I am so glad I found this web site! I am finally going in for my first IVF consultation next week. I am excited and nervous , anyone have any good questions (from experience) I should ask?
Hi Tia. I too have my first IVF appointment on next week. I'm apart of the "newbie" forum under the introduction section if you'd like to join us. The ladies there have been really helpful. This is the first for everyone there pretty much so they understand our anxiety and ignorance about the process. I'm still learning the lingo. Hope to see you there!!!
I will take you up on that offer, im soooooo nervous but excited too! My IVF appointment is with a guy named Dr. Jeff Rakoff, anyone been to him, is he one of the better doctors? I am in the San Diego area if anyone has any other suggestions or warnings. My appointment is Thursday next week. His site (this is all I have to go from, along with a great phone call) San Diego fertility clinic was informative, but I still am looking for validation that he is good from anyone that has seen or heard from him.
Hi ladies, I just had my consult and have chosen Mini IVF and should start BCP around the 29th. I am very excited to get things moving! It seems like the days are passing so slow now b/c I am ready to do something! This is my first time doing IVF and although my RE has gone oner everything with me a couple of times I still feel a little lost. Does anyone else feel like that? Hopefully we'll have a reterival/transfer in late Nov. ! Lots of luck and prayers being sent out to you all!
Floraburst29- How was your appointment? Do you feel comfortable with your doctor? Did he give you a plan? Hopefully everything is working out well for you. Keep us posted.
Easley4-How are you? Are the BCP's working out well for you? I must be kinda nice to know that you've started working towards the ultimate goal. That's super cool to know when you'll have your retrieval. What does your mini-IVF entail really? I also have a question about your blocked tube situation. How does that work really? I just had a HSG done this morning and my RE said that both of my tubes are blocked. I won't get a chance to see her until the week of Thanksgiving so I don't know what that means for my chances of having a baby. I'm starting to research on google and see what I can come up with but I do know that I'd prefer to avoid any surgeries if possible. If this is too personal for you to discuss, I understand.
And there are a couple of us on the NEWBIE board still if you ladies are interested. We're still sorta creeping our way through this process for the first time.
@ justsolost~ My right tube is totally blocked and my left tube is fiffy at best, so my chances of getting pregnant naturally is VERY slim. Because I have proven fertillity with my 2 girls mini IVF works for me. The drug doses are a little lower with mini so you don't have the huge production of eggs like with tradional IVF. Well most women don't, some still do . Most will have about fewer. The cost at RE office is less too. The total w/ meds will be about $6800-$7000. They have a 2 yr payment plan there too which is nice. I LOVE my RE, he's super informative and very successful at mini/tradional IVF. Let me know if I can give you anymore info, I'm happy to!

Hi guys, I am new on this site
A week ago I had a surgery on both my ovaries (nothing to bad, well, I had a dermoid cyst and a normal cyst on the other) while doing that they checked my tubes and unfort they are completely blocked! Both of them! So I have been told that IVF is prob the only way forward and since we have been trying to get preggie for over a year I am keen to get the ball rolling. I am seeing my private doc next week for a follow up for previous surgery and talk re options for pregnancy. Can someone tell me how long it takes from starting tablets to create more eggs till insemination? Do you go for an appointment and get given tablets there and then? or are there test before hand?
Also reading below, some of you are talking about MINI IFV??? what is different between mini IVF and normal IFV?
