Well, I didn't expect the news I got. I expected a negative but hoped for a positive but what I basically got was a you're kinda pregnant but not really. She said my beta was 2.5 and the cut-off is 3. Why couldn't she just give me the I'm sorry, it was negative speech and let me go about my business? Instead she wants me to continue my meds until Friday and do another HPT and go from there. If I were pregnant, I would be 4 wks today and from what I found online my number should be between 3 -426. Ugh nothing like false hope.  So do I go ahead and face reality or hold on to this tiny shred of hope?

Hi all,
Just a quick post. Still in donor limbo. Not much to report on that. Got the cost estimate more than I want to spend but it'll be worth it. I've been crazy busy again, still trying to catch up after the big wedding I did last week. House was a mess and Dh tried but couldn't keep up. I'll post more later.

Lou- I'm sooo sorry about your headaches! I get migraines right before or on the 1st day of my period. They are horrible but I don't puke. Thank God for small favors. They still suck!!! I'm on Treximet but I know you can't take that because I know you're preggers! I hope you feel better soon!

I'll check back tomorrow. Things are starting to calm down and my next wedding isn't till the 30th so I'll have a little more time for my girls here. I'm thinking of you all!
Love hugs and baby dust to all,

Hi all! I've been doing A LOT of Googling, since this is my first IVF, and found this forum. :D

It's so nice to hear about everyone else's stories and see that I'm not the only one... My DH and I are pretty much keeping this process to ourselves and he knows less than I do! So, needless to say, I'm so happy to have found a group of women going through the same experience...

I'm borderline obsessing about the process.

I just had my retrieval yesterday morning, and can barely walk. :( Hoping that's to be expected... We got good news this morning. Of the 14 eggs retrieved, 13 were ISCI-ed (due to low motility), and 12 fertilized. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but honestly have no idea what to expect or what's "normal". Because of the number, we are scheduled for a 5 day transfer on Sunday. Is that better than a 3 day? I've heard yes and no...

Like I said, OBSESSING. So, ANY words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated...
~Stephanie

baby_blu73 - Welcome to our group and congrats on your ER yesterday!! Sounds like you have a lot that fertilized so that's wonderful. And that's great news on a 5dt so we'll be wishing you luck on Sunday.

Brandy - UGH, I don't think that could be more frustrating!!! More limbo, more waiting - I really feel for you! I'm definitely the realistic type, but with all we go through during this process it feels like we have to keep hope going until we know for sure that there's no reason for it. Hopefully Friday will bring better news!

Margi - YAY for starting stims today!! Hope your appt this morning goes well and you get the go-ahead. My HSG was not painful at all, but at that time (oh, the days when I still had tubes) they were both open. I've heard others say it was quite painful, particularly if there is a blockage. So will be sending you positive thoughts for that day.

Osi - How'd your SnS go today??

Nancy - Can't wait to hear how my cycle buddy's SnS goes tomorrow morning!!

Lauren319 & Krys - Can't wait to hear great results from your betas tomorrow!!

AFM - SnS went well again. Doc called out measurements on 3 follies and then said there are a number of others under 10 that may still mature. So we're just going to keep on stimming the shit out of my one ovary and mature as many as we can. Grow follies grow!! I'll stay on my 6 vials of Bravelle & 2 vials of Menopur tonight, then tomorrow switch to 6 & 3 plus start my antagonist injection (Ganirelix). Of course this means that by tomorrow I'll have burned through my 9 boxes of Bravelle. So giant shout out to my kind nurse this morning. When she found out we were 100% self pay she found a couple boxes of Bravelle that had been donated (that donation saved us over $400) and told me to call her directly if I get low on anything else so she can see if they have what I need. Thank goodness for nurse Karlene!!! Next SnS is Saturday at 7:30am, can't wait!!! :D

Hi! My ER went well yesterday. That Versed is delicious stuff, still, the doc was so rough with the speculum! 9 eggs retrieved; I hear back from the embryologist today about the quality. We're tentatively looking at a transfer on Saturday.

Freckles, I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels bloated and lots of pressure on the day after ER. I expected to feel better today, but I can't walk without pain, either. I'm laying here in bed with my dogs and a heating pad, hoping for the best.

The PIO shot last night was no big deal at all. They may get worse as time goes on, but I was really pleasantly surprised.

It's such a waiting game, this TTC stuff. I'm cultivating patience, which is a good thing.

Freckles(Kaylie) -- You're welcome. Try not to think too much about it. I know it's hard. My first IVF I transferred 2 perfect 3 day embies and it was BFN. I had a third embie which made it to 5 days and was frozen. My next FET with that one embie was also BFN. My next IVF I transferred 3 embies on day 3. Two were "good" and one was "ok". I got a BFP! But miscarried at 12 weeks (chromosome issue). Then I did another fresh IVF, with my best results yet and had 6 embies going strong on day 3. So I was told to come in day 5 for ET. I transferred 2 high quality blasts and felt that it HAD to work. Well, it was BFN. Two others were good enough to be frozen and I had an FET with those on 10/7. RE was quite optimistic about the FET. My beta is Saturday. So what I'm saying is, you never know which embie will work. They say FET's are less successful but my boss' daughter-in-law had 3 fresh IVF's which were BFN and her first FET transferred two and now has boy/girl twins. Go figure. Hang in there. It's out of your hands now. Think positive. I really think that helps. Oh, and try acupuncture. Studies show it can increase success rates by 16% when done before and after embryo transfer.

Margi -- Oh, I hear ya hun. I'm all self pay too and can probably only afford one more cycle if need. Which scares the heck out of me. I'm so glad your RE is optimistic about IUI. I know plenty of success stories with it. I'll be cheering you on all the way. You obviously are fertile by your track record. This one's gonna STICK! Thanks for the headache advice. I laid on the bed with an ice pack on my head most of the evening. I couldn't even eat because it hurt too bad to chew. Weird. I'm having acupuncture tonight in hopes of relief. The headache is tolerable now, but not gone. I did call RE because I knew Excedrin would help. He told me I could take ONE tablet. I took it and it did help. But the headache came back and I knew I couldn't take any more. :(

Kynlee -- How's the 2ww going for you? Hopefully you aren't riddled with headaches like me. I've never had this before in the 2ww. Not even with my BFP. No I"m thinking it's a weather change headache. I dunno. I did use an ice pack last evening to help.

BLang -- I'm sorry for your low beta. I'm no expert but I haven't heard of one that low making it. But there must be a reason they are having you stay on meds and come back. I will pray that you are the exception.

Chili -- Sorry you're in "donor limbo". I hope you get some answers soon. I normally take Relpax for my migraines but haven't really had one that required it in over a year. I would take it now if I knew I could though. Headache still sucks.

baby-blu -- 12 fert is great! Congrats! 5 day blastocyst transfers do have higher success rates than 3 day but it's only because growing until day three allows the embryologist to weed out the weaker ones, thus the strongest get transferred. Sounds like you'll have a lot to choose from, that's great news!

Ronda -- LOL... I *almost* POAS this morning. Only because if it was BFN I thought I could take Excedrin til my hearts content for this headache. Then I thought, what if it's a false BFN and I do damage with the Excedrin. So I changed my mind and decided I can wait until Saturday. So now you have to too! Thanks for the stalking!

klinger -- Glad stims are going well! Looking forward to your updates. Your one lil ovary is doing good!

Meinemo -- Congrats on 9 eggs! Can't wait for your fert report.

AFM -- WTH? I STILL have this awful headache. Sometimes it's so bad I want to cry. Currently it's there but tolerable. I wish I knew what was causing it. Weather? PIO? Early pregnancy? I dunno. I'm going for acupuncture this evening so maybe he can cure it? 2 more days til beta. Almost POAS this AM only because if it was negative, I would take Excedrin. But changed my mind. I can wait. Other than the headache, I feel normal.

Lou-I just want to say that your sypmtoms are very promising!!! With my BFP I had virtually no symptoms but I got this horrible sinus infection. I think when we get pregnant our immune system gets low so I'm crossing everything this is a great sign!!!! Can you have a small cup of coffee to help the migraines? That is what my DR told me to do when I got them!!! xoxo

Blang- I'm sorry for your low beta but hopefully friday's test will show improvement.

Lou- So sorry about you headaches they should awful. Maybe call back and ask him about switching between the Excedrine and extra strength tylenol?

Margi- You can check with your RE but mine suggested I take Midol before my HSG to lessen the pain. It really wasnt too bad and is very quick. I'm sure you will handle it just fine.

klinger- Sounds like your ovary is doing great. I think its awesome that your nurse was willing to give you donated meds. I've got my fingers crossed for lots of eggies for you!

Lauren319- How are you feeling? I cant wait to hear what your second beta is tomorrow. Then you have an u/s in a week? Are they looking for just gestational sacs? Do you go back a week after that for heartbeats?

Franny- If you are out there I just wanted to let you know that I'm hoping Barry is feeling much better by now. We miss you!

blang - yickes so sorry hun for being in beta limbo, big hugs
klinger - grow follies and yeay for free meds!
Lou - I am with you as tempting as it is to POAS I think it is better to know, I got a false negative before but it was ok cause I already had my beta. Also you want to hear that number and see it go up, I think this time even if I get a good first beta, I am with Tess and won't relax until I see it grow and grow and get the US! But then again my RE doesn't test until 14 days later so I might who knows!!! ;) not that I will be in crazytown or anything!
meinemo - you will be PUPO soon!
babyblu - welcome to the obssessive compulive IVF friendly board, we are all on the same boat!!!
Chili have you picked a donor yet? I wrote on a post way back, did you consider your daughter?
Margi - HSG is no big deal little cramping but nothing bad a t all take a motrin 30 min before.
Freckels remember it only takes one good one!!!

AFM - oh just waiting and living vicariously through the girls who get to stab themselves with huge needles and watch the follies grow, going crazy with the girls in the 2WW and I need more BFPs to celebrate! Will someone POAS already? ;) Other than that my mom is driving me insane while staying with us  I have a pap smear today so at least I will pretend I am getting molested for a good reason ;) Alright gorgeous and strong chicas have a great day!!!

Amanda, you are doing great and that's awesome about the donated meds...anything sure helps! I've got everything crossed for you. Keep up the good work!!!

AFM- Limbo-land sucks ass but what can ya do LOL. I just tell myself that surely they have seen numbers this low before and they wouldn't keep me hanging on if there wasn't some chance, right? I wonder if my previous beta's from my IUI's were always zero, because she never said anything like this before. You all know I googled the hell of this and I did manage to find a story where this persons first beta was 3 and she went on to have a normal healthy pregnancy. I guess anything is possible. :?

Klinger/all

Just got my call from the RE to say that I should not take my injection tonight but have to go back again tomorrow for a blood test and scan. When I asked why, she Said that my hormones levels are high enough not to have one. Do you think I may be getting mild ohss. I do look about 4 months preg?

Meinemo - 7 out of 9 fertilized is great! Woo-hoo!!! :D

Brandy - Thanks!! And I'm so sorry your in limbo-land. It really does suck ass!! But I'm hoping you get good news on Friday.

Osi - I don't know, but I'm sure someone will chime in. I hope it's not OHSS starting for you. From what I've heard it ranges from pretty uncomfortable to downright dangerous so just be careful and drink gatorade/eat salty foods just in case. Glad they're having you go back in for another scan tomorrow. Hopefully you'll be ready for ER soon!

rio & teresa - I know, I was so happy about the free meds...a little break from opening up the wallet was greatly appreciated!!

lou - I'm so sorry you're battling these headaches! I know what you mean about wanting your Excedrin. Excedrin Migraine is so wonderful but I've been steering clear of them during my stims...Tylenol just doesn't cut it, but will have to do.
