I am scheduled to have my transfer tomorrow after lunch. I am extremely constipated.(and miserably uncomfortable) The nurse told me to try colace and miralax. I did colace the past 2 days and took Miralax this morning. I also tried glycerin suppository. I am terrified of impaction. Should I try an enema or other type of suppository to clear my bowels before transfer or just keep taking stool softeners??
Salane – I experienced the same thing right before my first transfer and I had to take a laxative like Phillips Milk Magnesia. I chose this brand because it is important to take something with a stimulant if you are having a transfer tomorrow because you don’t want any cramping following the transfer to expel the embryo. I would definitely run it past your RE first before taking anything. But, my RE said that it was alright for me.
Good luck tomorrow and I hope that you get some relief soon!
hi salane
if you can stomach it, warm prune juice works miracles; for me it works better than medications. i'll have about 2 mugs full, it tastes awful but it relieves quickly, and without the cramping i often get from medications.
best of luck for ET tomorrow.
