Anyone in there mid 40s and ttc?

Post by henriettacarranza »

Hi, my name is Henrietta and I an 45. I will be doing my first IUI in October. Doctor had me do blood work and my FSH is 4.7, LH is 3.2 and my Estradiol is 42. He says those are normal numbers. No I am doing the Clomiphene Challenge Test and I am on day 8 of that then on Thursday I go in and do the same test to see how I responded to Clomid. Doctor says we are doing one well timed IUI in October and if it is negative then we will move on to IVF. I am doing acupuncture with TCM and on a diet that is supposed to nourish my eggs. We shall see. I am hoping this will keep me positive. I need to be around people trying to accomplish the same as me.

I am! I'll be 44 in October and have one child, almost 5 years old. I conceived him naturally and then had problems ever since. I've tried two IUIs and three IVFs and am now back in the middle of the 2ww for my third IUI cycle. I got pregnant 4 of the 5 previously assisted cycles, but miscarried. I have a chromosomal imbalance that I pass on in my eggs, so it isn't surprising I miscarry so often. This current IUI cycle was the first I took injectables. I had between 2-4 mature eggs at IUI. Hoping to see a BFP soon!

I am! I have had 3 failed IVFs--well 1st was ectopic and the second BFN and the third a miscarriage...

Due to $$ constraints, we are moving on to try IUI. Our insurance coverage is depleted :(

My RE was completed negative telling me we would have a zero percent chance of success since I am over 42, but I don't believe it. I have responded well--in fact overstimulated the first time. I am consulting with a new doctor in a few weeks and am hoping they will be willing to go with IUI. My DH doesn't have any sperm issues.

I am trying to be positive as I move through this process, but it is indeed difficult.

Looking to connect to others going through this.

Yep... 45 here. We have been trying since I was 39. Did IVF& ICSI since my hubby has antibodies. They won't even look at us again for IVF ICSI because the first time I only produced 6 eggs, and only 4 became good enough embryos to implant.... none of which took. We have tried everything under the sun, and I am losing faith. They don't know why I produced such few eggs, but they were blunt in saying that I should just move on to egg donation. I'm just wondering if I should try IUI first with donor sperm... as it is known that my hubby has affected sperm. Would someone else's sperm be able to help us have a wee one? Anybody out there have a hubby with antibodies? Doc says I'm too old and my eggs are too old, and so refuses to try IVF again... my options and funds are running out.

Anyone get pregnant yet. I took a little leave to get my body healthy. I did a clean 4 months ago then started taking DHEA, Royal Jelly, Maca, L-Arganin and CO-Q10 to make my eggs healthy. I am planning on an IUI+Injectables in January. Any one have any advise as to any special protocol that they have had?

Yes indeed!! I am now at home with my twins conceived with IVF with my own eggs.

Sounds like you took a lot of the same supplements that I took....and 4 months sounds perfect! :D I did a few rounds of IUI w/ injectibles, however I only had one tube at the time which put me at a significant disadvantage.

I used Gonal-F plus Menopur. I really think the added Menopur really helped (we also used it in my successful IVF cycle).

I would also push strongly for them to let you have more follies than they do traditionally given your age. I had to really fight for this because of the intense fear of multiples....but at our age, we need as many eggs to be available as possible. 5 was the most I was able to have "mature" sized. I really think it can work if they let you stimulate enough eggs.

And, have an HSG....I almost forgot. It checks to make sure that your tubes are open and clear, but it also is associated with a higher fertilization rate in the months after it.

That, plus Menopur!! Best of luck to you!!! Let us know how it turns out for you. :D :D
