait another month. It gets confusing with preemies. Some things they go by actual age and other things by adjusted age.

Cynthia -Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Aww, happy birthday Ren & Piper!!!

Tara, the twins Birthday is on the 27th. Since it's right after Thanksgiving, we'll just have something small with family. Probably just cake and a few decorations...nothing big. I figured I'd go all out in the coming years when they are old enough to know what's going on and able to remember it!

Hello Ladies,

How are you all doing? Everybody has been very quiet lately. Busy with birthday parties? How are all the little ones?
Faith is doing good. Her birthday is next Tuesday, but we had a small party for her on Thanksgiving weekend since the whole family was with us. She has 4 teeth now. She is taking steps, but only 3 or 4 steps. After that she falls down. And she says words like "mamma", "light", "No", "Come" etc. Blabbers non stop!!!

Looking forward to hearing from everybody. I missed being in touch.

Tara.
