Back from Holiday

Post by Helen Reid »

Hi all

We got back early Friday morning from our hols and we had a fantastic time.
I am just getting caught up with all the news and would just like to congratulate all those who have had a +ve while i have been away and all those who have had their scans.

I had a great time on holiday and have come back with not to bad a tan but mainly on my front. I could really only sit or lie on my sides, lying back just made me feel sick. Baby really seemed to enjoy it he moved all the time and has not stopped much since.
Heartburn was fine until the last night and has been really bad ever since. I was given by the clinic some cheap rubbish alternative to gaviscon which did not help, my dh had to go and buy me some proper stuff.

A quick question does anyone else have a beard. My dh says i will have to shave soon, it starts just below my ear and goes right under my chin to about my collar bone and round to the other ear. The hair is fair but you can grab it in some places. I had some when going through the tmt but it went away but it was dark.
My dh says my bump is huge and keeps asking if there is only one in there, other people say i am small for 7 months (tommorrow). I am starting to get a bit bump concious (taking over from Tracey).
I am really tired today so i am going for a sleep (i think i got to used to an afternoon nap on holiday).

Take care

Helen

Glad you had a good holiday, you brought the nice weather back I see.

I haven't got a beard but instead of a brown line down my middle I have grown hairy instead!!

I know what you mean about being bump conscious, one person says I'm huge another says I didn't realise you were pregnant and you're really small. The midwife says I am fine for my dates so I don't care!!

Are you off shopping for more baby stuff soon? We have brought our pram now and a few small bits and bobs, it's really exciting now.

Take Care

Helen

How nice to see you back and thanks for bringing the nice weather back with you.
As for beard - no sorry can't join in thankfully. I was much hairier last time with Oliver than this time - they say that you are hairier with boys for some reason!!!!

As for heartburn - don't even go there with it - have been suffering for weeks now and last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't buy it get it on prescription from the GP and you don't pay!!! I am on the dispensing size bottles that seem only to come in Aniseed - asked for peppermint but they don't get it! HAve to guzzle it every night! Don't worry about what some say about the bump - says me
Everyone thinks I am huge - just have this bump stuck on the front but am very small frame everywhere else apart from my thighs which seem to be taking over the world
Lisa - good on you for the shopping - you sound like you are enjoying the pg - I know it's always a worry!
Love

Hi Helen,

Glad you enjoyed your holiday.

Happy to report I don't have any whiskers but have got a very hairy belly!!

I know what you mean about bump size worry. Everyone keeps telling me I am gi-normous! Each time I have seen my midwife I am measuring 2 and a half weeks bigger than my dates but she doesn't seem worried so I am trying not to be either.
One of the girls in work asked me the other day not to give birth while she is on holiday for the next fortnight, she was really shocked when I told her I am only 26 weeks and still have three months to go!!

I have killer heartburn as well and this last week my feet have started to resemble pigs trotters!! its hard to see where my ankles end and feet begin!

Daniel is really active now, not so much during the day but he kicks in with vengeance after 7.00 in the evening. He thinks its great fun to start jigging about at 2.00 in the morning and has actually woken me up a couple of times.

Oh the joys of pregnancy eh! and I wouldn't swap it for the world!!!!

Lots of love to all

Hi Helen

pleased you had a good holiday and everything is fine.
I have become a bit wolf like!! my hair line has spread from my hair line to my eyebrows on both sides, very attractive  It must be growing there instead of on my chin. My tummy is also quite hairy but blonder/finer hairs. Why does this happen???? I hope the Wolf disappears after birth

Take care

hi helen, welcome back.

i'm tanned on the front only too, but at least my bump looks healthy!

what have you started... i've been looking for hair on my body since reading your post. i've just noticed my belly has a fine fair hair coat on! that i hadn't noticed before. i'd been too busy searching for stretchmarks and was obviously just combing them to one side.

Hi

Had my midwife appt on Tuesday and asked about the bump thing and she the baby is a good size and the bump is fine, because i am small it has no where else to go really except out. I forgot about the hair thing though as i had a list to ask about as it was.
I do have a hairy belly as well especially at the bottom but i shaved it when i was young and is rather dark but the rest is light.
When i went to get waxed before my holidays the lady that does it asked if i had asked my midwife first as they don,t like to wax the bikini line especially as it is near that region in the last three months and the first three well i just said yes and had to sign my card to say i had got the all clear from the midwife. Never heard that before.

Heartburn is really bad i just drink the gaviscon now don,t bother with a spoon. I have signed up to this thing is the chemist where you get a whole load of things free because i am exempted the now but she prefers you to get a prescription so the midwife knows what you are taking but if desparate they will give you it. Midwife says when i phone for a repeat prescription to ask for gaviscon and not the cheap rubbish, which i now keep in the car for emergencies.
Going to pick up cradle from my friends today. Nursery gets started (i feel as if i have been starting it for months) next Friday.

Hi Helen

Just got back from the docs with my latest hugest bottle of GAviscon - I don't bother with a spoon - just glug it - dh laughs and says I don't know how much I am guzzling - I do - enough to try and stop the blooming heartburn

Nothing to report on the hairy front either - have been scrutinizing but pleased to say all fine - enough with the sticky out belly button

As for the waxing - how odd??? Tried to keep on top of it all with a shaver and a mirror but not the best idea as a complete mess and now itchy too!

Great in't it???

Hi Helen,
I am glad you started on the hair subject as I've had more hair on my belly and have been wondering about this, a nurse told me that it's normal as all the hormones are produced in greater amounts (also one of my twins is a boy). But I am very glad to read others have it too, I 've been quite uncomfortable with it, but am sure it will disappear once we've given birth. The joys of pregnancy indeed - would not change it for the world, but wish someone had told me all these things when I was so dead miserable when I could not conceive, might have been a bit of a consolation! and the heartburn and the constipation - I don't even want to start about it!
love,
juliana
