Hi - new to this with lots of questions!

Post by lt81 »

Hi

My name is Laura and my husband and I have been TTC for almost 3 years. Clinic had initially thought it was non-specific but I paid privately for an AMH test (there is a history of premature menopause in my family). My score was 7  (I am only 29) and they say if we'd been a year later getting help we may be too late. Husbands test results slightly under average, so they recommend we go for ICSI and do it NOW!

Before the clinic decided we should go for ICSI I started getting reflexology treatments for general health. Has anyone had reflexology during IVF? Did you stop after ET?

My reflexologist also says I am full of toxins and that I could do with doing a detox, so was thinking about starting that now. Anyone else got any detox experience with IVF? How long did you do it for?

I'm not sure when my cycle will start, we have our planning session in the morning but I am currently on day 22 of my natural cycle, so guess we could start in a week or so. Only tests needed before we start are HIV/Hep. I've already done all the others as part of the investigations.

I'm dreading injecting myself - one of my colleagues and his wife had IVF privately a few years ago and they got a machine to do the injections with rather than standard syringes - anyone know if those are available on the NHS or can you pay to upgrade? Pushing a button sounds like a better option than sticking a needle in manually!
Me - 29 AMH level of 7
First timer
Short antagonist cycle started 30/08/10
5 eggs = 3 embryos
2 embryos transferred

Welcome! And best of luck to you in your upcoming endeavors....actually, the injections really aren't that bad. I have had my dh do them (it is the LEAST he could do) and found that they really aren't that bad. The only ones that really hurt are the IM shots--and I only had them with the first clinic for progesterone after ET. Wowee! Those smart...but the clinic we have gone with for our 2nd and now 3rd IVF try uses progesterone suppositories. Messy--but no pain.

I am sure you will do great however you give the injections, but you should seriously consider letting your partner do them.

Best of luck to you!

thanks for your suggestion - we picked up our shopping bag full of drugs! We have progesterone suppositories too, but wasn't sure if the hCG injection was IM. Should start at the end of August.
