Tammy - that's great news on one more day. As far as my lab they do ICSI after the egg matures because we have low motility so just leaving the egg with the sperm wouldn't help much. But it's a long shot. You are so lucky to have such awesome insurance! Makes things a bit easier not that this IVF is easy but at least the financial part is of no big concern. I am so glad it turned out great and that the embryologist thinks it will be fine, how awesome! I hear ya on the coffee. I am starting meds on day 2 of AF with no BCP you said you started on day 1? Do you do meds 2x a day or 1x? And you had a cyst? Sorry you have family drama, welcome to the club me too! Vent anytime! Fingers crossed for a healthy baby for you! Lots of prayers!

I found this on progesterone and wanted to share:

What does progesterone do?
Helps to regulate the menstrual cycle.
Prepares the lining of the uterus for implantation.
Keeps the lining of the uterus thick which is necessary for a successful pregnancy.
Produces a rise in temperature after ovulation, which remains until menstruation occurs.
Creates a nutrient rich environment for the baby by increasing glycogen and arterial blood to the lining of the uterus.
Keeps the uterus from having contractions.
Causes the cervix to thicken and create a mucous plug which prevents bacteria from entering the uterus.

Progesterone Level Chart

Progesterone during menstrual cycle
Day 1-14 >1 to 1.5ng/ml
Day 15-28 2-28 ng/ml

Progesterone during pregnancy
First Trimester 9-47
Second Trimester 17-147 ng/ml
Third Trimester 55-200 ng/ml

What are normal progesterone levels?
Sometimes doctors will check a woman's progesterone level during pregnancy. Most doctors like to see a minimum level of 10 ng/ml during the first few weeks of pregnancy. If a woman has low progesterone levels this can be an indication of a threatened miscarriage. If you are concerned about your progesterone level talk to your doctor for more information.

Nancy...Yay for 1 frostie! Your little one(s) will need a sibling in a couple of years! Keep resting!

Rio...I hear ya on the just leaving them in the dish does nothing...same here. When is your u/s?

I'm not really sure if it was day 1 or day 2. I started light flow at 6pm Monday night and called on Tuesday morning and said that I started yesterday and she asked if it was regular flow and I said yes. I had my baseline done 2 hours later on Tues morning and then started stims Tuesday night. After the fact, I looked up the info and found out that really I may have started on day 1...which would you call it? Either way, normally my office has you come in on day 2-3 for baseline and start meds the next day. I pushed it...
I take meds 2x's a day. Yes, I started with a 10mm follicle...the u/s tech said they call that a follicle not a cyst and that it was fine to start...but, I wonder now. :?

Very interesting about the progesterone info. My doc never checks progesterone levels. Looks like you are sooo close that you are good to go. :D

I'm still waiting on the coverage info to email it to you...

Oh, by the way...Bill fixed my keyboard last night...all keys are back in working order and none ended up being permanantly broken like the last 2 times. Whew!!! lol

It is interesting how all of our clinics have little things that they do differently. My RE does check progesterone. In fact, I go in for that b/w tomorrow.

YIPPEEE for Bill fixing the keyboard. :-)

Ugh. Okay, since the infertility coverage paragraph isnt that long...I'll just post it here. I dont know how to read this...what do you think? Am I reading this right that I only have 2 retrievals left or 4 left after a live birth...or does it say something else?

IVF #2 for us was a FET...so doesnt count towards a retrieval. I hope it is not 2 ...cause this cycle will end up not being covered.

Infertility Diagnosis. The Plan will cover the cost of infertility diagnosis and treatment. Coverage includes, but is not limited to, sperm analysis, artificial insemination, embryo transfer, low tubal ovum transfer and uterine embryo lavage. In vitro fertilization, gamete intra-fallopian tube transfer and zygote intra-fallopian tube transfer are Covered Services if the following criteria is met:

1. The Covered Person has been unable to attain or sustain a successful pregnancy through reasonable, medically appropriate infertility treatments for which coverage is available under the Plan.

2. The Covered Person has not undergone four (4) complete oocyte retrievals, except that a live birth follows a complete oocyte retrieval, then two (2) more completed oocyte retrievals shall be covered; and

3. The procedures are performed at medical facilities that conform to the American College of Obstetric and Gynecology guidelines for in vitro fertilization clinics or to the American Fertility Society minimal standards for programs of in vitro fertilization.

tammy- WEll Im so happy you got great news about your follies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am just a few days behind you :D As far as the insurance it does look like after a live birth they only cover 2ER...and something like you had 4 covered total? to try. Like I think my insurance covers 4ER and thats it! not sure..its horizon insurance. I would call the plan and ask a coordinator...glad Bill fixed ur keyboard my DH name is Bill too :D Your little boy sounds like he is a hand full and keeps you busy

Tammy....I would assume that since you had a live birth you get those extra 2, meaning a total of 6. I think you would be able to fight it too if they say you're wrong because it doesn't specify anything differently.

Quick question ladies....probably a dumb one!

I went grocery shopping earlier and now I'm having some cramps. I think it is normal as I'm sure the little embie is still implanting. It could also be from the progesterone and estrace, right?

Just curious because I'm trying to be positive but I know how crucial the next 3 or 4 weeks are. #2 beta is tomorrow. I'm excited but nervous!!!

Personals later....promise!!! It's been a crazy busy day!

Lots of love to all of you!

Kaylie...likely the progesterone. No worries. But, no lifting heavy bags and doing strenuous stuff either. Your beta is great and will keep rising...so no worries, okay?

Ryann and Lauren...I now think it may mean that it would have been 4, but after a live birth, it is now 2....which means this would be out of pocket since it is #3. However, my docs office has down in my file unlimited tries. Ugh.

Ryann...are you guys getting that storm that we had yesterday? It ended up not being as bad as they said for us...hope it is the same for you guys, too.

Lauren...Zach is just jealous of my computer. lol He has his own computer, a leap pad, and another computer type toy and yet those arent good enough for him...he wants to play on the real thing.

Margi...Zach was born with a cell phone glued to his ear. He owns my old one and charges it every night just like mom and dad. Heck, he owns my really nice, now water logged, camera too. I fried it when I dropped it in the ocean, taking pics of him. lol People are always asking me if I realize that he has my phone and my camera when we are out and about...and I'm always like...yep, those are his...he dont leave home without them. The looks they give me are hysterical. lol

Tammy - I agree with ryann... sounds like 6 to me :D Do you have Health Alliance? Cuz that sounds exactly how mine reads... I always kinda took it as saying "Hey, if this is something that WORKS for you when nothing else will, we will help make sure you can have the family you deserve." Idk for sure, though. Maybe you could call to be sure.

Kaylie - I am having some cramping also. Sometimes it feels like it could be my uterus, sometimes like it could be gas... Sounds yucky, I know, but that is a major early symptom of pregnancy. But, the uterine ones are supposed to be from the growing. I am picking apart every little thing too. I'm sure everything's fine. You're numbers will be great tomorrow!

It's crazy how you wait the 2 weeks, really putting all your focus on and faith into that first beta result, but even after you get it and it's what you were hoping and praying for, there are still so many "what if"s and worries... Wow! Who knew?! :o

I feel the exact same way. I was just PRAYING the first beta would be good and now I'm worried about tomorrow and the second beta.....and after that I'll be worried about the ultrasound.....and after that....and after that....it just goes on and on!!!

I'm so happy for you. You and I both went through so much during the ER and transfer. My RE said, "the nurse and I were hoping that after all you went through after the ER that it would all be worth it!" My fever was around 101.9 for 2 days before the transfer and it continued until about 4 days ago. Also, he gave me a really strong antibiotic shot and then prescribed me a 5 day antibiotic because he was trying to fight an infection (if I had one) after the ER and it turned out that I was allergic to it. I broke out in a rash all over my body!!!!

I didn't think that the little embies would stick through all of that. I was soooooooo sick!!!!!! I'm just so happy they did (or at least one is still snuggled in!!!!)

Please let me know how your numbers are tomorrow. Do you feel like it may be twins????? That's a high beta!!!!

Kaylie :D

Your beta is tomorrow too, right?

I'm feeling better. Still a little cramping in the abdomen. How are you? Are you anxious about the 2nd beta? I've read most of your blog and I have to say that I really love your attitude through all of this. You are such a strong woman. I'm sure this comes after much worry from previous cycles. I'm just so very happy for you! :D Let me know what your #s come in at tomorrow. :D
