Progesterone

Post by Sunshine1576 »

Hi everyone,
I joined a little over a week ago and tomorrow will mark one week from our embryo transfer. One of the regimen the doctor has me on is taking the progesterone suppositories every 8 hours vaginally. It's messy, but I have stocked up on panty liners! My little concern is down there, it's getting irritiated and a little sore. This is like a tampon, but I go in slower. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe it could be a yeast infection b/c alot of the progesterone like I mentioned leaks out and saturates the panty liner (sorry if this is too much info. and I grossed anyone out.) I am very open-minded and sometimes tell it like it is!

Also I have only been taking showers, having no sex and no caffeine, including chocolate. We lost our first baby last April when we got back from a weekend trip to Chicago. I often wonder if our flight with the abrupt landing (that made my own heart jump) had anything to do with our miscarriage. We all want a reason, but ALL we DO know is next time this is what we are going to do differently.

Hi Sunshine,

I had really bad irritation in my last cycle and even asked for a pap to test for yeast, but it was just dry form the progesterone. I'm definitely irritated and itchy this time, but I've been told that it's normal. If it gets too bad, I would ask your RE.

Good luck in your 2ww! My beta's tomorrow!!

I also hated the constant white, gooey discharge from the progesterone suppositories. The ones I put in right before bed tended to completely be absorbed, but anything I did during the day leaked out! Ugh... but sometimes the mess is better than the pain of the PIO (I've done both - I can't decide which is worse!)

Good luck to both of you! I'm jealous that you are both PUPO!

Sunshine- I was on progesterone every 8 hrs too. You are right it is icky! After pantyliners for a bit I upgraded to a thin pad. I found it was a bit less messy. Congrats on being PUPO! I hope you get a BFP when you go in for your beta. When I was on progesterone we didn't have sex either. We tried once and it ended up hurting so bad. Almost like the melting suppositories were scratching me. Make any sense?
I'm sorry about your recent loss. I have to say though that I would wager my life that a hard landing had nothing to do with it. I'm a flight attendant and have been flying all through my pregnancy so far. In turbulence, standing for 5 hrs at a time, REALLY hard landings, pressure changes, etc. Flying is safe for you and your baby as long as you don't crash. OK OK bad joke...but really. I was in a plane 3 days post transfer. I agree that we all want a reason as to why we suffer a loss but sometimes there just isn't one. :(
Please take care and if you have to get on a plane this holiday season don't worry. Just drink LOTS of water! :)

The suppositories are known for irritation. To be honest, I find it crazy to introduce anything into the vagina when you are pregnant. Just asking for some kind of infection...which can be a big problem sometimes. For me, it ended my pregnancy at 23 weeks (combined with a vaginal cerclage and cervix issues). I don't mean to scare you...I just don't want to see you put yourself at risk. I don't know how pregnant you are, but honestly, I'd do the shots.

Hey--
I find when it comes to those during the day it only gets leaky when it is time for the next one... its wierd.
The night and morning ones get mostly absorbed, its the day time one that gets oozy... My nurse recommended lying down for 20 minutes after you put it in to help ease the oozy fun stuff.
However, althought sometimes the ooze freaks me out because it feels like my period may have just started and then head to the bathroom to find white stuff and its kind of a relief..
Tomorrow marks the last day of my wait, I was originally scheduled for blood test tomorrow but had to change because of business meeting in Texas. Now my late day meetings were rescheduled for breakfast so I'm hoping to hop an flight early rush to the dr. office to get my blood test tomorrow as originally planned vs. having to wait one more day.

Cross your fingers that i make the early flight, that I get to the dr. on time, that they'll take me and that they can give me results and that they'll be the results we're wanting to hear!

This 2ww is a killer!
