Blood Levels for Postive PG!??

Post by michelle30 »

Hi i'm looking for some advice here. This isn't the first time on this site, was here 3 years ago when Nicky J was pg with her twins which i've just read are now 2!!! and with Lucy33, tee and alice and Loonpants. (congrats by the way Loonpants great news!)

Anyway after doing another 2 ivfs, Today with my 4th i got a postive blood test :D , just when we though it was never going to happen!!'! and we are still walking around on egg shells and bit numb about the whole thing. Anyway....

I had 2, 7 cells grade 2's put back in on Friday 7th of May, therefore only 10 days ago. Since they went back in I convinced myself af was coming but i had a blood test today and postivie pg hormones were shown in blood test.

The count was only 39, the hosptial said they'd like to see them above 50 so I have to go back next week.
What i'm needed to know is did anyone have low blood counts, and does it really mean anything? the hospital said as far as they are concerned it was a postive test result so not to worry too much just take it easy just like my 2ww.
but I'm just starting to get concerned about the blood levels, any advice greatly welcome.
thanks.

CONGRATULATIONS!!
Just to say that i know lots of people who have had even lower numbers than that and its all gone on to be fine. Don't worry!! Easier said I know!
The important thing is that they go up - the absolute number is not that important - if you look HCG up on the internet you'll see that for each stage of pregnancy the range of "correct" HCG levels is MASSIVE. It should go up at a minimum of 66% every 2 days or so.
Take care and enjoy!!

hi michelle

so sorry i cant help on blood count levels, but you have tested early so surely the reading will be on the lower side. i do know that they will increase hugely day by day.

do what the hospital said... take it easy (such an easy thing to say i know)

AND, Congratulations!!!

Hi Michelle,

So great to see you back...and I'll echo the sentiments...don't worry It is still very early and as long as the numbers go up that is all that counts. Plus the 7th is the twins actual birthday so got a feeling it was a lucky day!!!

I will be keeping everything crossed for you and it is great to see one of the old crowd again.....Right...eyes crossed, fingers crossed, legs crossed....

Love
Nicky

I'm still a bit of a pesimist about the whole thing.
I think i'm going to call my hosptial and see if i can have another blood test as next tuesday is a hell of a long time to wait
It was bit early - so caz working your % rule out i should be about 66ish on thursday which will be 13 days after they went back in whcih will be above the 50 the hopstial want to see.

I hardly slept last night - despite knowing ihave a +, i'm still convinced af is going to come and that's it all over before it's even really began.

I do have some symptons though, sore breast, very veiny breast and the start of a lower ache in my back which does seem a bit early or could be signs that i'm hyperstimulated a bit still?!

Any others of you that know anything about blood levels please help as i'm going a bit mad here worrying about it all :?
thanks.

Hi - just to let you know I was a low number for my positive result (mine was 75). The clinic said anything over 25 was a positive and my repeated test had to have doubled within 4 days (I got my results on Friday and re-tested on Monday). The next test came back @487!! I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with one baby - so I can only repeat what the other girls said "try and relax, enjoy your positive result and CONGRATULATIONS"!!!

hi again - the above - will tell you a bit about what the normal ranges are and when. Looks like the average at 14 days post LH surge (which I think -ec day, is that right??) is 48 - so I reckon you're there or there abouts!
All the best!

although i've posted another message as well to find this out.
I started bleeding on wednesday night a very small amount but enought to be worried it then stopped for 12 hours and then i had another clot. :(

after getting myself really upset an worked up and pissed!! i went to the hosptial today and although i had another small bleed :D
my hgc levels are now over 170 which is normal!
so anywya bled and then gone onto have normal pg????
hosptial said 1 in 20 pg's can bleed - like an implantation bleed but
went onto have postive outcome!

so anymore advice greatly welcome - the hosptial said this could be a little miracle happending as the hormone levels are just a bit above what they would expect at this stage and they are now very optimistic for me
talk about rollercoaster!!

Michelle

What a nightmare!!! First glad the HCG levels are where they should be. Can't help ontthe bleeding but loads can. IT can be any number of reasons as they probably told you from implantation, to one sac coming away (ie twins but only one develop) twins and you bleed more (but prob not in this case as not a really high HCG jsut normal) body throwing its toys out of its pram, some tiny problem with a cyst or the sac etc etc - you hang in there as bleeding is not a sign you are losing your precious cargo
Good luck

Hi Michelle

You must have been so worried. Glad things are settling down.

I had 3 massive bleeds during my pregnancy which scared the living daylights out of me at the time. One at 7 weeks one at 16 weeks and one at 22 weeks. Non of my bleeds had anything to do with my prem labour at 24 weeks, that was down to the amnio I'm afraid :(

When I had my bleeds and some huge clots the doctors said it was one of those things. I think sometimes you want proper answers but some people do bleed and others don't. There have been quite a few girls on here who have had bleeds and gone on to have healthy babies. Bubblymichelle bled quite a bit and her son Alex is fine.

I hope this helps?

staying calmer

Post by michelle30 »

thanks for your replies girls.
i really just don't know what to think. The bleeding has calmed down now - only one clot so far today and it wasn't fresh blood.
so i'm starting to feel a bit more postive - but god what a rollercoaster this feels like.
The messages I have read have made me feel a bit more optimistic about the whole thing. i've been trying to work out hgc levels and what they mean and my levels etc but it's doing my head in.
I don't have to go back to the hosp next thursday - so i'll be hanging on until then, but trying to stay calm.
thanks again

Michelle. As so many have said bleeding is really common and the fact that your HCG levels have gone up is VERY VERY good. Put your feet up and try to relax - ha ha!!
take care

Hi Michelle,

Hope you are feeling better. If it's any help, I bled lots during the first 14 weeks and twice again afterwards. The bleeding was brown, reds, heavy at times, clots along with sharp pains etc. I know it's a worry, but try and stay positive and relax as much as you can.

Bleeding could be anything and just think of the changes that's happening to you. Implantation bleeding is very common and it can last a while. I had a haematoma where the sac pulled away slightly causing bruising. Thins it seems is very common, but a lot of women reabsorb the blood back into their body naturally whilst for others it just has to come out. Bleeding can also be caused by cervical abrasions - also common as well as twins which make the womb more 'gripey' sometimes.

Anyway, take it easy

hpt?

Post by michelle30 »

Thanks for the messages.,
i haven't bled since friday now and yesterday (sunday) i did a hpt which was +.
so i called the hosp today ust to see with them and the nurse was sooo negative, saying my blood levels could have gone up between tues and fri even if was having a v early mc. i told her about the + on sun with a hpt and she said oh they are just very senstive and you could still have some hgc levels in your blood even if you have mc'ing when you were bleeding on Friday.
After feeling very postive and hopeful about the whole thing i'm now so low and fed up with the whole thing i jst want it to be over - i think that this is worse than the 2 ww.
If anyone is out there that can answer this - can it be possible to get rising blood levels a +hpt and then be told a couple of days later it could be wrong and you could have left over hgc in the blood making the test a +?
any answers greatly received - I'm going out of my mind!
