HOLY CRAP LADIES - THEY WERE WRONG!!! ITS A BOY!!!!!!

They did a u/s to see size and position and there was a PENIS!! I 'm in shock!!!! The u/s tech kept going over the same spot over and over again, then excused herself to get the OB, so I got all worked up and then the OB came in and confirmed that right there on the screen was a penis and 2 testicles and I almost fell off the damn table!! I cant even type right now, my brain feels like its exploding, i asked them like 5 times "are you sure"? and they showed us the penis a few times but I cant believe it - even now its been like 45 minutes since I got this news. The whole OB office was in an uproar, and were so happy when I said that it wasnt them who did my anatomy scan it was a different office. After how many months of saying "girl"? Now its a boy????? Thank God Chris was there to keep me calm - he was almost in tears when the OB said that there was a mistake in my records. Now that I think of it, my anatomy scan was done on the day of hitting 18weeks and she did have a student in the room with us, so was teaching while talking and I do remember that the baby was like a flipping bumble bee jumping all over the place and they had a real hard time measuring. OMG - I have a pink EVERYTHING!!!! Chris wants to go to BRU right now and get BOY clothes and we'll need bigger clothes too as the BOY is weighing "in the high 8's" - UGHI almost forgot, the OB said theres no change in dilation or effacement still at 1cm & 50%, so he'll see me on the 1st of Nov and if nothing happens by then he will induce me the next day, unfortunately, he also said that if i dont respond to being induced then they have no choice and its a c section - im afraid of that! Hopefully this will sink in by the time we get back, I still cant believe it!!!!!! Post as soon as I get home - much love to you all on this crazy day - xoxo

Katie-holy shit!!! I'm in shock right now!! Could you imagine you didn't find out today and they announced that after giving birth?!?!? So what happens now? Back to Ryan?? Good thing you still have a few days to get things changed and ready!

Steph-that picture of Ethan and Angelina is absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to see the rest and I agree that I would untag the unflattering pics on fb!

Gi-great to hear from you! I can't believe you are under 20 days! I hear you on the weird sensation a kick in the ribs gives you!

Pa-sorry that your shower was stressful-whats up with your friend getting overly sensitive knowing you have pregnancy hormones surging through your body?!?

Babyluv-already measuring 39 weeks??? I can't wait to see your updated pic and hopefully you can catch a quick catnap today!

Everyone I missed I'm thinking of you all and love the updates:)

Katie OMGOSH!!!! WHAT???!!! I can't even believe it!! Thank goodness you found out now. Holy cow, what a shocker!! Could you imagine if you had HIM yesterday and had no clue? Darren and I still have our boy name in case that happens to us (but doubtful since I've had so many u/s). At any rate CONGRATS on your BOY!!!! unbelievable. Do you have a name? It took so long to get to Savannah!

Katie – OMG!!!!!!! I can’t believe it. I was just talking with DH about this very topic because several people have told me the same thing has happened to them or to someone that they know. I said what if we find out it is a boy … he said well they probably would have figured it out by now because we have had weekly u/s. I have to tell you that this is so exciting because now it is all new to you and Chris and you have a chance to be excited again! I am just thrilled that he is healthy and you are fine … that is the most important thing right?

Katie -- Oh gosh! A BOY!!!!! Wow... what a shocker. But at least he's healthy and there wasn't anything medically wrong. I'm sure you were really worried when they were doing your scan and ran out of the room. Funny thing is, I had a strong feeling you would have a boy in the beginning before your anatomy scan. Everything will work out fine.... you're going to have a GREAT story to tell in years to come! I keep checking here to see when Savannah... er.... now what's his name going to be?... will be making an entrance. So excited for you! BTW--- same thing happened to my friend. Told her she was having a girl and she had girl EVERYTHING. Pink room.... girls name.... girl clothes (all washed and ready to go)... and then they found out in the delivery room it was a BOY. That was two years ago and now it's a great story. But sure caused a shake up! He's a healthy and happy child and his mom couldn't be happier.

Kaite - WOW! All that work coming up with a girl name just to change it now to a boy name. lol Not to mention all that pink! Well, good thing is about all the walmart bought things, you can easily return it and get store credit! :D I hope not everything was opened?? Hope you had a great time shopping for boy clothes. I admit, it isn't as much fun as shopping for little girls, but you have the boy you wanted! Leave it to your child to be the one to prove me wrong on the genders. LOL My friend was told she was having a boy at 14 weeks and went and bought a bunch of boy things just to later at her anatomy scan be told she was having a girl. It happens more often then we think. I can't believe it though, you are over due... imagine if you had gone into labor already to hear the doctor say, "Congratulations, it's a boy!" Could you imagine the shock THEN? I guess it is better this way so you have some notice and can somewhat prepare. I'm still in shock, as I am sure you are too and much more so. lol No worries, all is well, paint is fairly easy to redo and many things can be returned or saved incase your next one is a girl?

Claudia - I thought about the 'remove tag' option on facebook, but they are of me and my brand new babies. Is that to vain and selfish or should I just suck it up and be happy no matter what I look like because it was such a happy moment? I am sure everyone has seen them by now anyway. I just need to post some updated pictures and redeem some self esteem. lol

Gi - Glad to see you back and that all is well. That was sweet of your mom to stop in and let us know you were ok. Alex is doing well. She is so nervous when it comes to helping take care of the twins, but she really wants to. I try to let her do a few things, but burping and changing diapers are not her strong point right now. lol Eventually she will get the hang of it I am sure. :) Hope your appt goes well, can't wait to hear any news you bring back from it. I wouldn't worry about the period type pain unless it comes every 3-5 minutes for more than an hour. lol Sometimes that is what contractions feel like. I would say in my experience with true contractions, it is a combination of period cramps and diarrhea cramps. Not everyone agrees though.

Babyluv - I am glad that I can somewhat pave the way for you, but I am sure you will find your own way of doing things once you have your little ones. Either way you look at it, breastfeeding two and even pumping for two is pretty hard. Everyone said that breastfeeding is always easier, even with twins but I dissagree. It is a great bonding experience, you really do feel closer to them, but if you are going to do it, I recommend not introducing a pacifier or bottle at all to help prevent damage to your nips. lol Yes, that woman grabbing my boob was a unique experience but at that point, what was I going to do? She already had my boob in her hand shoving it in my baby's face so what the hell right? I guess they are use to grabbing boobs. What a job! Anyway, I am glad your pain is gone but boo to the no sleep! Is there a happy medium?? Maybe tonight will be better? I hope so! Get some rest, you will miss it soon enough. ;)

Pa - Glad your shower went well spite all the drama. Your MN friend wants space? Really? She live in friggen MN! lol Oh well, I guess there is no avoiding drama, but it would be nice if a 20 year friendship could avoid it. So what games did you play? Get a lot of good stuff I hope! I was really worried about getting a bunch of things I wouldn't use, but I was happy with my turn out. As for your questions about a peds doc, sorry I can't help you there. I just use who the Army gives me. I don't really have much of a choice unless I don't like the doc... then I can request someone else in the same clinic or switch clinics all together, but I still have to stay on post. Back when Alex was little I didn't have much of a clue and just went with whoever the insurance recommended in my area that was closest. Not the best way to choose a doctor, but I was 20. Can't wait to hear about your peri appt. How much does she weigh now?? I hope they give you a guess. :)

AFM - I have one more day with Andrew before he goes back to work. So much for an appt with the commander. Can't trust anyone in his unit to do anything for anyone, even setting up a simple 15 minute slot so he can fight for himself since no one else wants to stand up for him/us. I just wish I could be completely mobile before he goes back, but that won't happen. I am still healing and still having to take meds, though not as much as before, I still need them. I guess from being cut open, many nerves down there were cut and it feels numb, but starting to get some feeling back and owie! I get these awesome shooting pains around the incision area, that's always fun. I am dealing with it, but I prefer not to deal with it alone with two babies to care for. I have been left alone twice now while Andrew went and took care of a few quick errands and both times the twins decided that they were hungry at the same time. That is hard to take care of when you're still healing. I will get through it though, maybe with a few tears, but I will. I must adapt right? I will just learn to multi-task like I have never done before. lol

Ok, let me try this again, I typed a huge post before then hit the wrong button at erased it - ARRGGHHH!!

So I think that this crazy days news has finally sunk in. Its just so hard to stop saying 'she" - I mean its been 5 WHOLE MONTHS since they told me it was a girl.
Now in the course of hours everything is the opposite - WOW its alot to take in so quickly. But it sure did take my mind off of being 2 days late AND the OB giving me the possble c section warning. So I've got to wait until Nov 1 and if nothing happens naturally, they will induce me the next day, but he said not everyone responds to being induced, so pack my hospital bag prepared for a c section stay - EEEKKK! my fear of an emergency c section after X amount of induced labor might come true? Whew! I cant even worry about that yet, but I am. I would have the luck of having a cervix of steel - umm, great, right?
So my "boring" OB appt was definitely NOT boring today, I'm just so grateful that it wasnt what we first thought. When the u/s tech left the room so quick saying she needed the OB, we immediately thought she found a defect or that I was getting admitted like right now! She was acting odd for the last few minutes before leaving us to get the Dr. So of course when they leave like that your mind goes right to "oh, no somethings wrong!" but when the OB came in and confirmed a boy, I wasnt even listening by then because I was soooo sure that they were going to tell me something awful. they both seemed the most concerned with "who did your anatomy scan?" and I told them both that it was done at another office, as per the OB that sent me there ( the one who left the practice months ago) they were definitely concerned that we were going to pitch a fit and boy were they happy to hear that it wasnt them who messed up! Then the OB was pissed off at the sono place that told us it was a girl. So many different things were going through my head by that point that I wasnt even mad just stunned. As the day went on, I was a little pissy and remembered that the only u/s I've had since MAY, was about 6 wks ago when my BP shot up and they sent me upstairs to the hospital for to test for fetal distress - guess they didnt bother to look at my chart or notice that there was a penis! Yes, I know the genitals isnt the first place you'd look if you thought the baby was in distress, but damn - what if i wasnt late? we could have found out in the delivery room instead and then it would have been huge drama. At least we were able to run to BRU today and now have some boy clothes, and it turned out that they're having a sale on all Carter's clothes at 40 % off - whoo hoo for that! we'll still be using some pink swaddling blankets, burp cloths, bibs, but does it really matter? the pink ladybug bedding set though? well yeah, that sucks, but its too late now, ah, at least it has a tiny bit of green in it.
So I was thinking back to EVERY time I asked (ok, whined) for a u/s and was told that there is NOTHING to indicate a problem and therefore NO NEED to order a u/s that if someone would have ordered one, even just to shut me up I wouldnt have spent 5 months thinking, saying, planning a girl. *sigh*

Well we took down the wall letters, and whatever for the pink bears and singing elephant, I've pulled anything that was totally pink out of the drawers - and we've decided to go back to Ryan, with Christopher as a middle name. I really wanted to use my RE's name, but now that Rose wont work, it would have to be Bruce and I just cant convince Chris that Ryan Bruce sounds good. Either that or his ego kicked in when I blurted out "we'll use Christopher as his middle name"
Yep, he liked that ALOT! But I've already told my RE that its a girl, and that we're going to name her Rose - argh! my brain can only handle so much in one day

Claudia – I am glad that you will finally get some much needed rest on the weekends. By now, you probably already got the crib and dresser; hopefully you guys will not have too much trouble putting the dresser together. The crib seemed to be no problem at all but our dresser/changing table combo took hours. By the way, I love the baby bump!

Stephanie – Your neighbor did a wonderful job! I just love the twins picture they are just so gorgeous! Thanks for the breast feeding feedback. I will probably do what you talked about, which is pumping into the baby bottles and then feed her that way. I just read your next post. I am sorry that Andrew has to go back so soon and that the appointment didn’t work out for the both of you. I know it will be difficult but I know you can do it (caring for both of them alone is what I mean). But, I don’t blame you for being upset though.

PA_FA – I am glad that you had your shower this weekend but I am sorry that you had so much drama! I think your friend will eventually understand … our hormones are all over the place right now so it is to be expected. I understand what you are saying about caring for your mother as you probably know her better than anyone. I am sure I told you about my grandmother but when she was being cared for in the hospital they kept trying to get they to do things and we knew it wouldn’t work because we know her best and can explain things in a way that she understands. Caring for a loved one can be overwhelming at times but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Please just make sure that if you begin to feel too overwhelmed you seek some help from maybe your DH. I know it can be really hard for you because it is just you but I have seen a lot of people who take care of their loved ones and begin to wear themselves down (physically) because they are taking on too much when I worked in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living centers. I know one thing though, she will probably be so very excited when her grandbaby finally arrives here; it will probably give her some great encouragement!

Babyluv – Thanks for the extra prayers! I am glad that your appointment went well and the babies have dropped even more! They are getting ready for their grand entrance! I am sorry that you are not getting any sleep! But, I am glad that your dad was able to go with you to for your NST; you are probably right that it wasn’t a good idea to drive that sleepy! I have experienced just the opposite lately; for weeks and weeks, I haven’t been able to get enough sleep but I think I am to the point of pure exhaustion, so I have been sleeping but I wake up in the morning and I feel like I haven’t been to sleep yet. I am tired all the time!

Gi – I am so glad that you are back. I was beginning to worry about you. It was so nice of your mam to come on here and tell us that you are just fine! I can’t believe it; you are 37 weeks already! Don’t be worried because your appointment will go just fine tomorrow. I can’t wait to hear about it! I have been getting those same menstrual type cramps too since last Thursday. I told my OB that yesterday so they checked my cervix and it is still closed and firm. So it probably will be some more weeks for me!

AFM – Today was a very crazy day because we had tornado type weather here in Ohio. The wind was up to 70 miles per hour and the rain was crazy. Luckily I was in one of my physician’s offices when the worst of it hit because I wouldn’t have been able to see to drive. I am looking forward to my NST on Thursday but always a little nervous.

Hazel - How did you survive being 11 days late? You handled it like a trooper! Its just day 2 for me and I'm ready now! How is King George doing? I'm now joining you on the boy front - how was the circumcision? All this time thinking I had a girl - I'd better whip out the books and read up on taking care of the circumcision wound. Hope that you're managing to get some sleep (even a little is better than none, right?) xoxoxo

Angela - 70MPH winds? Whew! good thing that you wernt driving right then! Thats scary weather. OK, so now you're waiting until the next scan to see if Gabriella has gained some weight? I'll keep everything crossed that she has, and you dont have to go on bed rest. I think that would drive you mad with the busy pace that you're used to keeping. Any word yet on if you can go to working half days? yeah, lots of stubborn babies today, I hope that your next 4-D appt Gabriella is feeling more camera friendly. How do they always know when we want to see them I wonder? lol.

Claudia - Oh, honey you look amazing to be that far along! I've never seen anyone look as good as you do at 34 1/2 weeks. You'll look just like yourself after delivery I'll bet. Lucky girl! - I know! can you imagine how much I would have just freaked if we didnt find out about this gender mistake until delivery? I would have lost my mind - heehee and hace had to take HIM home in a pink outfit too - whew! I wonder how much longer before it stops feeling weird to day 'him"? Have you found out about your job going to part time yet? How are you feeling mama? I'll bet my drama today made you happy to be on Team Green, didnt it?

Steph - That is easily one of the best baby pictures that I've ever seen! it may be hard to get this girl to take pics (like she promised) but wow does she do it well! That is one you two will cherish forever. Hey, no making fun of post op pics - you just looked tired in the ones I saw, and after having two new babies - who wouldnt be? I'm quite sure that you will back to your usual hotness as soon as you're healed. I'm so sorry that youre gonna have to have the babies by yourself while you're still healing up. I give up on his unit - it seems like they wont ever change, you must have the patience of a saint to not get all fired up and rip them a new one - yes, i know it would just come back at Andrew, but for the love of with these dopey people - I know how strong you are and that you can handle Ethan & Angelina at the same time, I just wish that you have the recovery time first. How closed is your incision now? will you be ok to be lifrting & bending for the babies? Aw I think its so sweet that they like to be tucked in together, take advantage of their special twin bond now - when they are teens and fighting over nonsense you can remind them of their beginning together. Or take away the car keys - whatever works lol
luckily the room is painted a sand color. so we're ok there, but umm, yes all the clothes were washed and put away awhile ago - its ok, we will be trying for a sibling hopefully by next summer, so if that works and its a girl? then we're all set. Oh yes Chris finally did get to feel his son ( how odd that still sounds) during a "Belly Gone Wild" uproar. He was in tears ( but trying to hide it of course when we left the Ob office today) Enjoy having Andrew home tomorrow, i'm sorry that it worked out like that - his unit blows  - much love twin mama - xoxoxo

Babyluv - Oh, I'm glad that your dad was able to drive you today, its too scary to drive when you're so exhausted. I think that Amelia & Juliette will be just fine and you've done agreat job getting them to 35 weeks. All that icky bed rest has paid off for you also. And measuring 39 weeks? they're at good weights then. I know that gonna fal out feeling - fun, yes? I've felt that way for like 2 weeks now - but there is a light at the end of tunnel for us all soon! Now about the insomnia? Thats so wrong! Why now when we all need to sleep as much as we can before the big day? Hope that you manage to get some rest tonight

Lou -Oh, honey, I've missed you! And you were right all along! I remember that all took your gender prediction quiz & the Chinese gender chart - and both of those came up boy for me. And the HR was always less than 150 BPM so theres that old wive's tale too ( that I didnt believe until today - lol.) its been a long day and I'm getting a little slap happy now, but I am stalking you and always rooting you on. much love - xoxoxo

Katie-HOLY COW!!!! I'm shocked so I can only imagine how you are feeling! WTH?!? I realize these things can happen but it is so crazy. Little Ryan is a lucky little boy-and he won't care what color his soft, cozy things are when he's snuggling with you. I know I would still be upset after all the purchasing and planning! This will make a wonderful, crazy story when he gets older-it will just take you lots of time to appreciate it (totally understandable!) Take care :D

Oh Katie, I am in total shock at your news, so I can't begin to imagine how you and Chris must have felt when they told you!!! What an adjustment to have to make only days before your baby arrives! It'll make one hell of a good story in years to come though. Well done for settling on a name so quickly, and for getting some boy clothes in - a little bit of pink mixed in will be just fine. Oh, and sorry I can't help about the circumcision, as it isn't applicable for George. Try not to worry about the induction (if you get that far) not working - I don't know anyone who hasn't had it work, and everyone on the ward I was on went into labour on the same day we were all induced, as far as I know. But hopefully Ryan won't keep you waiting that long, because the wait is so frustrating when you just want to get on with it!

AFM, you may remember that my father was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer back when I was six months pregnant, and although it was very advanced at the time, the doctors hoped that he may have until next summer as he was still feeling surprisingly strong. Sadly, he passed away yesterday morning, at home with my Mum and the nurses. He started deteriorating in the few weeks before George was born but then became increasingly weak and was in much more pain over the last few weeks, so we are grateful that he is no longer suffering and that it wasn't too long and drawn out at the end. Mum called us at home early yesterday morning to tell us that she thought the end was close - unfortunately DH and I couldn't get here in time to see him before he died, but thankfully we had been visiting very regularly over the last few weeks and saw him last on Sunday. We are obviously devastated, but have to be grateful that he lived long enough to meet his grandson and that we all had the opportunity to say the things we wanted to say before the end.

Katie,

I keep checking back to see if Savannah has been born.......................ummmmm, now I guess i am checking back to see if Ryan has decided to make an appearance! Holy cow, I think I would have just fell of the table with shock!. At least everything is ok with Ryan, just that baby had a SURPRISE penis! Hehe, hehe, I will be giggling about that all day. You had such a gorgeous nursery set for a girl. Hopefully no induction for you!. I was induced with my second DD and it wasn't so bad. All I can say is EPIDURAL!

Hazel,

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I cannot imagine how hard that is. My prayers are with you!

To all you other preggo momma's, keep cooking those babies!

Hazel – I am so, so sorry or your loss! I cannot imagine what you are going through right now. I want to type more but I am absolutely speechless … but please remember that I am praying for you and your family right now.

Sending you a lot of hugs!
