For us I don't think it was any less stressful. However, it only took one cycle, probably because we had figured out the best protocol for my wife over the four cycles we had to go through the first time around.

One other thing, though. Two kids is much, much more work than one. With just one kid, it was more pleasure than work; with two, it definitely gets to be work! It may still be worth it for you to have two kids - it is for us - just don't expect it to be quite as fun.

First off--thank you everybody for all the great responses! I appreciate all the wisdom and honesty. Now I realize there are a lot of other people in the same boat as me. Thank you again! Your advice is so welcome and valuable to me. I am still deciding what to do.

Karen--I am thinking of you and hoping this FET works!! You know you've got good embies because they are from your Nathan batch! Did they thaw ok? And how was the transfer? Thinking of you!!!

Chris--I have wondered about you and hoped you had success by now. I am so sad it hasn't happened yet. You are such a strong and positive woman! You would make such a great Mom. I hope it happens soon!

HI, just wanted to chime in. I'm trying for #2 as well and it really isn't any less stressful. I'm in the 2 WW, beta not till Tuesday 11/9, 12d5dt, ugh. I really thought it would be a lot easier but I'm still anxious and am searching the internet as for early pregnancy symptoms. I really am trying to relax but sometime its easier said then done. I'm so blessed to have my DD and I really do want to try and give her a sibling, just wish it was easier, just hoping good things come to those who wait.

Good luck to you all. Maybe we should start the going for #2 thread and support each other thru our second time around.

Hugs!

hi chris and sue and blessed, lisa, michele, bichon...(everyone)..

yup, we transferred 2 embies. they thawed fine. at freeze one was 6-cell grade B. and shortly after thaw it became an 8-cell, and stayed a B grade. i took this as a very good sign.

the other was 4 cell at freeze, grade B. it stayed 4cell but went down to a C grade.

my beta is nov 10. i'm much more calm than i've ever been in a 2ww. i know it's cause i have nathan. i want this SO bad, but at the same time, when i think about feeling 'devastated' at it not working, and never working again...i just look at him and i know in my heart it's all ok. that's not to say we wouldn''t keep trying...cause we prob will. BUT, i already have a miracle and i can't deny how incredibly lucky i am. although i want more, my heart is not empty like it used to be. nathan has that spot now.

and bichon- i love the thread for #2 try- maybe this is it right here?! love to all :)

Hello everyone,

I hope to be trying for #2 by the spring. I thought it would be easier, but so far I seem to be feeling an awful lot like I was the first time around! I recognise a few of your names from all of the reading I did when I started out. I am so happy to hear your LOs are doing well. If you really are making this a try for #2 board, then I'd like to sign up!

Karen - I am keeping everything crossed for your up coming beta. When I try again, I hope that I will be as calm as you as I feel the same way about being blessed with my DS already. BUT, I do tend to get a little stuck on wanting things to work out so badly that I fear I will lose sight of that when the time comes. Good luck!

Sue - I think I remember when you got your BFP way back when. I am glad that your DD is doing well. Isn't it amazing how much you can love one little person? And to think we'll love another just as much! Wow! I certainly hope you do get to have your second one. I will be watching to see how you do!

BichonMom - Your beta is getting closer! I'm sending lots of good beta vibes your way! You're right, good things should come to those who wait - and I think the ladies who are on these boards have waited long enough!

Chris - I am so sorry you have not had your success yet. I will be watching out for you in 2011. Good luck with your donor eggs. You so deserve it!

Michele - It's nice to see you still pop on here once in a while. I read your post on another thread just recently that you have a new job with excellent coverage and you'll try again not too long from now. Good luck!! I also checked out your photog site - wow - DH does a great job! Ella is looking super cute, too!! You know I will be watching to see when you start trying again and I'll be rooting for you!!

LisaB and Blessedmom - how are your cycles going? I'll try to look for you on a current cycling thread so I can see how it's going. I hope you get your BFPs soon!!

To anyone I missed - good luck you in haivng your dream become a reality!!

xo

Hi Sue,

I wish you nothing but success in trying for as many children as you want/heart desires.

I would only like to suggest you pay the extra $$$ to get the chromosomal screening after the eggs are fertilized.

I too had my miracle little boy on our 3rd IVF attempt at 39. Last year we had 1 failed FET and did a fresh IVF transfer (I was 40.5). We got pregnant, but to our heart's devastation our little girl had only 1/2 a heart and had Down's. We chose to send her back to God. Every day I grieve for her, but know in Heaven she is whole.

For whatever reason we didn't pay for that testing. I wish we had.

Good luck and blessings to you.

Karen~oh my goodness! Hang in there. I think your chances are great! You have two successfully-thawed embies from a proven batch inside you right now. I sure hope this works for you so then you can retire from this IVF rollarcoaster all together!! Be good to yourself right now. And give Nathan a big hug. Hugs to you too!

Karen - Don't freak out. That embie that put in you seems to be excellent. It survived the thaw and was still growing so it must be a fighter. hang in there. Are you gonna POAS?

Thanks everyone for the kind words. My journey has been really really really long but one way or another it will come to an end next year. Hopefully for the good, with a child but I have come to terms if it doesn't. I know when I look back at this that I did my best. DH and I have a great relationship so we will be fine one way or another.

Hi everyone, I would like to join too. I am currently 6 months pregnant with my second child. It took us 3 years to get here. This time around has been so much harder than with my DD. I conceived naturally with help of clomid with my DD. I waited 2.5 years after her to start trying again with no luck. I had 2 tubal -pregnancies before my DD, so we knew one fallopian tube wasn't working right but was allways open though. I opted to have it taken out was scared of having another tubal pregnancy. I thought that would help us get pregnant, ohhh I was sooo wrong. Several clomid cycles one IUI another injectable cycle. Then we started IVF journey 2 cancelled one failed one miscarriage and one success ( knock wood ) . I wanted my DD to have a sibling so bad. I don't think people understand wanting a second child. Sometimes people don't want to understand how you feel . Then I have friends that struggle to have a first child and I know they look @ us like we are so lucky to have a child but I feel our feelings are dismissed as if we don't suffer too ?? I struggled with having a first and a second child. I feel you definitely get ALOT of support when trying for # 1, than # 2. Trying for # 2 you are in the inbetween world. It can be a lonely place to be. I think people can be very insensitive. I think people thought DH and I were crazy to go through IVF to have a second child . I'm glad we did, cause were having a boy. Good luck to everyone and remember miracles can happen :D

thanks jenice, that's a nice story :)

and chris/sue...thanks for the nice, encouraging words.. i'm probably not gonna POAS... ugh. i can't wait til wednesday to be over with.. AM i OR AREN'T I ????

i keep feeling relieved that i haven't got my period but ghost says i probably won't get it til i stop the progesterone.. BUT i see women on here getting their periods BEFORE their betas (while on progesterone)...so WFT? i don't get it..? that can't always be the case, but how often is it the case?

good thing i've been busy :)

hugs to you all..and chris- where are things at again with you? i love how you say about looking back and knowing you did your best...that's the attitude i had too.. i really really hope and pray that your determination results in a baby in your belly and then a baby in your arms :)

I am not complaining I am so blessed but gone are the days of laying in bed or the couch!!! On the other hand I am so busy that time does fly and I am blessed. So again, yes and no! ;)

Congrats on ER RioGirl! Did the retrieval go smoothly? How many eggs did you get? I hope that you got tons and they are all fertilizing by now. Keep us posted!

Karen--I hope you are hanging in there and not going too crazy. It won't be long now before you know. Do you feel any symptoms?

Both of you try to take it easy as best you can with your busy little bundles needing you!
